No idea if these men are guilty or innocent. Their behaviour DOES seem suspicious, but circumstantial evidence should NEVER be the sole basis for a conviction, let alone of this magnitude. But one indisputable fact DOES stand out, and that's the despicable practice of police doctoring statements retrospectively to strengthen their case. Police need to be reminded, in the strongest possible legal terms, that their duty is not to get convictions, but to ensure the safe, smooth running of society. Rewriting reality to "punish" those who have not yet been convicted of a crime is utterly unacceptable.
@mikemckelvey71447 жыл бұрын
Best comment by far. Insufficient evidence.
@johnuk69246 жыл бұрын
This is why I don't like the Police or the CPS. They are only interested in getting a conviction and they twist statements and evidence to get you convicted whether you are innocent or not. If they were in possesion of the drugs then they are guilty but they were never found with any drugs so it should of been a not guilty case. The CPS prosecuter obviously persuaded the jury enough for them to find them guilty, poor blokes.

Also I no myself that Jamie is the last person who is going to be near anyone or anything drug related, I have worked with Jamie and lived with him and from my time I can say he was the last person who would be involved with this, Jamie had only bought a new boat for his fishing business, so how would he manage to pay for 50mill for this.... I generally don't think its possible to see the pots from that far away and I am saying this because I have been on both the cliff top on the island and also fished at the back of the island. Who really knows if they are innocent. I would imagine they played some factor in it. The woman investigating makes alot of nothing statements. One being about the dampness of cocaine which is normal for high quality product. It will be damp and paste like. People like her having an input like this doesnt help the case or the men involved at all. That being said circumstantial evidence isnt ever something to convict on especially over the sentences they received. But whether they were in control of the operation or just men hired to drop the packages is the main question.

I live in the British Channel Islands, and used to fish frequently. For bait, I used to walk right out at high tide behind a medieval castle looking for bait, and every time I was clambering over those rocks I'd always be keeping a sharp eye out for a 'blue barrel'. I've heard stories of them being dumped in the sea full of hash. Some years back, bars of hash were found on the north coast, the theory was a younger dude on a jetski was trying a run from France and it went tits-up. It must have felt like a good day when you guys found that, living the dream man, living the dream 👌

Yea, a fishing vessel miles away from port cant just putter over the 100 meters and grab those packages. Nahhh..... gimme a break. Fishermen buddies thought they saw a chance to get them and their families in a much better place quick..... temptation has ruined many people. Guilty. Ashame, but guilty.

Disorient cocaine trafficking? Nothing fishy about name. Conviction for sure fishy but operation itself was most likely kosher

Might have done it but the police changing the written record after they found the evidence means case has to be thrown out

It's not uncommon in smaller and island communities for people to have more than one job or skill so the idea of a builder who because of the downturn in his trade will look to make up their income by doing something else.

Poor poor drug smugglers got caught.I wonder how many lives have been saved by our police force on this particular case.Drugs not only ruins users lives,it affects the users family and friends lives as well.Not to mention the crimes users do to sustain their addiction.Those scum bag fishermen thought of themselves and only themselves.Don't drop your soap boys.

Man I am still laughing as the one off fishing trip builder is hilarious , the footage of them walking along the pier shows they are gangsters and not ordinary people . Even though the sentences they got was stupid and unfair as killers get much less time .

Well i'm shocked, i didn't know that a particular type of walk made you a criminal, you should write a book about it and liase with the police, then we could lock up more criminals!

11:00 minutes in. I predict police have it wrong, just a feeling... Back in the day, when Portland, Oregon, HAD shipyard work. I had worked on huge ships. Anything thrown from a ship that large, would be sucked into the props, and chewed to hell and back. Sorry cops.You got it wrong. Maybe talk to somebody that can tell the differaece between a cargo ship, and a fishing dingy...

Maybe. The Police do bullshit at times too, well most of the time. Im 50/50 with this case.The messed up with GPS so the cliff too they could of.

When I started my fishing career I was called by Jamie green after I put an advert on a website looking for work as a deckhand. I agreed to go on the next neap tide after a week or two. By grace of god a local beamer skipper called me with a berth I called Jamie back thinking I was letting him down big time mainly due to having a new girlfriend and I didn't want to travel to the isle of wight. I believe this event happened on the next slack tides. People were talking about a few weeks later on the quay and it was in the papers. I kind of think the case is watertight however of you were in the middle of a huuuuge drug smuggling conspiracy why would you recruit a random 20 year old with almost no experience at sea from a message board of a fishing website the trip before. That doesn't make sense. But i cant help but feel I came really close to going to jail which would have been a shame as I ended up marrying that girl and having a kid with her. shivers man. I swear on my mothers life this isnt bullshit I have contacted the lawyers and had no reply i thought it might help the case.

What frightens me is that the police can convict you with such weak evidence. One boat Sails past another boat then a member of the public finds bales of Coke on the shoreline. Surely you need something more concrete than that. And surely if they were actually doing an investigation they would have something more certain.
