Felix Klieser is a musician born without arms who plays the French horn with his left foot.
He was always told he could never become a professional musician but that made him even more determined.
He’s now Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s artist in residence and will tour with them over the next two years.

Simply amazing! He makes that French Horn talk and plays it better than many musicians who have both hands. He has control over the instrument like he was born to play it!

I've always liked this instrument. My dad plays it, and I heard him talking about this guy last night. I think there are multiple things to admire about this guy. One is his nice, clear tone, and another is his flexibility. It takes a lot of lower body flexibility to play an instrument without using your arms.
@eco-friendlyvegangeek
@eco-friendlyvegangeek Жыл бұрын
The first thing I noticed was his flexibility - his foot is so close infront of his face, and for so long! Also the determination he must've had to start playing with his foot and get to this point, despite being told multiple times that it's too hard!

For me and the hundreds of others who attended the same secondary school as I in North Wales, we (in a good way) consider this normal. The reason being that a French teacher at the school was born without arms also. He would mark our books with his feet, write on an OHP sheet and that was essentially his 'blackboard'. If we got a question right, he would throw us an unwrapped sweet as a reward and we thought nothing of it and would gladly put it in our mouths. The only thing we had to do for him was carry his lunch tray in the canteen, the rest he did himself. As a consequence, I see someone like this and think nothing of it. Nevertheless, that shouldn't detract from what this musician or my former French teacher have achieved and as many people have written, try hard enough and anything is possible. I am grateful for this as instead of marvelling at this musician playing with his foot, I marvel first at his performance.

Speaking as an amateur horn player myself, I think he is an excellent player by professional standards. But perhaps this should not be so surprising given that from birth, he was accustomed to doing everything that most of us do with our hands with his toes. I also wonder if he can insert a mute (probably) and what he does about playing 'stopped' notes, in which the hand is inserted deep into the bell to give an edgy, snarly sound.
@pauljones8614
@pauljones8614 11 ай бұрын
apparently he has learned to create such sounds using his lips and without needing to insert a mute or his hand, I have no idea how its amazing

anybody else wondering how he uses the trigger? or if he just doesn't use it?
@horndude77
@horndude77 2 жыл бұрын
It looks like he has the horn sitting in b-flat and doesn't use the trigger much. It makes a ton of sense. It's more common for European horn plays to have it sit in b-flat than American horn players anyway. Beyond that it looks like it's setup to push out to switch to be in F. I'm also wondering if he more relies on some fingerings (heh) we other horn players tend to not use as much.

You can see the trigger is custom set up on the other side. Other videos show it is pushed out with his pinky toe.

**Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. There is no other intermediary. May Jesus Bless you, trust Him, give your life - and He will take care of it :pray Convert yourself and believe in the Gospel - Romans 10 8-10 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.♡:* Please read Revelation, the Whole Truth Is Contained in the Holy Bible.
