ONW MORE THING: I did not discuss which rod, reel and line combinations I use for the HH, so I apologize! Here’s my general thoughts: I fish this more like a swim jig than I do a crankbait, so my combo reflects that. I have liked a 7’4” MH rod best so far, with a 7:5:1 gear ratio reel and 17lb fluoro. I know Mark Zona throws his on 20lb fluoro, so that could work too. I’m sure you could also do it on lighter line in open water. Alright, that is all. More videos to come using this soon 👍🏼

You can get that darting this way and that way motion, simply by , don't laugh y'all, but boil em. Get a potato masher, hold your crank down in the boiling water . This will change the shape drastically. You'll have to ruin a few , or go through a few until.ypu get the ONE . you'll know when you got the ONE. You'll know. Talk about mad reaction strikes. Don't nail me to a cross y'all, but if you ever do this mod to the wiggle wart , you can take it out of the boiling water , and immediately trim down the plastic lip , to make it run shallow . I'm telling y'all, I've been laughed at , and just blow. Off, by so many fellas I give this tip to. If ya ever try it , stick with it until you get that ONE , you'll see a very effective reaction strike lure mod.

I started fishing the hybrid hunter a few months ago when they showed up at my local store. I now have a box dedicated to them. I’ve made believers out of friends. I’ve caught some really nice fish with them. I use a stop and go retrieve. Usually I get hit on the pause . I’ve even had it smashed on top when its just floating. I just bought 5 Strike King Hybrid Hunter Jr's in different colors. I bank fish only. It's early July in Indiana. The grass in ponds is incredible at this time. Using topwater Frog's and The Loon Whopper Plopper in 90 size. But still getting hung up on Grass! Punching through the grass with heavy weighty jig's. The jig's are producing big bass. So I think The Strike King Hybrid Hunter Jr will be another bait I can use. All season long. Good luck to all pond bank fishermen. I haven't been skunked in 3.5 years. Shawn.

Fished this in shallow, open water the other day and caught a tilapia of all things. It's fun though. I really dig fishing with something that gives that tactile response; bladed jigs, Colorado bladed spinnerbaits and now the Hybrid Hunter. Fun stuff.

Tyler, I know the video is a year old so you might not read this but if you do, please ask Strike King to consider offering the Hybrid Hunter in more colors. Great video.. you talked a lot about this hybrid lure... but you never really talked about the weights. There's 4 different weights ... definitely going to be buying one for shallow water 2 to 4 deep. What weight do you recommend .... and do you recommend the full size or the junior?. Thanks
@TylersReelFishing Жыл бұрын
That’s true, because when I made this video last year they only had two sizes. Don’t worry about the weights, just about the sizes. The Shallow version is new, and great for 1-3 feet of water. The normal dives 2-5. Jr. version on each will run a tiny bit shallower, but not much. Negligible. I fish the Jr. 95% of the time, unless the water is dirty and there are lots of big ones. But the Jr. caught me a 10, so it still catches bigs haha
