damn 60g are too heavy these days? Must not have hit the gym that morning. On a real note: dropping weight for reduced shape integrity is a trade I would never take. the 60g weight honestly just hits that nice balance of feel when moving the mouse.
@StaySic4Ever2 ай бұрын
Using XE ~70g mouse and for sure shape, grip width and button height more important at this range of weight. I can't use a smaller mouse and I definitely don't want a mouse with holes for few lower grams, heck most don't even seem to have reduced weight you'd expect, just seeing full shell that have around same or lower even. Good shape, full shell, further reduce weight as extra. So I'm all for going lower weight while retaining good shape and full shell, at least the visible side vs bottom.

To me, it seems like the community is very divided between going tunnel vision on either lightweight mice or mice with focus on overall quality / general feel. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and what you'll feel better using / play better with. I think that as a company, if you make either a super lightweight mouse with okay quality, or a mouse that focuses on incredible quality, no matter what, the product will appeal to one demographic and get hate from the other. It's impossible to please everyone. For me, I prefer light weight over things like quality, so I buy mice and heavily mod them and take out every inch of plastic till its a creaking mess; but then I have a super light mouse, and that's my preference. I don't think I would enjoy a mouse like this over something like a lamzu atlantis. Despite that, I still see the appeal of something like this, or other mice from companies like vaxee, endgame, zowie, etc. who focus more on general quality and shape over light weight. It doesn't make sense to me that others with my preference will hate on these mice when they have a clear demographic. If they don't like the weight, they can rip out the plastic, or just not buy the mouse.
@SireEvalish2 ай бұрын
The problem is that multiple companies have demonstrated that they can make lightweight mice that feel great in the hand. My X2V2 mini has no creaking or any other build issues while weighing about 10g less than the EGG mouse and being cheaper, for example.
@joshdeconcentrated26742 ай бұрын
@@SireEvalish Pulsar is known for having big QC issues. your chances of getting a bad copy is pretty high with them. and 10g is not a lot considering the insane size difference. for its size, the x2v2 mini is not a lightweight mouse. The lighter the weight the more control you have and takes less force to grip and use. Hence why enthusiasts in the gaming mouse market are into it. There's nothing wrong with more premium mice with better build quality. You kind of get what you pay for but at the same time not everyone wants to spend over $100 on a mouse. (tl;dr at bottom) the way i see it is that if you're using a tool that requires precision, it would be preferred if it is easier to control in use sure you could use a mouse that weighs 250 grams, but if you're playing fps games and will be doing large swipes with it then you have to put in more effort to stop the mouse where you want to more weight = more inertia, more force required to stop the mouse, newton's laws of motion, yada yada at some point, you need to find what weight works best for you to have the most control on your mouse also, side note, if you're using a heavy mouse and are using one for precision-related tasks, you could end up getting rsi; i knew a guy who's voltaic gm who used a g502 and ended up giving himself rsi tl;dr: lighter mice are generally easier to control, find a weight that allows you to be more precise with your mouse

It doesn't help that this community has always been toxic to change. I'll throw an example; This whole pen thing, where people know and truly understand it's a niche, and that the tech is a bit too different and complicated for it to become a normie thing, though people choose to stand on this hill where as if one KZbinr or TikToker says something about it and that it's good, that's suddenly what needs to become a normalized thing. Not gonna lie, I do miss when China mice were on the peak edge of what they could be. I've seen so many companies come and go in the mouse market and some jump out, simply because of the silly behavior of the community. We used to have a TON of really good, unique, different, and interesting shapes come into the community. Now, we're at a standstill for like the umpteenth time again. I have to disagree with you on a few things, grip width and button height being lower and slimmer, I don't think it's always better, as categorizing things this way is simply just limiting. Everyone's going to perform different despite how a mouse is shaped. I think the whole button height and width thing is only a commonly spoken on thing strictly because it's what a majority of users prefer versus the people we often forget about. Hopefully we'll see change, hopefully we'll come a lot further and start seeing and implementing newer tech in the future rather than chasing a shape and a weight, as I think the mouse community can use more futurized technology in a lot of areas. Bless bro, you always put out good word though, thanks for the video.

