I'd still say the Terrormorph. Because due to [Spoiler] they are simply far too numerous and can show up anywhere. The person who can pull off a Saitama is much more limited in presence if admittedly more intimidating on a case-by-case basis.

I really hope Bethesda expands on the Terrormorphs in a expansion because this was my favorite quest line in the game. Hell I wish the main story was about the Terrormorphs.

I’m hoping for a space hulk expansion or mod which adds massive derelict vessels like massive cargo ships which have been overrun by various aliens. The UC sysdef could recruit you into another top secret mission to uncover the cause of these hulks. Could even tie it in with the stat borne. Kind of a more horror/thriller leaning quest line taking heavy inspiration from the alien movies

@@GrundleLongDong i hope the dlc plays on the *spoilers for the main story* multiverse concept in ng+ and in one reality you end up in a universe where the colony war never ended, in this reality mechs and xenowarfare are still common, players can choose to get a xeno mount or a mech bam vehicles solved, and it would be a cool plot, could have the factions trying to weaponize the artifacts/create super solidiers with it and you can choose to aid them or stop them would be a cool story imo, the next expansion is titled shattered space, and what would shatter the settled systems but another colony war/war that never ended?

Fun fact: you can actually find the terrormorph that escaped the research lab. After i cleared the lab i did some exploring on kreet i found the terrormorph fighting some mercenaries.

Actually, this is just a random event. Every planet has a chance to spawn a group fighting a terrormorph.

Like timemaster88 said, it is a random encounter. I ran into 2 seperate morphs before I cleared the lab on Kreet. I may have ran from one into the other and was killed, but... I only hit my controller twice in frustration. According to online sources though, Kreet is the only place to encounter Albino Morphs.

Right? On the vanguard mission in Londonium, when like half a dozen heat leaches come out of hiding literally one room over from the Lazarus plants. Seeing them again on Ng+ replaying the vanguard missions, it's like "Oh, that's potentially seriously deadly, like 8 terrormorphs just appearing".

I like the discussion in game dialogue between members of constellation and the player. Definitely everyone was against the Acelles because the microbe, in all scientific communities within the UC, cabinet and constellation, saw the fast and more efficient way to handle a dangerous creature. Me as a biologist (and with what we recently experienced) saw the potential for far more harm. Mutation is a thing and the microbe could just make them go crazy, mutate or something worse. With the Acelles, you have a natural control that’s been there for way before humans even stepped out of earth. Imagine a planet where Heat Leaches could instantaneously shift to Terrormorphs any day. It should be crawling with them, and yet no one saw anything even when Londinian was established. That means Acelles were natural in population control and a slow, but ultimately long time solution to everything. I once asked my professor on why can’t we exterminate something as simple as a mosquito, then he told me that the larva that grows on water are actually part of fish food chains, which if gone would mean that natural nurseries of aquatic life would probably die out. In turn, you don’t mess with nature, because consequences could turn out to be worst than the imagination.

This. This is why I wish the dialogue in the game was more nuanced, instead of just copy-paste "trust the science". Where is the research that led you to the conclusion that this is the more effective option, and will actually work en masse? What sort of research have you done to prove that this microbe absolutely positively trustmebro won't have any deleterious effects long-term? What says the Terrormorphs can't develop some sort of immunity? Instead, all we get is sass, and not even a sarcastic asshat dialogue option to reply with (or any meaningful way to respond other than just "oh, oops").

If you haven’t done a video on it yet. I recommend a video regarding the lore behind a main quest that takes you to a NASA Lab and you find out the origin of how Grav drive technology was invented and the implications of what it cost to do so. As it’s one of the biggest Bombshells of lore in the game! It’s absolutely insane!

On my second playthrough I found it exceedingly interesting but in that very first lab that we explore after leaving Vectra not only were they tempting to weaponize the terror morph, but they were also running experiments on heat leeches. It makes me wonder how early on Vae Victus knew about the connection.

