I think this movie does all the wrong dcu have done. Too many characters to be introduced right. Lex is just as awkward as the former. Bad cinematography. CW suit. Looks like a TV show. Guy Gardner... Wtf

BVS is not always an easy movie to defend and because of this I think it catches a lot of needless criticism. I am so tired of the "BATMAN DON'T KILL PPL" slam because - as you pointed out - it seems super ultra plainly clear that this version of Batman is jaded, broken, and not the scrupulous hero that he's generally portrayed as. His state when BVS begins is a plausible consequence of years spent dealing with the absolute dregs of humanity and sacrificing his own mind and body in the process. A lot of this is probably tied to the death of Robin, which I tend to think is the straw that broke the camel's back. The point should've been hammered home a little better, but I also think these are gaps that were intended to be filled in later. More evidence for this pops up in Joker's convo with Batman during the post-apocalyptic scene at the end of the Snyder cut of JL. Bruce's relationship with Alfred feels a little strained as well; losing his surrogate son has led to an estrangement from his surrogate father. Detractors try to act like the entire character has somehow been rewritten, as if Bruce donned the cowl with the sole intent of going on a killing spree. I don't think that this Batman explicitly sets out to kill people, I just think the impetus to go out of his way to save criminals who are out to kill him has faded drastically.

The prequels exist because people wanted more Star Wars, not because Lucas had more story to tell. Not everything needs a backstory, and some things are better left to the imagination. In 16 years, Lucas couldn't come up with anything interesting enough to justify another trilogy, so he should have let it be. His edits to the originals were an early sign that the prequels wouldn't be good. Han is transformed from a no-nonsense rogue to a self-defence pussy. The subtlety of Vader's silent internal conflict is made explicit with a cartoonish exclamation. Jabba and Boba having cameos in ANH destroys our anticipation of finally seeing them in RotJ and ESB. Similarly, the prequels ruin the reveal of the Emperor and his Force lightning. It worked so much better keeping him as this sinister offscreen presence until the penultimate chapter. Midichlorians completely invert our understanding of the Force, which until this point had been a mysterious cosmic energy that gives telekinetic and telepathic abilities. Its nature and origins were intentionally vague. Star Wars has been pulled in every direction imaginable, first by an out-of-touch Lucas and now by the woke mob, and the damage has been irreparable. Hearing a pint size Anakin squealing “yippee” in TPM is unbearable. How can we take Darth Vader seriously after that? Star Wars was never intended to become as big as it did. It was a low budget movie inspired by Arthurian legend, WW2 and 50s sci-fi serials. In contrast to its humble origins, it became a sprawling corporate abomination. Disney then swallowed it up, and it devolved into self-insert fanfiction. This dead horse has been beaten so many times. It's just a puddle of glue now.

i think your comparison with bvs just doesn't fit. bvs tried to put all the justice league into one movie that wasn't even about justice league. introducing batman and ww into superman's sequal movie is just disrespectful to these characters. about the characters in this movie, everyone except superman and the lantern guy is relatively unknown c lister character. movie is definitely not gonna focus on that gotg background character looking guy and the hawk tuah girl.

I think we’ll be okay with Gunn’s take on Superman. He’s probably looked more into Superman than any other character in his works given how much he talks about other Superman. I also think he mentioned something of Superman being way less humorous than his previous works.

…….. It allllll started with Green Lantern🤦🏽‍♂️Fools think it was Man of Steel, but GREEN LANTERN was Warner bros FIRST shot in the foot/mail in the coffin. And what’s crazy is, we got a gift and curse with the Nolan trilogy… Bc those were great, BUTTT if the Nolan trilogy never happened when the MCU was starting then Warner bros, wouldn’t went with Batman kick starting the DCEU instead of green lantern🥴A lot of people forget/ dont realize it. Warner bros chose Green lantern to be their Ironman and intro to the whole. BIG MISTAKE.

We need to stop picking sides. Appreciate both. Man of Steel was a masterpiece undoubtebly, and Cavill was THE Superman. However, this trailer looks phenomenal and more true to the comic book version of Superman. James Gunn is doing his own thing and I love it. We can appreciate both directors without picking sides here, personally I think James Gunn will take DC in the right direction by staying true to the source material.

Subjectively: I found it pretty decent. Animation is nice, voice acting were good, and had subtle connections to the Jackson films. Probably due to low expectations and had the context of how they’re linked. Objectively: it’s passible but trouble to stand out. And given the context that it’s based on a page and a half of one of the books, it was very telling on how they handled the story. I’m not even a Tolkien enthusiast, but felt a bummer on how they could have the potential to world building and the characters.

Only characters i'm interested it's Engineer & Mr. Terrific; Metamorpho come out more uglier than i'm able to tolerate, god knows wht they added twists on his face, Guy suit way-way-way worse than CGI Reynolds suit, and ffs why Hawkman/Hawkgirl can't just transform theirs wings/maces into cool suits/shields/swords and bikini armour? #ihatewokecensorship and how it's trying to taliban style all women in comics with 90% skin covered.

Why the hell you need a team up in a Superman movie with mid characters such as Hawk Girl I will never understand, and that green lantern looking fellow. Plus not a fan of Godzilla/Kaiju and spandex looking Mr. Terrific(? Who is he?) in this movie. I kinda hoped James Gunn wouldn't do a "Guardians Superman". I really hope this will be good but come on they did Cavill dirty.

Nobody had a problem with Wonder Woman being in BVS, we had a problem with the writing and the overly stuffed plot lines crammed into a 4 hour movie, the justice league videos that were cheaply added, the robin suit that had no build up whatsoever, the shitty, boring plot lines aside from the conflict between Batman and Superman. This Superman teaser without very little dialogue captured the essence of Superman better than Zack did with his messiah, Emo boy Superman whose suit half the time looked like a wet condom.

Pretty much everything you said Tex, but I do think you're still slightly too lenient. I don't think it looks totally bad, but it does look like TV and that immediately makes me think, "Due to Gunn's ego, he canceled a show that everyone loved so he could make a movie that so far shows us things that the canceled TV show could've done?". "CW with a budget" is spot on!! The suit looks too loose, but even more than that, I think if everyone was totally honest with themselves they'd admit that Snyder spoiled everyone will master class film craft, proper cinematic lighting, proper color grading with contrast (not just high key TV lighting) and a main character that looks like SuperMAN, not SuperBOY. Any haters who know recent comics history are really gonna tell me that Corenswet doesn't look more like adult Jon, than something like Reis's or Jiminez's Superman? Really? I do like Krypto, don't have any problem with his shaggy fur compared to smooth. Don't totally hate Hoult at Luthor. But, Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl look laughably bad with their Mr. Terrific copycat costumes to the point of cringe and embarrassment. Also, and this is really the important part. In the trailer, we saw moments where the public didn't like Superman, slow motion during an action scene, and on set photos of Superman in handcuffs. Gee, kinda seems like even Gunn knows who the blueprint is.....

I thought it was a fine trailed. Agreed might be bloated with cast. But do like how they are bringing in Krypto. Same as like James Gunn actually wants to do Robin that's not an adult, Robin if you squint your eyes, or f batman Robin.

My only issues really are just the colors and lenses used, a lot of the colors in a lot of scenes are straight up washed out, TSS had similar colors (in the third act I think) but it fit the vibe of the story and the characters, also disappointed that Metropolis so far doesn't really have that shiny retro futuristic art deco style like in Superpets, but I'm still excited to see it and give it a chance