The problem here is - I think - that EGG is known as a company that loves advancing and loves pushing boundaries. People, including me, have high standards for EGG and there just isn't any good reason as to why this mouse has to weigh 62 grams. It's not that people can't manouver a 62g mouse, it's the fact that it'd have been so easy to improve it even further and it makes it feel like a half-assed release again or some relic from a time where EGG originally designed it. The GPX2 that is basically a year old has decent build structure and comes in at around ~55g if you just don't use the puck and remove the magnets. The VV3Pro which has reaaally good build structure comes in at even less. Even without any mod. And these are also mice that come with a good coating, crazy good performance and in case of the VV3Pro they are even bigger mice, so what here justifies these 62g? The xm2w 4k just offers nothing that makes this weight justifiable. Keep in mind this mouse has been awaited by many for years and considering the time they took to design it it's just a letdown. It's just hard to imagine you wouldn't be able to cut this down to 55g or even 50g or maybe even less if we look at the Maya X with a tiny bit of more thought put into it. This in combination with the fact that they still didn't fix the creaking on the frost units is just turning this into a disappointing release. Rare time I genuinely whole-heartedly disagree with you Boardzy.
@mikerzisu95082 ай бұрын
💯 agree with this. I am not a mouse engineer, but if all of these other companies are able to do it, EGG can too. Just feels half assed to me. The same can be said about vaxee.
@boardzy2 ай бұрын
I agree there should be high standards for endgame gear and creaking issues are unacceptable, but they haven't been known to push weight boundaries. The op18k is a 50g small wired mouse and the wireless version will weigh 60g. They have the wired XM2 8k at 52g which is worth noting, I don't feel 61g (on my scale) stock wireless for a quality build on a larger mouse is outdated. Comparing a warranty voiding GPX mod to a stock mouse is a bit unfair. The Atlantis with thinner plastic and bottom cutouts weighs 55g and nobody cares, but endgame gear chooses internal structure over a handful of grams and it's the end of the world. I generally agree with your comments/takes as well so I wanted to address this, I 100% believe if you got the mouse in hand you wouldn't care about the weight
@lightcore12 ай бұрын
@@boardzy I am actually personally using the XM2 8k as I don't mind the wire, but I'm trying to understand the POV of the people that do mind it. It just doesn't fit into the big picture if we compare it to the other options on the market. To be fair taking out the Puck is not warranty-voiding, I believe the puck is not even in the mouse when you open the box (maybe wrong on this) and even with the Puck that does nothing the GPX2 is still lighter and we are talking about a release that is just so old already and that's just completely dismissing the VV3Pro release. It's not like people are asking EGG to perform the "next step". It's just they wonder why their 2-years-in-the-making xm2w 4k doesn't even hold up to industry standards that got set by Razer - a brand that's not necessarily known to push the "enthusiast-scene" forward either... It's not the dealbreaker as some people make it out to be and I'm absolutely on your side when you say 62g is still worth playing on and by no means something that'd kill the mouse, but considering the other options on the market I just don't understand why anyone would choose to buy this xm2w 4k over any other recent release unless you REALLY love the shape and hate wires. It's easy to forget as someone who sees mice and mousepads as a hobby that the average consumer - even in our nieche scene - buys this product to use it - possible for a large time - and also decides for/against this on a budget. And I - personally - just don't see any real reason to buy this mouse. But I also don't hate wires, so what do I know...

I am boomer and after trying several different mice with different weight from 40g to 70g NP01s, have to say my prefference is around 60g, i loose control with extra light mouse.

Mouse community has been hating on the GPX superlight a lot and no reason why exactly, especially on reddit. Bad skates? People change them even when the skates are alr good/decent. You don't need a 20-40 gram mouse for claw lol
@null0452Ай бұрын
the thing is its just mid, not bad not good just mid. Shape is very generic it works for most but many people (me included) will cater to something thats more claw grip focused like zowie za13 s2, xm1r, op1. the weight isnt game changer for claw grip (im still using xm1r) but you see more and more 40g mice that costs somewhere around 50$, obviously gpx will feel bland in comparison

Weight is a preference. Those people shouldn't be speaking when they put all their attributes into aim and nothing else.

