Well I'm not really surprised, Sweden has been in the spotlight for a lot longer than Norway or Finland and has gained way more recognition across the world with famous people and brands. Norway hasn't always been as rich as it is now and Finland as an independent nation is very young and bloody with multiple wars against communists. As Norway and Finland keep topping these positive rankings they will be more noticeable.

And I have to tell that i've been there twice and some people still has this old thinking that woman has to cook... hmm. the thing with people think women have to cook... there are many countries where this is much more the case. of course, some old-fashioned swiss also think that, like everywhere. but they are strong minority. and whats so wrong with compulsory military? its a very small country not protected by Nato. so, somehow, they must have a certain size of armed forces somehow. and usually, they survive that service without greater physical damages or traumas...

I was born in Switzerland and have lived there all my life. I appreciate your criticism but for real I don‘t care about the compulsory military service and there is always an option to do something else instead. Yes there are some old heads in Switzerland but let‘s be honest where are there no old heads. As a Swede, I think we live on old merits… I love my country and we do have great things such as free education etc. However, during the last three decades, the welfare system has been torn apart and inequality is rapidly increasing. I do hope we can come back from this though and “deserve” that first place again. 🇸🇪☺️

Our schools and healthcare is now designed to make profit out of tax payers money, which makes the owners prioritise making profit over good education and medical aid to the ones most in need. It also isn’t the immigrants who made taxes for labour high and taxes for owning capital low, which now has made Sweden a tax haven for billionaires. Yes, too much immigration in a short amount of time has led to problems with integration and crimes, but it isn’t the sole cause of everything that is getting worse in Sweden. And I firmly believe it can get better. 100 years ago, in the beginning of the 20th century, Sweden was one of the poorest countries in Europe with the greatest inequality: a family of 10 could live in one single unsanitary room and people couldn’t afford medical aid. But due to welfare reforms, we became one of the most equal countries in the world with a high quality of life in the last half of the 20th century. Of course that type of great change can happen again.

From the list, only 3 countries are multiculturalism with immigration as main population originally: NZ, Australia and Canada. These countries get my respect reaching the top ten because of their ability to score high in socioeconomic despite multiculturalism compare to the others which has more homogenous cultures populations like the Sweden, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Japan, Netherland, etc.

Like any other ranking that I care, this ranking also puts the Nordic countries in the top 10 and in most cases in top 1. I have lived 8 years in Japan. It is a great country but unlike the Nordics some areas are quite bad. The Nordics shrine because they are constantly good in all areas that really matter. I have also lived 9 years in the USA. USA is also a great country. In some areas is the best in the world but unfortunately it never gets to top 10 in these rankings. That does not surprise me at all. The everyday life is so much more stressful in the USA and Japan compared to the Nordic countries.

Yep, basically. The Nordic countries place emphasis on the measurements that really matter to their citizens. My country, the US is still a great place to live. Top 20 country in my opinion. But there’s some things that are horrible, the political polarization, gun violence, and healthcare. But one thing I absolutely love about the US is diversity and the many people from all walks of life.

Here in Norway, almost everyone knows about Kazakhstan and most knows roughly where it is. But that's it. It's not famous for anything, and there are never anything on TV from there, and no one goes on vacation there unless they have family there. In other words, it could be heaven, or it could be hell - we simply don't know.
