I saw a Shad spawn on Lake Texoma several years ago. The Shad were spawning on one of the busiest boat ramps on the lake. There were hundreds of them. The bait fishermen were on the ramp scooping them up in landing nets. They had an easy day of catching live bait that day. The Shad would move over when a boat was launched or loaded and then move right back after the trailer was out of the way. The Shad weren’t the least bit bothered by all of the people or the activity.

He’s been a little negative. The last few videos on the feed have been complaining about people and events. He’s still knowledgeable beyond my comprehension and I believe in Intuitive fishing- no live scope. But if one is looking for Positivity there are more than a few Great Fisherman producing contet.

That's why we all have opinions I guess. I wouldn't call it over rated simply because you don't know how to capitalize on it. There are techniques I don't understand but that doesn't mean they are overrated. Very effective approach this time of year.

Not the case on Guntersville. Shad spawn on the same places every year. Almost every spawn spot is full of bass.100 fish days are the norm.

I am about 8 months into using livescope and am starting to master a couple techniques using it. As the days go on I’m starting to agree more and more with the ban on it. As odd as it sounds I kinda think it’s inhumane. I’ve been finding fish out in the middle of nowhere that would never be found otherwise. Fun piece of equipment but probably will eventually get banned

@@CAN43725 don't see how that's possible man, the only people that are actually FOR ffs are the people who have it and use it regularly and if you took a wide survey of bass anglers or of anglers in general you would find that the vast majority of us are on the shore or in kayaks or very cheap boats that aren't equipped with FFS, we can't afford it, we all think it's cheating, it's boring to watch in the pro's, and if everyone had it and knew how to use it, there would be no fish left to catch. Get off your high horse and go learn to flip a jig or walk a top water.

I’ve only had the pleasure of fishing a hand full of shad spawns…. Most on Orange Lake Fl. I do agree it was kinda lucky that we came across them… but I must say the 4 times I found them on Orange I loaded the boat. I used a small white tandem willow leaf spinner bait and caught anywhere from 10-15 each time. No great size…1-2.5 lbs…. And it all happened in 45 mins. So I guess a agree with you that trying to target for pattern the shed spawn could be difficult, but when I have found those conditions on Orange, it’s been incredible.

Thank you sir very good video. I’ve seen the spawn and caught fish by simply throwing a spinner bait like you said but I’ve never in life gone looking for it! You take a chance at missing what I call the shad bite the first couple hours of the day! I say go fishing and if your lucky enough to hit the spawn you’ll just have a little more fun.

Agreed , I’ve seen it very few times in my life bass busting in the dead ends here and when I saw it way out away from the bank you can cast just about anything and they will bite it , but I’ve only seen it a very few times , it’s just like u said u have to land on em by accident , the first time I seen it I did not think it was bass , I casted over to it got the bite reeled it in and it was a bass , the very first time I seen it I did not know what it was , but I only caught like 3 or 4 and then it was over , no more busting on top

When I have encountered shad spawning there usually isn’t tons of bass eating , but last year I found a spot , and these bass where like sharks tons of bass where feeding on these shad, every 30 seconds the water would explode and shad where flying out the water and these big bass where coming out the water at times to when they where hitting them. I was fishing off a boat dock with my bro. We had no boat was just a public fishing place out at portage lakes. For like a week the bass did this me and him caught so many big bass in that spot last year was fun

On a few of our local lakes (Central Texas) the shad spawn locations are very predictable. For a couple weeks you can pretty much count on them to be there for an hour or so at first light and there are almost always numbers and good quality bass there. A small white swim jig will generally do great.

Have you ever caught 2 bass on one crank bait one on the front one on the back hook?I encountered this once on a main lake point both largemouth and sand bass were gorging on the shad.Mid to late summer. Only caught dinks however.

Will shad spawn on lily pads in Florida? I’m pretty sure I witnessed this a couple times. I happened to be standing on the bank and caught a 5 plus pounder. But I have never seen anything like it before. The shad started jumping out of the water and a whole bunch got stuck on top of lily pads.

The lake I fish has an unreal shad spawn. I’ve witnessed more catfish gobbling up shad than bass. Also with a million shad in the water what makes your lures so special. Years ago I gave up on the bass and just set hoops for the catfish.

I would also recommend not using a treble hook bait because in the time it takes to get those hooks out you could’ve caught another one. Time is money on a shad spawn.

Getting out there and fishing for pleasure is so much better then any tournament. Unfortunately, many tournament fisherman act like golfers. I swear it's the same narcissistic attitudes. Have fun, enjoy the day on the like and fight your fish into the boat instead of dragging it across the water.

If you chasing someone are you chasing them into the corner or open field to catch them. Also that’s the best big bait for big fish tip parallel a wall or bulk head even the bank they T-bone that bait and pin it to the wall. Try it

I disagree, shad spawn is awesome if you have experience. I won a lot of money and caught a lot of limits during shad spawn so I think this just a ploy to get a bunch of comments. Fish your normal stuff, oh hey birds are all over the bank, well those fish you were trying to catch are following the bait right up to the bank. Chase the shade lines and only cast where the bass setup to ambush the shad to be more efficient. Posts, boat slips, points, stairs, rocks etc. Fish as much of that stuff as you can in the 1st couple of hours and map it out before it happens.

That's right FFS sonar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that your narrative is totally blown, it is time for you and Hank to quit whining about FFS. You both are just plain hypocrites!!!!! I have lost all respect for Hank and it is time for you to go back to giving videos about fishing techniques and about your tournament results. Speaking of overrated bass stuff....BFS gear....hyping up finesse baitcasting equipment for hundreds of dollars, when a spinning setup will do the same thing 😂 some anglers are just too easy to fool

Some people (like me) just prefer using bait casting gear. What’s wrong with that? I have lots of UL spinning equip, but hardly use them anymore after acquiring several bfs rods and reels in the past few years. BTW, you can get good, reasonably priced BFS gear nowadays.

@@mspellyt1 I have 25 baitcast combos & 5 spinning..obviously I prefer baitcasting....nevertheless, to hype up finesse baitcasting gear like it will change bass fishing is hilarious...a 7' med/light spinning combo with 6 lb. braid will do the exact same thing
