I made a trip to London to see the first Queen concert with Paul Rodger in Brixton Academy in 2005. Even there on a screen Freddie had total control of the audience. Amazing show

The other thing that occurs to me, is that yes, his background (born in Zanzibar, raised in India, refugee to England), was extremely unlikely to become a western rock star. But, the challenges are what made him. It wasn't handed to him on a plate. He had to find deep reserves of courage and determination that he wouldn't have had to if he had been born in England, never separated from parents, etc. He always would have felt like an outsider. He was born an outsider - he was Parsi - on an African island owned by the British. His sexuality was condemned by his religion and culture.

Yes. He had to overcome a lot of barriers but he was determined to succeed. His confidence in his musical talent & abilities was a big factor in propelling him forward.

Fifer McGee I had just turned 19 on July 1st. I can remember not moving from the front of the tv while Live Aid was on. So cliche but Queen absolutely stole the show!!! Best frontman EVER!!! We will NEVER see the likes of Queen again. I respect Brian and Roger trying to keep it going BUT Adam Lambert, while he sings really well, imo is an insult to Freddie!! At least them touring with Lambert and the Bo Rhap movie, new people are learning of and really getting into Queen and our ICONIC Mr Fahrenheit!!! R.I.P. Freddie 🌹 We will ALWAYS still love you 😿

Great broadcast! I always think about Freddie’s story and the journey he was on almost from birth to forming Queen. I think about what if Roger & Brian had just dismissed him as an outsider. Thankfully they didn’t and Freddie’s charisma couldn’t be ignored. It truly was meant to be. ❤️👑

Freddie Mercury did not "become" a British citzen, think he was born a British citizen. I know that Bohemian Rhapsody was Queen's 4th alblum not their third. (Sheer Heart Attack was their third album.) This script should have been checked.

I often wonder what he'd be doing today had he lived. He once said he'd not perform live after the age of 40, but given other rock stars of his age that are still doing the rounds now...On the other hand maybe the routine of being in a band would've bored him and he'd be into something else now. We'll never know.
@lorireece19705 жыл бұрын
neil73 Actually, I strongly get the feeling that he’d still be making music today. I really don’t think anything would’ve stopped him from doing what he loved to do.
