@@chongliu646 I'm old enough to have watched the evolution of "Karen". It was coined online by millennials, pre-social media, and explicitly referred to women with too-high standards for commercial service ... from the perspective of inexperienced and lazy youths in the service industries. Because of the demographic shifts in America, as the term slid into use by GenZ, it took on a racial element, because young people in the 21st Century are increasingly not white. They are no less OBNOXIOUS than previous generations of American youth, but now they could blame all criticism on older women's racism. Very convenient! And for every video of a disturbed woman holding up a cellphone, remember that we have evidence of that only because the "victim" is also aggressively documenting the interaction. How do we enforce a common standard of decency in society without calling out the obnoxiousness of youth? Just because the outlier events blowup online doesn't mean there isn't a legitimate need to call out cultural disintegration.
