Matthew Broderick just has that, "everyone's buddy" feeling that belongs with Harold. He is awesome.

I seriously LOVE Zaneeta in this one. And I love that she has black hair so she's not a total dumb blonde. But shes really pretty in this one.

My favorite part of this clip is after Marian hands the mayor the book, she looks back at Hill with this expression that kinda says "I just ripped a page out of a book for you and I'm still not sure if I like you or not but I think I do"

I love how subtle but ever present Winthrop's lisp is in this version. In the original, it sounded like the kid was trying to spit at you whenever he ran into an 's'. In this, you notice it, but it doesn't get in the way of the performance.

I'm in the middle of rehearsals for our community theater version of this show, and happily the director has decided NOT to do the "Sylvester the Cat" version of Winthrop.

Wells Fargo has always been a financial company, but their central role in helping our nation grow was through transportation (stagecoach, railway, pony express). The WF Wagon delivered everything from ice to beer. If you had something special arriving, you looked for the WFW. Just like in this movie, everyone in America knew the wagon when they saw it, and were excited to see it. They even delivered in snow. They just replaced the wheels with sled runners.

The look on Ms. Peru's face at 4:45 on this clip was done perfect. She knows he is a crook--but she's something in the Music Man that is mysterious by todays standards. She see's he has brought hope to all-and few men can do that to a community--Maybe he is not a guy you should just throw stones at because he is a guy. Despite the knowledge of his lies--he still can make a difference--That just wouldn't happen between a man and a woman today.

Actually it does mean something. In an era of people who would be offended by the nature of saying Oh My GOD (it would be considered taking God's name in vain), the substitute was "ye gods" (lower g) to refer to the Roman / Greek gods. Considered more innocent because, to the fundamental Christians of the era, they were inconsequential.

Why is the original movie obviously better? Because it's the original movie? Who says the original is always better? Not that what I saw of it wasn't fantastic, it's just that the original is not always better. Case in point: Hair.

Is it just me or did they put it like 3x the normal amount of black people in the general population? Is it to make up for the fact that there were no black people in the original?
@momopomkom15 жыл бұрын
I think she's better than the " original" pretty uch everyone is a fresh take but broderick. No offense- he does the job in his own way but I like the chemistry between the "original" marion and "Harold hill". No one would say the chemistry is better in this one.

Oh. He was still an asshole. If I get married, I'm gonna stick with my dream guy; cute, friendly, honest, sweet, a heartbreaking singer, funny, smart, loyal, and dedicated. I know, he can't be real, BUT HE IS!! I met him! And he's even better than I imagined! Check out my profile; if you listen to Dance With Me GHS, he's the one that starts singing "The Last Girl"!

Some casting choices I wouldn't have made, but I appreciate that at least there is SOME diversity in this version. And I appreciate that for the most part it is true to the original script. That said, I know this is cinema versus live theatre, but in my eyes there's a significant lack of energy in most of the characters here.
