among the thousands of stories I have read and listened to, this one is easily the most unsettling. it just feels so... off, so unsettling in a way that's hard to describe. I don't think I have ever seen the unknowable, ineffable aspect of cosmic horror done this well before, not even by lovecraft himself. there is no way to describe it, no way to understand the nameless dark, it just is. and this story couldn't have done that better.

I had a hard time seeing any of the antagonists in these stories as like, evil, or even like, scary, like maybe except for the gnawing thing. A lot of the others felt like it was hard to tell the danger level at all so it was hard to be scared. It's interesting stories thought.
