Personal creepy fact: Elizabeth Short’s body was found 2 blocks away from my first apartment. My elderly landlord told me about it and cautioned me be careful when I went out with my friends. He asked me to leave my porch light on when I went out and turn it off when I got home so that he’d know that I had returned. Today that sounds kind of creepy, but I got a grandfatherly vibe. Sweet man, bless his heart.

The ME who performed the autopsy was very specific about her being surgically bisected. He said that only a well trained and experienced doctor with a scalpel would have been able to execute this bisection... This doctor bisected the corpse by cutting a spinal disk in half, and the ME said this was a most difficult and expertly executed operation, and implied that whoever bisected the disk had done so before, indicating previous experience. Yup, I agree. Like she was the "attraction" and he allowed his guests to do whatever they wanted. Which is why so many different things were done to her body, like the hair, face, and tic tac toe game.

A cool fact about the Elizabeth Short case is that she was identified very quickly (less than an hour I believe) after the FBI received her fingerprints from LA via a very early form of a fax machine, called a SoundPhoto. It was the first police investigation that used SoundPhoto, which was up to that point, just used by the news media.

Ok maybe Red was the person on the other end of the line when George was discussing about shutting the woman up with a pillow. Maybe Red and George were sickening accomplices. Back in those days, they could have talked on the phone all day long and there was no way to track the caller if I'm not mistaken. And, no cell phones to track movement. They could have worked together under the cover of darkness only.