When I did that quest, by the time we saw the council for the first time I was already suspecting the Heatleaches. When we are told they appear on every world humans colonize. My mind immediately thought of the spread of rats (originally from India or China I think) through all the world on board ships. And what does every shipyard tech tell us: be careful of heatleaches. There is more Lore and mysteries to be answered : why do that plant accelerate the growth process? Also I was exploring Kreet and stumbled on one there was 2 NPC fighting it (unsure what factionthey were) what was it doing there and why the NPC were fighting it? (I was lvl 2 when I found it so I could only run at that point and could not search for more answer)

The one you found on Kreet should be the one that escaped from the Xenowarfare facility that you have to go through to confront the Crimson Fleet before Vasco takes you to Constellation.

i think they are the adult forms of heat leaches, the terrormorphs only pop up around human civ's and heat leaches are every where humans are. i think the life cycle goes xenogrub to heatleach to terrornomorph. it takes about 100 years to complete the life cycle witch is the same time frame as terrormorph apperances. my other theory is heat leaches are mutating from feeding on grav drives durring jumps, because the grav teck is based off the artifacts it could be messing with thier genes like it does with the player, but im leaning more toward my first theory

From heatleech to Terrormorph it takes about 70 years. I did the Terrormorph questline and while it was damn cool it was like the cliffnotes of Aliens. Hopefully they can retroactively flesh out the Terrormorphs with DLC drops.

And right before our eyes we saw a Heatleech turn into a Terrormoroph, however its metamorphosis was accelerated by a flora called a Lazarus plant. Explaining why there were so many that attacked Londonian

I finished this questline earlier today, and I loved it. I wasnt expecting much out of being a Vanguard, but it delivered more than expected. I haven't even done any of the sarah missions yet, because I was so immersed in this quest. I hope other questlines in the Vanguard are as good as this one, but in my eyes, only a war could live up to this quest.

I jumped into the water where the waterfall is in New Atlantis and swam to the opposite side for a bez about… I met one of these fuckers! It was a level 10 enemy and I was level 27 at the time and it nearly took me out, it was a real struggle to down it. Why not just use your cutter??? It has unlimited ammo cause it just has to recharge. The dmg may be kinda trash but at least you aren’t burning through ammo trying to kill one tanky enemy. IMO they aren’t worth wasting ammo on and I just pull out my cutter to kill them

I'm surprised no one thought of examining heat leaches or studying them. If they checked their DNA they probably would have figured out they were related to the teramorphs. That only leaves the mystery of what planet were they picked up from and can you go there.

My favourite quest in the game. By that point heatleeches - and the joking comments about them from guards - were well known to me. I didn't clock that you couldn't scan them. The surprise sudden morph really caught me off guard! Hadrian was an interesting companion too, I wish some of these potential crew were full companions with approval etc.

Killed one alpha yesterday on hard mode…luckily it’s in the open. It does “telepathically speaks” to its target, taunting/scaring to give up with some bluish green misty effect. It can be disorienting.

Before doing the quest, my guess was either the grubs, or the leeches. The main clues you get prior are 1) they’re everywhere humans have been/are 2) it takes decades for them to show up Firstly, they obviously have to start off small and they have to look drastically different in their “larval form”. I thought something like the xenomorphs. However, there was a distinct lack of “missing or killed humans” reports so some sort of chest bursted was out of the question or in general a human-morph symbiosis. There would be some sort of ecological mark on the land presumably, you’d probably see them on the surface and since there is none wherever they are…. We’ll they must live underground. We find a few random mines and places where the basement area appears to be the scene of some sort of creature living underground, being unearthed, and killing the miners. There are loading screens that depict underground nests when talking about morphs. With these clues and few others m y main conclusions were “They must start really small and inconspicuous, mundane, something we’d look over and know about. The story beats were familiar, so when I saw the grubs I took note that the grubs appear in human settled areas, they squelch around near good loot and can be found underground. What I didn’t have an answer for was how it would get from a grub to a morph, but there has to be some source of energy that they feed from that can grow them to massive morphs. I took note that the leeches can be found underground, human settled areas, and even attach themselves to ships explaining how they spread. They also absorb heat/electricity a potential source of energy to grow them to something larger. However, we only ever hear and see that leeches are these small things. We don’t even see different sized leeches to give us the impression of some sort of normal life cycle like “larvae, adolescent, and adult”. So while they had the means, the leeches just don’t appear like they grow at all. They seems to just be worms that are all the same length and do the same thing. The leeches being aggressive also kind of tipped me between grubs and leeches, but there was no smoking gun or concrete enough like seeing them transform. I think if we had seen leeches in any other form other then how we always see them, we’d have maybe guessed sooner, except they seem to hit maturity as the worms and only if hit with enough energy or after living long enough, reach their final stage of life…. Unless they can transform again if hit with more juice….

