It's the most fun to watch the more twitchy, high-speed gamers play this game because the game constantly punishes you for being in a hurry and rewards you for slowing down and taking your time. Prime example: the reflective panels in the desert ruins, rotate slow enough that Jen didn't even see them move the first time; you gotta stand still for a sec to notice them turning.

This game makes the player think without telling them a word. Love it. When I first played it, it captured me. I love watching people play this game for the first time. It reminds me of my first playthrough. This game gave me quite a few magic moments. And it is beautiful.

you asked in the water temple when the point will come to learn something. you learned a lot in this biome, which is an advanced one . but solving puzzles from a far, using switches, the punishment system that prevents brute forcing. there is no guessing in this game. 8 years of development. and every puzzle has a clear solution, even in an abstract presented way. And there are clues to find, but its your knowledge that defines the power of your progress.

Try the talos principle 1 & 2 also if you like first person puzzlers.

i can say for a fact no puzzle in this game is guessing. its about mechanics, awareness, perception.

There's still guessing in the tutorial puzzles. The process of inferring the rules by finding simpler puzzles, solving them by trial and error and analysing what worked or not is what makes this game so brilliant.

@@majorgnutrial and error in an attempt to see if a rule works or not, whether naturally/by feel or methodically, are very different from brute forcing with no intent of learning a rule you are ignoring exists, come on.

Nice to find another playthrough of this game! You play so differently to me but that's part of the fun - I beat my head against an area till it's done but you keep flitting around from spot to spot. That is honestly a good way to deal with difficult puzzles, to give your brain a break and come back with fresh eyes. I never appreciated before how well the open design of this game facilitates that style of play.

Definitely a good one. =3 I'd been thinking about other games I wanted to watch you play, and this was one of them. =D

I’m about 2/3 of the way through this episode and I’m enjoying this stream so far. I once made a comment on one of your Outer Wilds episodes that you probably didn’t need to do so much editing (since a fan of that game can be content just watching the player travel around through the world). But on this game, your editing has been amazing. I was a little sad at 33:37 that you were able to brute-force a puzzle without noticing the clever way the designer intended for it to be solved. A couple puzzles later, you found one of the controls that let’s you move the plate to reflect in the sun, so I hope you retroactively realized you didn’t have to guess or brute-force the earlier one. Anyway, right now, I’m at about the 40:00 mark, and your editing is amazing! You just solved the square puzzle on the floor (which I know takes forever), and you edited it so tight that I didn’t even start to get restless! :-) So, keep up the good work! And I hope you can gain faith that you never have to brute-force anything!

Thanks, it's good to hear editing feedback. I did indeed eventually realize there are controls on the backs of some of the panels so I could have moved them.

That was great! Figured out a lot right away. Definitely making me want to go back and reinstall this as well.

50:25 - I hate the dark water room so much. :-o My least favorite location in the game. I’m glad you gave yourself a break and got yourself out of there. It’s February 1, and I see you’ve done 10 episodes of The Witness. Does that mean you’re enjoying it? Are you going to keep playing?

Yes I hope to finish it eventually! I'm still in the middle of the game I think

I don't like that section much at all. The desert temple takes me longer than anywhere else.

My least favorite was the jungle and all sound puzzles, i ultimately had to brute force them

Started watching and it feels they have been primed with the worst advice "don't try to solve puzzles you don't understand yet". But i do love watching a first experience but that advice should really go away! Will be here for the completion 😊

You look but always fail to see anything. Try to look at things from another perspective than your own and you will see a lot more, and not just in this game, or other games but everywhere in your life.
