On Royal Caribbean, if you book a Guaranteed cabin, you can find out your assigned guaranteed room # right after you check in! You upload your RC Set Sail pass to your Apple Wallet and the bar code will show the numbers under the bar code. The last 4 to 6 digits is your room #!

Booked a GTY verandah on my first Disney Cruise on the Fantsy. It was almost an absolute nightmare. We were at the back of the ship on deck 5. We could feel the shaking and hear the loud noise from the engines. On the first night I could not sleep. I went down to Guest Services around midnight, and luckily they were able to reassign our room to midship. This was very lucky and totally saved what could have been a vacation ruiner. Had the people who booked our second room shown up, we would not have been able to move there. If the entire ship was full we would have been screwed.

It's also worth noting that if you need an accessible cabin, it's best to pay the extra to pick your cabin, as most ships have a limited number of accessible cabins per category. I say this as a cruiser whose partner has mobility issues.

I'm hoping you will find this funny! Booked a guaranteed outside single (solo) on the Rotterdam. The cabin was so far forward on deck 1, that I could see the bow wave! We had heavy seas most of the trip, so I went to bed every night with the sound of the bow splashing through the waves. The cabin was beautiful and cozy, with the best cabin stewards HA had to offer.

To put a different twist on traveling with other guests you know, you might want to be far apart from them rather than right next door. If you could book them accordingly, you'd have the excuse that you saved money by picking "guarantees" and you had no choice in the matter! Unscrupulous, but often very satisfying.

We booked a guarantee twice and we will never do it again. First was interior and given promenade view and it was so loud we barely could sleep. It was a full ship. Second was interior and we were put in the smallest room ever. Even the room attendant and his boss stated it was supposed to be a single person cabin. It was less than guaranteed space and guest services was very rude when we pointed that fact out. We rather pay the difference.

We booked a GTY club suite balcony cabin one time on the NCL Breakaway. I figure there are no bad club suite balcony cabins, and took a chance. Two days later, we got a mid ship club suite balcony assigned to us at a nice location. It was cheaper than a regular balcony cabin. Couldn’t be happier!!

Going on our first cruise in 4 weeks and we just received our cabin number. I was quite anxious since I'm a light sleeper and very sensitive to noises, but from the deck plan it looks perfect. Surrounded by other cabins, even above und below us, no venues near, not too far away from the lifts, but not too close either. If we'd booked our cabin before, we probably would've booked a similar one, but this saved us around 300€, so I'm really happy!

If you are a light sleeper I would chalk this up to success but not count on it. I pay the extra to choose my cabin. That’s why I book a year or more out. You have plenty of time to pay the extras

Honestly, I always book a guaranteed cabin or best available. I ONLY do this on HAL as I know all the cabins and all of them are great for me. I am never in my cabin hardly ever during the cruise, so, I am just thrilled to be on the ship!!!

Last year, we booked Freedom of the Seas and our guaranteed balcony was on the 8th floor midship, excellent cabin, we got very lucky!

I have only done guaranteed cabins. Five so far. It has been my good luck to have been given cabins in good locations, no connecting doors and so on. And you save a lot of money. Recommend doing this unless you are going as a group needing several cabins and want to be close to each other.

I have a guaranteed cabin booked on the new Sun Princess coming out. Chose a guaranteed suite which I'm sure will be just fine since they typically are clumped together in the same area. I'm not too worried.

We just booked a guaranteed inside cabin and got our cabin number immediately on a January 2024 Celebrity Cruise out of Miami. It’s on a main deck, but we’re ok with it. We need something to bring us back to earth after a 12 night Queen’s Griile Cunard Caribbean cruise late November 2023 out of New York.

The only time I’ve done, a guarantee category was on Disney fantasy. It was for an ocean view balcony. We for an aft corner, accessible cabin, it was huge and our balcony wrapped around the corner of the ship! Best room ever.

We have been very lucky with booking guaranteed balcony rooms on carnival out of Australia. We even got one of the rear facing extended balcony rooms. It was on lvl 4, directly above the dining room on Spirit. It was very noisy whenever they did the singing and dancing, plus there was a lot of vibration, but it was worth it for the hypnotising view.

