@jazzcat93633 жыл бұрын
Real talk, therapists need therapists, too. I knew a lady who was seeing a therapist after she attempted suicide (suffered from extreme grief after her husband and child were killed in a car accident). The therapist she was seeing had been in the business for nearly 35 years. She goes in for an appointment one day and finds out that her therapist committed suicide the night before. My best friend, who is also a therapist, said that he occasionally goes and sees someone. Being bombarded daily with clients suffering from depression and anger takes a mental toll on therapists. And if they don't go and get themselves taken care of, they're mental health will start to decline as well.

All I could think was that Pluto's size wasn't the reason for it losing it's status, but the fact that it hasn't cleared it's orbit. And yeah, I'm fun at parties, cause I go to parties with more weird nerds like me.
@Tantalus010 Жыл бұрын
@@creativedesignation7880 It really was sort of its size...at least in part. There were doubts among astronomers about Pluto's planet status due to its strange orbital characteristics (Pluto's orbit is significantly different in several ways than any of the eight major planets) going back to like the 1970s. We started to find lots of objects out there that had similar orbital characteristics as Pluto, but were too small to be considered planets. Then, in 2005, we discovered Eris: an object out in Pluto's neck of the woods that shared its weird orbital parameters, and at the time, we thought it was larger than Pluto (turns out it's actually a little smaller, but more massive than Pluto). Since we thought it was bigger than Pluto, it led some to start calling Eris the tenth planet. That was basically the straw that broke the camel's back and led to the IAU's reclassification debate in 2006. So, yes, the criterion you mention is the official reason Pluto isn't a major planet anymore, but as usual, reality is messier than that (astronomy pun not intended).

"Were you able to discuss these feelings you were having with them?" Why do therapists think we're going to tell hurtful people about our feelings? People would rather be with friends. A therapist I saw in the 8th grade said something similar to me - like kids in the 8th grade would have cared.

All it takes to make this good advice is to remember that if hugs are a form of expressing your feelings, then so are punches.

There were some people wanting to bully me. The therapist suggested I say to them, as I remember the quote, "Is there some problem guys, that you are having with me?" or along that line. I mean, that MIGHT embarrass some people off from me, but how much of a nudge would it take for multiple people wanting to bully me to just encourage the others to keep bullying me, even worse than they were before? Besides, I was in the 8th grade - why would I want to sound like a 40 year old as if I'm dealing with other 40 year olds?
