Steamrolled may be an exaggeration but but all accounts Poland was actually holding out against the German invasion very well for the first couple weeks. And just a decade earlier they successfully defeated a much larger Soviet invasion, the Poles had combat experience and were pretty damn good fighters in 1939. Idk if they would've "won" necessarily, but without Soviet intervention they may have been able to hold out long enough for France and Britain to organize a counterattack into western Germany that would've forced Germany to withdraw their forces. In fact that was something HItler was extremely worried about during the Polish invasion, it was taking too long and he was watching an army build up on his western border when nearly his entire army was in the east.

Pre war Russia had a full military strength of around 1.1 million active duty. Of that, the Army and Naval infantry consisted of around 600,000. Between the mobilizations, theyve fielded an additional 300,000 troops. 900,000 men. Thus far, the estimates on casualties are all over the place. But general consensus for sources not affiliated with Ukraine or Russia is Russia has had 315,000 casualties. Lets say half of those survived, and we'll say 2/3rds of those survivors weren't injured badly enough to be sent home. that is 157,500 dead, and 51,975 who were injured too badly to continue fighting. that is 209,475 troops lost in terms of combat strength. The US on the other hand has only fought 2 wars that took more casualties. The US Civil war that saw 4.5 million men under arms in the most brutal fighting on either of the american continents. And World War 2, the largest conflict in world history

The number 1 rule of rethoric is to win the likeing and trust from the audiance. The message itself is less important and comes second. And the third most important thing is to keep peoples attention by doing something unexpected if they start to yawn or look on their phone and lose focus. Putin did not at all care about forming his message for his audiance. And if he had a point, then it was drowned out in 4 hours of boring nonsense. And the interview was boring. If you don't want people to yawn and look at their phones or shoes when you are speaking you need to do something interesting or unexpected. Sitting in a chair and talk about history 800 years AD is a good way to get the average Trump voter to stop watching after 10 minutes and switch over to watching Nascar instead. And I cannot blame him. Watching this garbage for 4 hours is just wasting ones life. His support for Hitler invading Poland was a funny highlight of the interview, but it doesn't win sympaties of western voters. It will only turn the west even more against him.