Been 2 cruises with RC. Booked guaranteed inside cabins both times. First on Symphony we had a window looking out to Central Park which was lovely. Literally right above the Park Cafe. Don’t know if that’s still classed as an inside or not. I was worried about the noise at night, but it was very quiet. 2nd on Explorer was a standard inside. Slightly higher deck (7) but cabins all around so still quiet. Maybe we’ve just been lucky that way. As long as it’s quiet, it’s fine! 🙂

We sailed with guaranteed Oceanview cabins on the Disney Magic in January of 2023 and it was AWESOME! We had two cabins and even though we couldn’t choose them, Disney put us on the same deck, same side only about 5 cabins away from each other. One cabin had 2 adults and I think it only cost them $1,600 for a 6 night Disney Cruise. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely utilize guaranteed cabins again in the future to save money on our favorite cruise line!

Had guaranteed as we booked only two weeks before we sailed went for a restricted view outside we were upgraded to unrestricted view. We were very happy with cabin it was only a few doors from the theatre on noise and the postion was problbly an advatage. Would do it again but not sure i would risk the retricted view part we were lucky with the upgrade.

We've been on 12 cruises & just booked our first gaureented cabin this year with RCCL. We were pleasantly surprised that we received a free upgrade from a regular ocean view balcony to a spacious ocean view balcony in a quiet location 😊. However, I know that this doesn’t happen all of the time.

Often it's best to get an actual Cruise brochure of the ship you're going on. Pick out a room cabin that you like according to where position and the size of the cabin oftentimes you can save a lot of money by choosing a deck either above it or below it and the crews book will give you a general idea of how big the cabin is you can then go online put in the actual cabin number and oftentimes there are videos on that very cabin or at least one similar to it. If you go through a travel agency you can get the actual square footage and exactly what is included in that cabin. Sometimes a major price difference can be the difference between the decor of the room. And sometimes there is literally no difference at all between more expensive category then less expensive category. Sometimes it literally depends on what deck it's on.

Booked a guaranteed outside cabin on NCL Breakaway in February of 2022. Received a Family outside which was considerably larger with a much larger bathroom. The location was a little too close to one of the clubs on the floor above but it was pretty quiet during the day and the noise quieted down around 11:30 pm. The price was excellent, so we felt it was a good deal. Plus it was a seven night cruise. We normally book 11-15 night, so we always pay to pick our room for those longer cruises.

We’ve had mixed luck with guarantee veranda cabins. One was an almost completely blocked view, once was what we expected, but one was a two category upgrade to a junior suite!

We booked several times quarantide cabins. We did it on our very first cruise the WBTA with the Disney Magic. It was a restricted balcony and we had to pay it directly in full and there were some other perks. But we had a balcony for the price of a oceanview we originally picked. And we got a few weeks before sailing our cabin number. It was a good room. We did the same at our next cruise. Later we booked placeholders so we got discounts already and choose our cabin. But for our upcoming cruise with NCL to Antarctica we booked an oceanview when it opens. No sail always then, but just a few weeks ago there were sail away cabins and we luckily could change and it saved us € 1000 per person. Oké we have to wait where they put us, it can be on the lower deck with the small round porthole, or the ones with obstructed views. We’ll see. But most of the times we’re pleased with the cabin we got.

Booked a GTY Balcony for our upcoming Anthem sailing and got allocated a midship cabin that would have cost us around £1000 more should we have chosen it at the time of booking!! Worth the gamble for us as we aren’t overly fussed about location, obstructions etc

I booked a Guaranteed cabin on Princess this year as all the cabins were sold out. I ended up with the CRAPPIEST cabin in the Western World. It was TINY and the bed had Murphy beds on the wall that hung over the space beside the bed. I had to bend over to get beside the bed. I have seen bigger closets. I was quite prepared to get back off the boat and fly home. Total GARBAGE cabin. I will NEVER book a Guaranteed cabin again. NEVER !!!!!
