I don't get the whole thing anyway with wanting to weigh the water, because you can be pretty accurate with volume. It's magic, really, 1 ml of water is 1 gram. Or, above 4 deg C, 0.99 g until its temp exceeds 45 deg or thereabouts. So if you know the volume of any container, such as the inside of your water bottle lid, you can probably approximate a decent measure if you've weighed out your coffee. Or indeed, start with the volume of your bripe to where you fill it, and adjust your coffee dose accordingly.

This looks like a lot of fun. Thinking of "Turkish" or "Greek" coffee that is made on a stove, boiling the coffee and water together, this kind of thing makes sense. Also, it really does look like fun, completely the opposite of the scales and accurate pressures used in the kitchen at home.

I take it for what it is. Simple fun for when we go out. Since years, I use my Wacaco minipresso GR right here at home. Much more fun than pressing a button!. This Christmas I made the espressos for 2 sons, right there at the table in front of them. They ain't ever gonna forget that ! Everything has it's place... I'm saving up for one ! I ordered a Bripe and it arrived yesterday. I would never have ordered one if I hadn't watched this video, James. And this morning, I had my first Bripe -- in the comfort of my kitchen, and after my morning espresso. I was the weirdo who weighed my dose (5.2 grams). I also heated the water in my kettle to 90 Celsius and then poured it into the Bripe, since I don't have a way of filling the torch lighter yet. So we at least started this morning's Bripe in metric! Interestingly, the Bripe thermometer only climbed to 150 Fahrenheit (about 65 Celsius). I'd be surprised if I lost that much heat to the Bripe and in the pour. Anyway, I waited for the temperature to come down to 140 Fahrenheit (according to the Bripe thermometer), which didn't take long. Indeed, my first sip was a little gritty. But the rest of it was actually enjoyable. Thank you, James!

The Bripe could easily absorb that much heat from the water. Copper absorbs heat readily and the thing probably weighs more than the water that goes in it.
