School principles or superintendents who ‘drop the ball’ Detectives or officers who ‘fail to follow up’ Judges who commit ‘constitutional errors’ I suspect this is an ad hoc effort by like-minded individuals to cover for each other! As if they see themselves in the accused and therefore pay it forward in the belief the favor will be returned should they find themselves in similar circumstances. So you have to understand, and I'm speaking as a cop.. They can't know that he's a danger to them and lock him up over it to keep them safe. Even if it's something obvious there's just nothing in the legal system we can do when someone is a "potential" risk to someone else, and how could they fairly do that?. If the crime hasn't happened yet (murder in this case, 2x) we can't lock them up over it, as sh*tty as it is. (I'm not talking about his pedo crimes he should've stayed locked up on that one, but thats our justice system) It sucks but they can't predict that he's going to kill them. I had a friend when I was in the military, she was a great person, type of person everyone loved, super happy, fun to be around and accepting/welcoming of everyone, and she had a beautiful little 7 year old girl with another dude in the military who hopefully is rotting in hell. They were divorcing and he went to her hotel room, where another guy was as well for the purpose of helping her move, he shot her to death, the guy, then himself. In domestic situations I respond to where I explain the Ex-Parte process (That's the restraining order in Missouri) I always tell them that YES we can arrest them if they violate it but I always re-iterate so many times that it is JUST a PIECE OF PAPER and if he/she shows up and violates it we still have to respond to get there. I tell them that it's a great tool to have but if things turn violent it will not protect you the way a gun will. Basically me trying to say please arm yourself so you don't get hurt and made a victim by your significant other because you don't deserve to go through that. Unfortunately it falls on deaf ears a lot of the time, I can't tell you how many times I've responded to the same domestic where one party (Lets be real, typically male suspect, female victim) has been beaten and they beg not to arrest their spouse. Well too bad he's gonna face consequences for his actions because luckily in the state of MIssouri (and most states, I think) domestics are the only crime where if the victim doesn't want to pursue charges we can still take the suspect to jail and the State of Missouri picks it up as the victim, which is just an excellent thing.

If a police officer has to make a split second decision to use lethal force when they believe there is an imminent threat, they can be charged with murder. If a judge lets a clearly dangerous person out of jail, after having plenty of time to contemplate the matter, and said person murders a dozen people, there are zero repercussions. Go figure.

No the stats don't show that, hence why they are regularly released on bond. @@Just_selenefrom personal experience.. they can only do what they can do in some cases. If you make allegations and try someone too soon, especially with a victim who doesn't cooperate, it can result in them getting off, not being able to be retried, defense against future allegations.. I'm not saying thats the case here, just something to think about when it seems nothing is being done. Unfortunately sometimes they just have to wait until something bad happens. A legal system that was meant to protect us also protects sus'pects.. innocent until proven guilty.. which is a good thing for the most part but also can end up benefitting crimi'nals as well. There's really no good way to do it otherwise, that I can think of anyway. You want to protect the innocent, make sure people have rights, it just also can be taken advantage of as well. Sadly.
