I always look at the lower reviews, and look across many websites. I was disappointed with Tripadvisor who used to be only a review site and in the past few years has become a place to book vacations. There recommended hotels resorts are clearly revenue driven. I was disappointed with my family trip to Cancun at xmas23. The resort was far from 5* even if the ratings were good and recommended as the best by Tripadvisor. The low review comments from other travelers brought up the problems we as a family of 5 adults and 3 teens experienced. All I can say is that thank you to the people who take the time to review on travel websites, google and facebook.

Great video! Very clear and well organized. I wasn’t even aware that Royal Caribbean had small 2000 passenger ships. I would love to see similar videos for Celebrity and Princess.

Princess is still my first choice. I was on the Grand Princess when the Covid crap hit and ended up being quarantined in San Diego for 2 weeks but they were there making sure we had everything we needed. They called us during our quarantined time a few times to make sure we were taken care of. My prescriptions ran out and they made sure I had refills.

The Favolosa is the Worsa cruise ship I ever sailed. I went only because there was a group. Beverage Program I bought a program that read "up to 20 juices." Absolutely misleading. Not 20 juices. 20 glasses of juices so on a 16 day cruise I ran out early. I had to buy an unlimited juice plan which cost 300 euros. Both plans cost 380 euros, that's about $420 US, I never paid for a beverage program on a cruise ship. I ordered Pineapple Juice in the buffett. I was told to go to the bar on deck, in the COLD. How's that for service? Dining Room You can't get coffee and ice cream. You have to go to buffet (deck 9) for coffee. When I got there, there wasn't any coffee because it's only served between 6 and 7 pm, the SAME time I'm in early seating. I saw a couple get ice cream, because they were vegans. I told the Maître d' that if you could service ice cream to them, it could be served to me. I finally got ice cream. You can't get ice cream because you have to go the "ice cream store." That's right. You have to pay for EVERYTHING" You get the idea. I'll NEVER sail on Costa again. I'm looking forward to getting the evaluation form so I can torpedo the ship.

I sailed princess in April 2021. The ship wasn’t full post Covid. I absolutely LOVED the medallion app and want to cruise Princess again just for that. Do you know if the glitches have been fixed?? I’d be so sad to go back just for this and have it not work!!!

Omg I can’t believe Princess is on your list☹️. I only cruise on princess because I love it. I know the older ships need a little TLC but the service and food is great. 😊The app worked great. When we ordered our food came within 15 to 20 minutes. It never felt overcrowded. Not very many children which I loved. I really think it depends on the ship

Cruise Ships mostly purchase their food from Chinese suppliers under contract. So remember that you ard not getting quality here especially seafood wise.

Not surprised about Costa (parents went once with them and had a miserable time) or MSC (I went once and it was truly the worst cruise I've ever experienced), but I am a bit surprised about Princess. Only been on one cruise with them so far and that was before the pandemic (another in a couple of days so fingers crossed!), and it was very pleasant and good enough overall that I would not rate them that badly. It is not quite at the same level as Celebrity, for example, despite supposedly being in the same Premium category, but you can get some good deals on Princess and so I've found it to be considerably cheaper than Celebrity.

Viking by a mile. Yes they cost a little more but to be treated so well all the while not being nickeled and dimed for anything extra is wonderful. The crews are the best in the business and the ships are best in class. In the long run after not needing all this “extra” that is the gotcha part of the low class lines you can have a much more enjoyable cruise for the same or only a little more money. Big plus NO KIDS 😊

After coming off Celebrity Edge and having to pay $US for drinks. And their drink packages are from A$130+ per person per cabin per day. Princess plus @ A$65 per person per day and above is amazing for us here in Australia.

Just got off the MSC Seashore. I had a GREAT time, good food, good bar service and very clean ship. The crew was kind and hard workers. I look forward to my next cruise on the Seashore.

Cannot imagine spending money to sail on a monster ship with up to 6,000 passengers. Ugh! Our experience with Viking has been superlative in every way. Most recently we did Turkey and Greece. 840 passengers. It was wonderful.

