My favourite is if you place turtle eggs in some versions, every zombie on the map will try to path find towards it, even millions of blocks away. Another trick is in 1.10, if the block is in a tundra biome and exposed to the air, a skeleton horse trap has the chance to spawn stray horsemen.

Fun fact: You can spawn a big tree by placing a bottom slab diagonally from the sapling.
@Eliotex Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I only knew about a few other methods like: - one glass 1 block above the ground diagonal from the sapling - 2 wooden planks next to the sapling It's actually interesting there are so many different methods with a large variety of blocks to grow a big tree
@deadlydirtblock7698 Жыл бұрын
The reason all these methods work is because normal oaks have stricter space requirements than large oaks. For example, if you place any blocks (apart from logs, leaves or dirt) in a 3x3 area around the sapling 1 level above it, then it will be unable to grow into a normal tree, forcing it to grow large

Could use this to get strays riding skeleton horses in later versions! As it also uses a 0,0 coords glitch. Btw the oak log glitch was looked into back then but was worse than other bedrock breaking methods to get to the void.
@Eliotex3 күн бұрын
Is it actually one of the "worse" bedrock breaking methods? I mean in most worlds you have this log anyway -> zero effort lol Breaking the bedrock above the log is pretty easy, bc you can use beds + vines in 1.8.0. I dont really see any disadvantage in using this strat except it's locked to 0 0
@caspermadlener4191 Жыл бұрын
I remember a bug where some biome dependent mobs were unable to spawn in versions ~1.10, unless you removed the block at the origin. Raysworks made a video about that at the time. Does the bedrock formation around the origin allow access to the block without breaking bedrock? Breaking would probably still be possible otherwise; using the plenty of entity clipping quirks of these earlier versions, you could "easily" send a primed TNT minecart through bedrock. The weirdest glitches in Minecraft are just related to the origin in general. The log is just a symptom of Minecraft's prostate.
@Eliotex Жыл бұрын
You have to destroy bedrock to reach the log. In 1.8.0 and 1.8.1 you can destroy bedrock very easily bc placing a bed onto grass or vines. Yeah quite a lot of bugs are related to the coordinates 0 0 and some of them are even useful for different reasons :D

Programming languages rarely return 0 when dividing by zero. In this case it is a combination of multiple features of the language. Java will either return NaN or Infinity when it is a float division or throw an exception when it is an integer division. In this case, it is a float division so var6, var7 and var8 would have the value Float.NaN. When computing the value for var10, it is cast to integer. Float.NaN becomes 0 at this step not because of the division. This also means that there could be a case where var6, var7, var8 become Float.POSITIVE_INFINITY or Float.NEGATIVE_INFINITY. When cast to int we would get Integer.MAX_VALUE and Integer.MIN_VALUE resulting in different values for var10. That would imply that this bug can wrongly generate blocks at a different position than (0,0,0)
@Eliotex Жыл бұрын
Yeah some smart people already told me my explanation is not correct. Interesting that a log could technically generate at a different place at well. Did you consider the world is only 30 million blocks in each direction? It's quite small in comparison to MAXVALUE or infinity
@welflew Жыл бұрын

There's a similar bug in versions prior to 1.9 with skeletons. If you anger a skeleton, move it to the corner of the wall and then go to the same place inside the skeleton, the mob will start shooting arrows very rapidly, but they won't ever spawn nearby. I recently did a research, and turns out that X and Z coordinates of the spawned arrows actually go to 0,0. I wonder if it's a similar division and integer casting issue
@Eliotex12 күн бұрын
I just tested it... damn that's soo cool. Yeah, it's definitely similar to the stuff shown in the video. I knew it was possible to get an arrow to 0 0 0 by pushing blocks etc (I can find the video somewhere on youtube), but I didnt know it was possible this easily. + I realized the arrow spawns on the inital y-level... soo not always 0, which makes this even more interesting. Thx for telling me! I'll look into this a bit more when I have time
@bipbapboop11404 күн бұрын
Just based on some basic maths and programming knowledge: It probably has to do with how skeletons aim. They probably use player distance, which is 0 in this case, resulting in their arrow landing at 0 0 0.

Dividing by zero raises an ArithmeticException. If dividing by zero yields a zero, it's because they specifically wrote code to swallow up ArithmeticExceptions and spit out a zero, which is comically bad exception handling. Probably because of laziness or time constraints.

*TL:DR;* * Java is a crappy language that doesn’t throw an exception for division by zero. (Not sure why division by zero is resulting in 0 instead of NaN? When did Oracle fix this?) * Notch did crappy testing to catch this edge case. _Conan Exiles_ has a similar 0,0,0 spawn bug.
@EllipticGeometry11 күн бұрын
Computers aren’t too happy about division by zero. If you do it with integer arithmetic, it causes an exception on most systems. In floating-point arithmetic it results in a special value, infinity (e.g. 1/0) or not a number (0/0). Not a number poisons almost every operation, resulting in NaN if any input is NaN. NaN becomes 0 when you cast it to an integer, as happened here. This specific combination of steps was important to the outcome. I know there are more details such as floating-point exceptions. But those don’t really do anything unless you look for them or change modes. Not relevant to this.

0/0 is never 0 in java. If you have integers /0 throws an exception, and if you have floats (or doubles) /0 gives either positive infinity [1.0/0], negative infinity [-1.0/0] or NaN [0.0/0.0].

@ If you’re dividing by a variable, best thing to do is instead do x/max(y,1) for integers. max function returns the highest number in the parameter, so this means the divisor cannot be less than 1.

With the 0/0 thing, you highlight the var6, var7, var8 as potentially 0/0. Although in floating point arithmetic, this should give NaN. In fact, if it went to 0 here, there would be no problems with the code. It is the particular fact that NaN propagates its value through further floating point operations. Presumably "startPos.add" doesn't actually convert the floating point number to an integer, but converts the its underlying integer coordinates to a floating point number to add them, thus propagating the NaN value (this in itself seems a bit weird, but it's the only explanation I can think of). Finally, since NaN maps to 0 under integer conversion, the result from "startPos.add" is a BlockPos of 0,0,0.

That's actually a great idea! In 1.8.0 you can destroy bedrock by placing a bed on grass (with a bedrock in front of it). This means we can easily destroy the bedrock above yLevel 0, but not 0 0 0 itself. To destroy bedrock on the lowest yLevel you would need something like a headless piston or dark oak trees with a lot of bonemeal, which is hard to obtain quickly