I prefer to think of it as these other mice users who can't handle a 60g one are just physically weaker and inferior creatures 🤷🏻♂️.
@null0452Ай бұрын
or just used 40g mice. 60g is obviously playable but saying that lighter is worse is laughable especially when its very noticable during aiming sessions

I'm using a 118g mouse lol. 52-60g are extremely light for me😶😶 it's more important to find that something feels and perform better for you than to follow "best mice 2k24" or what not. pros and cons with everything I guess
@Katze8222282 ай бұрын
I agree, overall quality with no flexing or creeking is way more important than a couple grams less weight as long as it's not above like 75g. But on click latency I disagree. At least to me a mouse with 4ms click latency feels noticably worse than a mouse with close to 0ms. Having the physical click sound and feel line up exactly with the click registration makes clicking on stuff a lot more intuitive and easier. And it also makes timing things like rocket jumps more intuitive. And btw that "negative" click latency from the GX speed mode where the click actuates before the click sound and feel doesn't work for me either. "Negative" click latency is in my oppinion almost as bad as positive click latency. Games are not about clicking as fast as possible like a human benchmark test, they're about precise timing.

Anything above 50g is unusable for low sensitivity mudpad player Every single gram on your mouse adds to additional reaction time in mouse movement, most taps end fights in 0.0025s where a 75g mouse has literally no chance to compete
@Katze8222282 ай бұрын
@@goochipoochie I'm not saying that weight does not matter. It does. But the mouse not flexing is important too. If you grip your mouse and there's some give, that negatively affects aim aswell and it's far worse than a couple grams more. Also there is no fps game in which fights last only 0.0025s (=2.5ms) lol. First you got a reaction time wich is around 140-200ms and then you have to flick onto your target which takes additional time. You probably meant 250ms and not 2.5ms but even that's pretty much impossible, look up a reflex flick 250ms scenario in aimlabs and the top guys on the leaderboards will have like 25% accuracy in a scenario with large targets. It just doesn't make sense to flick that fast even for the best aimers. To be accurate in game you'd need at least 300ms, in most situations probably 400+ms. A lighter mouse does help a bit with flick speed but the effect is not nowhere nearly as big as some people think or as some marketing material may suggest. If your mouse is 48g instead of 60g (so 20% lighter) you won't flick 20% faster because the weight of the mouse is only a fraction of the total weight you have to move during a flick. The vast majority of the weight is your arm. The amount that the 20% lighter mouse makes you flick faster is probably in the low single digit percent points. The thing is the lighter mice get, the lower the impact of any further weight reductions is because most of the weight you're moving around is your arm and hand anyways. To me lighter mice are always welcome but it's far from the only thing that matters. if there's a 50g and a 60g mouse that are exactly the same in all other aspects though then obviously the 50g one is the better mouse. But back to my original point: Click latency is imo way more important than weight to me. Having the click actuate exactly when the click physically activates makes aiming a lot more intuitive. And having for example 4ms of click latency is a lot more noticably to me than having 4g of extra weight. But I guess differnt people have different priorities. I weight reduced some of my older mice like my g403 to around 70g and I can aim fine with them in tracking and switching tasks but for clicking they're unusable to me because of the click latency they got. Honestly I don't get how a company like zowie still releases new mice with huge click latency in 2024...

The issue isn't necessarily the weight by itself. It's that EGG is charging $100+ for a mouse that doesn't really bring much to the table over cheaper and lighter mice. If it's the absolute perfect shape for your grip, then absolutely it makes sense, but if there are other mice that work for you I don't see it as being worthwhile.

depends if you can tolerate the cable. if yes go for xm2 8k as its better in every single way. Personally would prob go with xm2 as its lighter have better specs and better latency, and cable on my xm1r is already so light i barely notice it on xm2 its might be even better
