Those People not using karate in this movie, there's karate sensei Who react to those video and said those style might be kung fu that similar to karate but its different from karate. The way they kick is not from any school in japan. I would said Ip Man romanticized the story and can be considered as propaganda movie, a good propaganda movie like every hollywood WW2 movies

I think so many people are missing the point in why he said Equalizer and John Wick specifically… both came out in 2014 within a month of each other with nobody knowing essentially anything about either one of them and each had a certain style to each that was unique and different each movie making each franchise more noticeable by the audience and each maintaining the same strength in formula with each installment and each movie of both franchises kept the same directors and creative team throughout all of the films .. something that is very rare with action trilogy’s modern day!

It's also ironic, the fact that John Wick even exists is a miracle, a $30 million budget with a somewhat dying star Keanu Reeves in the main role, directed by two stuntmen who never directed a movie ? Very unlikely a project like this will happen again...
@master-of-mind58819 ай бұрын
Keanu reeves is a once in a lifetime type of action star. His ability to provide a spectacle that engages the senses, heightens your attention and fulfils your imagination whilst being ridiculously entertaining is unmatched. From the matrix to John wick, when it comes to action sequences, fight scenes, choreography, stunts and story this man never disappoints. The moment chidi kicks wick into the black van, unloads a combo of fists then roundhouse kicks him into the way incoming cars whilst waiting to join him is pure cinematic ecstasy. I love this film.

While I agree, I think Tom and the mission impossible series should be up there with John wick and the equalizer. Though they were popular before it wasn't till ghost protocol and the 2010s where they truly popped of along side JW and TE that showed that what practical big budget stunts/set pieces could accomplish...

These movies saved Western action cinema in my opinion, the East ever since the boom of The Raid in Indonesia, the Korean action thrillers of the 2010s and the recent surge of Japanese return to grounded actioners ala Re: Born, Bad City and The Fable films, never needed any saving. The only market that arguably died is sadly HK cinema which pioneered and innovated much of the action cinema we know and love today only to die at the hands of a government that cares more about product placement and soulless cash grabs much like its Western counterpart.
@boboboy81899 ай бұрын
HK action movie died right after China got Hong Kong. Meanhile Ong Back trilogy, the protector duology and chocolate still can't penetrate western audiences like HK movies does.
