When we were camping in Waynesville, North Carolina last year (2019), we paid a visit to the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum.
-- Wheels Through Time
We've visited this area for years and, while we had heard of this museum, we'd never made the drive to see it. We had no idea it was this amazing or we would have gone years ago!
Located just five miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, this museum has over 300 rare motorcycles! What's even more amazing is they are all in working condition! Our guide, Chris, was happy to fire many of them up for us to actually HEAR history! Very cool!
This place is so much more than just a motorcycle museum. It's an Americana exhibit as well! The bikes are arranged in carefully curated sections related to motorcycle history, with signs, clothing, tools, etc from the period.
-- WIN a 1939 Harley Davidson Knucklehead
Wheels Through Time is a 501.c publicly funded museum and relies on admissions and fund raisers. Part of that fund raising comes from annual raffles of restored motorcycles. This year's raffle is for a 1939 Harley Davidson Knucklehead!
The raffle takes place in front of a live audience on Saturday, Nov 14th, 2020 at the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC. Second prize is $10k, and 3rd prize is $5k - you do not have to be present to win.

Thank you! That tour was so cool! Speaking of operating museums, have you been to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer? It was once the main hub and maintenance shops for the Southern RR. They have the roundhouse and operating turntable, plus other buildings with antique cars, motorcycles, fire trucks, military vehicles and a Piedmont airliner. These are the shops where the famous Norfolk & Southern 611 was rebuilt and repainted. Plan on a day to see everything.

Love you three...Can't forget Daisy...!!! The biscuits are the size of my wifes Baguettes...Don't forget the Norton's Motorcycles... Just so you know time wise I drove from San Diego, California to Jacksonville Florida in May 1976 in three days on a Kawasaki 900 ... for a whopping15 hours in the saddle per day..Left Coronado, North Island at 5:30PM and three days later arrived at 9:30PM Jax Fl. I always wonder where Steve McQueen's Harley went...Now I know...Thanks Chad and Tara...!!!

Been there twice- nice presentation! If you can get to Motorcyclepedia in Newburg NY- nothing runs but the breadth of the history and the many many different makes are mind blowing. BTW they have and Indian ROOM with one of each from 1903 to 1953 and more!

Best museum ever. I got a cousin who's also my life long riding buddy. He's been on the mend since being diagnosed with cancer last year. I'm hoping to get him down the blue ridge in the late spring to Asheville NC to see the museum. I've been there, loved it! I was actually on the rebound from a bad crash. That was like 15 years ago. It's time for another visit. Thanks for the video. I watch all the wheels through time videos also.

I have known about Wheels Through Time for many years and have not been there yet, it is on my bucket list. Dale and his son are very knowledgeable, Mike and Frank from American Pickers have traded with Dale a time or two. The 1949 Veritas car was on an episode of Chasing Classic Cars where Dale bought the car at an auction. There is an amazing amount of history under that roof!!!

Brought back memories of the60’s when you passed the hill climb exibit with a sign for the Muskegon Motorcycle Club. Made me remember the hill climbs in Bridgeton Michigan which is very near Muskegon. The entire area would have every make, model motorcycles including lots of chopprrs and 3 wheelers with unique builds. Locals were always in fear because the Hells Angels wre sure to be in town.

What a cool place. So much “working” history all in one location. Tara, I’m surprised you were able to get Chad to actually leave there. And I couldn’t help but picture you all “bedazzled” as a 50’s biker chick when you mentioned the saddlebags and accessories. I think you could pull it off. You know, the Marlon Brando hat, leather jacket, and roll up jeans. Just ask Chad. He’d say “exactamundo!” 😜 What a perfect place for the two of you and for you to share. Appreciate the tour, guys. It's funny you mention American Pickers. Mike and Frank of Antique Archaeology(American Pickers) procured many bikes and items on display there. In fact I saw several items in your video from their show. Dale Walksler was one in a million special guy. Thank God he passed on many of his good traits to his son Matt. The knowledge Dale had was astounding and he came along right at the right time in history. We lost a great man with his passing, he was way more than a bike guy. He was a people guy. He would stop what he was doing and take the time to talk to anyone especially children. Remember when leaving your foot prints in the sand of life, Do it with work boots on

In the outtakes, you commented that you're the Fonz. Did you know Winkler was afraid to ride? Aside from one shot in the opening credits, it was always stuntmen when the bike was moving. Erik Estrada was a danger to himself and others whenever "Ponch" rode his own bike, too. I see old clips of CHiPs and now I notice how wobbly he was in contrast to Larry Wilcox.
