Just a friendly tip, "Ye" is read similar to "Thye". The "Y" is the same sound as the "TH" in Shakespearian "thou" as both come from the forgotten Old Ænglish letter Thorn (þ/Þ), which became obsolete with the invention of the Wuttenberg press print and the need for standarization of the alphabet across Europe. For some reason Thorn became Y in some words and TH in others, I guess based on the availability of the different letter punches at the time. Every time I hear someone pronounce it as written I can't but imagine a green dino screeching "YEEEEE" in my head.

Really happy to have been proven wrong. Thanks again for contributing so much to this amazing frachise's fanbase.

Since I only ever played Anniversary when I was trying to get the main trilogy, I never once thought about the text on the side of the map. I thought it was just to be a simple map codex or something.

Maybe of slight unrelated interest would be that the word "Archon" is an old Greek word for what is, in our understanding, a Politician, Office Holder, General, high ranking Statesman. The Historia Civilis video on Constitution of Athens is helpful. But that sort of can explain Fables old ancient Archons, great old fallen Kingdoms who once sent expeditions to Albion, which is another word irl used to call Britian. And using that we can then look up OLD maps of the world, there's a ton to choose from, but they are all very helpful to look at because we see lots of different interpretations of the World. Namely that Europe is placed in the middle of most maps, and the Americas are nowhere to be found. Sometimes the map is "upside down" with Asia or Africa at the top and Britian at the bottom, and the proportions for all countries are way off, and more used to describe things in theory or as the people of the time envisoned the world rather than a satellite view. If you look up such old maps you will see that the Fable Map is honestly quite realistic in terms of how maps would have been drawn by people in the past, and makes for a more fun Medieval Experience.

I question video game maps all the time, so I’ve just taken them until something major location comes up. Albion’s I took for what it was. Although it is rather odd that Albion’s is just like on edge of some bigger land of apparently lots of mountains And so to create lore around that, they made up some character who’s main drive to do this was locate brothels and cheat on his wife…………what a *hero*

I might be having a very weird DejaVu moment here, but as you were telling the story as written on the map, I seem to recall the.. well, story.. If I'm not mistaken, there is a quest or some reference to this story, I remember something about a correlation between the map and "brothels". Perhaps it's described in a different/later version of Fable? Or I'm just going mad.

Found this content due to having questions about the fable lore and got hooked I never realised William Black is Scythe. I did have a question not sure if there is any information on it because I can't find any. Captain Saker from fable 3 how does he use magic he doesn't appear to be wearing those magic gauntlets and the game seems to suggest. The hero of Brightwall is the last hero
@killergandalf2 жыл бұрын
I Remember that in the prologue of Fable 2, on the glass that your Hero Smash, when shot by lucien, there Is a coded message with the Fable runes. If i Remember correctly, the picture on the glass Is One of the archons and the message was: "Albion Rex WNT" (Rex Is latin for king while WNT means "Windows new technology" aka Microsoft). So the true ruler of Albion Is Microsoft because at the time lionhead was a Microsoft studio