My husband and I just returned from a 12 day British Isle cruise on the RegalPrincess. It was our first Princess cruise but not our first cruise. We have a four star status with another cruise line. This cruise was my retirement cruise. I had planned this cruise for a year and made sure that I had everything that I wanted to see and visit in my itinerary. That being said, when I got on the ship and went into my cabin, following watching the lifeboat drill video on our TV I went to click on my folio. Needless to say, All the onboard credit was not there so being a newbie , I decided to make a visit down to guest services. Boy was I in for a rude awakening. The young gentleman that was supposedly there to take care of me and to help me understand why I was missing quite a bit of money off of my onboard credit Did not take the time nor did he care to take the time to help me to understand where the money had gone and why. After about a 10 minute exchange with him giving me the same answers over and over again in his condescending tone I said, thank you and as I turned to leave, he said to me, well there isn’t nothing you can do about it now anyway. I was stunned. The lack of guest service Care really rocked me. Especially since I was a first time cruiser with Princess. He did not have to give me that parting remark because it was very condescending and hurtful. He made no attempt to try to figure out where my money went. Now, as far as my cruise experience went, it was amazing. The food, the staff, the bar staff, as well as my cabin steward was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise part of our vacation, but I will say that Princess needs to work with their customer relations people on how to be sympathetic and empathetic and helpful to their guest when they don’t understand something on their folio.

Thank you for all your work analyzing data to give reviews. I traveled once with Costa. I chose the cruise based on the itinerary. For me, I cared about the places visited more than the ship that got us there. Boy, have I changed my mind. The food was horrible, the decor was ratty and old, the entertainment was subpar, and the six language announcements were incomprehensible. I loved the places visited but I decided I do have to care about the cruise line more. Never been on MSC or Princess but I've heard exactly what the reviews said so I am very wary of them. Isn't it interesting that two of the three are owned by Carnival?

I just finished my 28th DCL cruise. 31st by December! We love it. It’s expensive for sure. It’s hard to say if it’s worth it (compared to other lines) because I haven’t been on a different line since 2009

Though we had an OK experience the previous Princess cruise the last one was crap. They lost my baggage getting on and I didn't see it for two days and it arrived damaged. They lost her luggage getting off and when they found it they gave it to someone who charged me $55 to get it back. The food was so so the mains being less that what we expected for the cost of the fare though the pastry chief is a god! The excursion were a rip off. The Duneden Tari Gorge train trip was $300 where its $85 if you buy your ticks at the station. We were also supposed to stop at Napier where we and some friends were to take part in a Veterans Ceremony but they said they can't stop and no offer of any kind of rebate. Getting off took 3 hours of waiting.

We just finished a Grand Princess cruise, our 4th with Princess. I agree with every complaint you voiced. My medallion didn’t work after day one. I tried to get it fixed 4 times and gave up, but staff often acted irritated with me like it was my fault. Ship beat up and leaking. Wanted to replace the carpet in our stateroom on day 2! We refused. Not a drop of drinking water in public places. Hard sales pitches at every opportunity. Staff untrained and unfriendly. Best lounge often closed for the endless art auctions, each one “exclusive.” Cafeteria food bland and lacking. Really sad. We loved princess but will likely try something else next time.

We have cruised quite a lot on MSC and have thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful ships, entertainment, excellent staff, and yes, we enjoyed the food. I do understand the frustration with ling lines, but people decide to go to the popular areas during peak times, and this is their choice..... of course, they will have to wait. I have NEVER had to wait over 10 minutes for a drink and this is cruising multiple times over Christmas. There are so many bars and lounges one could easily go up the stairs to another bar and get served quite quickly. We will continue to cruise with MSC and are looking forward to our next cruise.

Princess Cruises complaints are all spot on. My family has cruised on Princess for years and they warned me to curb my expectations. I did enjoy my cabin but all the other aspects were sad. Crowed but that is probably an industry-wide issue. Yet, I would still sail on Princess - just not for a cruise longer than 5 days.

In general, some of the experiences can be shared. What contradicts this, however, are the growth rates of some shipping companies. MSC, for example, could not possibly grow like this with passengers who only book once and then leave. There must be a large number of returning fans who like this Mediterranean combination of price/performance. It is also surprising that Carnival Cruises, for example, does not appear on this list. Their reviews on many review portals are downright devastating and in some cases more exciting and interesting than many crime novels. Definitely a line that belongs on this list.

We notice the same issue after the pandemic with P&O. The State room was scruffy to say the least. They were understaffed as well.

On Royal Caribbean, if you book a Guaranteed cabin, you can find out your assigned guaranteed room # right after you check in! You upload your RC Set Sail pass to your Apple Wallet and the bar code will show the numbers under the bar code. The last 4 to 6 digits is your room #!