As much as I looooved this quest chain and the whole lore behind it all, it did bring up one question for me, how the hell did people not realize heat leeches could be baby teramorphs?! Hm, this creature seems to follow humanity wherever we go... I roleplay pretty hard as a crimson fleet captain/freestar ranger, so it took me forever to do the UC quests, but taking out those overgrown leeches was the most fun I've had so far, and I did that when I was level 95, so the bugs were truly MONSTERS

My wild speculation was that the Terrormorphs were what happens when a Starborn goes through the Unity too many times. Completely no evidence for it, but that’s what my brain was fixed on.

Theres another comment that speculates that because heat leeches feed on grav drives, and grav drives are made from the artifacts, its messing with their genetics. So you're theory isn't entirely baseless

Has anyone discovered anything about the xenogrub yet? Rather than they are everywhere light years apart locations just like heat leeches, and make creepy wet noises. Though they may not be a threat, I think it might be a mystery worth looking into. If i had to speculate, the xenogrub could play the role in the terrormorph's life cycle. It could be a hatchling that would eventually form a cocoon and mature into a heat leech. Considering heat leeches sometimes pop out of the egg like shell, as seen inside the top locker on the first floor in the Kreet facility, and other place off the top of my head would be the Star Cruise Trident ship yard's vent. In the latter case, I don't think those are Terrormorph's eggs as they would have to be there to lay them, and if they were there people in that facilty would have all been slaughtered. So there must have been another way for those "eggs" to get there and my theory about xenogrub maturity would make more sense.

Those are not grubs they are a type of maggot and there is a mutation that is lvl 75 that you have to fight in a quest but it’s bugged and not available to do until it’s fixed

The grubs normally sit around good loot, so for gameplay purposes that seems to be why they are there However, I agree that there probably is more too them that hasn’t been expanded on yet

Bethesta should make a pure Terrormorph DLC with long and expended storyline only dedicated to joining the Colonial Marines to research and fight the Terrormorphs, finding their weak spots and ideal lasers to shoot them, and more. With the Terrormorphs being able to break through the ship´s windshield when parking it on an infested planet, and abandoned research bases where these creatures have already transformed the lower floors into their breeding nest. Oh this DLC is going to be PERFECT (if done by Bethesta.) Another great idea would bring a new species similar to the Star Trek Borg into the Starfield universe, that transforms their hostages into undead cyborg zombies, leaving heavily modified ghost ships behind that look like walking into a giant computer with these undead cyborg-zombies lurking inside. These ghost ships currently undergoing transformation and assimilation holds the most sophisticated tech in space (like camouflage for the whole ship) but also with high risk of getting assimilated into their giant space-machine collective. Aw the possibilities for Starfield DLC are endless like space itself................

The thing i did discover about Kreet is thats the moon is heavily in invested from terrormorghs. More than 90% of my landing spots showed 1 or more TM's on the location, also in different subtyps like a Albino's. On Kreet i also found a huge building complex that was swarmed with TM's and dead ppl.. Well by accident i also found the big pirate base from the red crimson fleet and in there below a table i found a briefcase with more than 460.000.000.000 credits but sadly could not pic it up in my inventory..

One thing I noticed on that first vanguard mission. I see a lot of blood... but a lot of the bodies seem to be missing... blood trails look like some were dragged off...

When I first encountered the concept of the Occisio Machina on Kreet, I thought it might be a human that had been infected by a grub and become the beast. It's quite common in alien and science fiction movies and books.

I didn’t encounter one until I already beat the main story and the Crimson Fleet story. I started the UC storyline and when it appeared I killed it easily. Didn’t even have to do all the quest objectives.

I always measure a creatures threat level on the basis of "would a Predator hunt this beast" And the Yaujta would definitely hunt Terromorphs
