Don't let this distract you from the fact that in 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team. Also, I enjoyed this video

I got mine yesterday…had no way to power it as I have an old laptop (no USB C) and I didn’t have any power supplies in the house. Fortunately, my partner’s phone charger saved the day 😂. I was quite impressed with the unit. The app is fantastic and easy to navigate. I hope in time they add PC/Mac editor, but other than that, it’s perfect for me. I also have an FM3 which I love too. I feel the Nano is the perfect companion for the FM3 and I plan on using them both for different things.
@brettphillips2309Ай бұрын
But I love the fact that it is simple and straight forward. It has a great delay and great reverb. I just wish they did include an overdrive. Like two overdrives would be handy. Do a tube screamer and blues breaker and call it good.

I've been enjoying the pedal immensely. I was originally focused on plugins for even live use but got tired on the boot time of my DAW with all my VST's. This works for 80% of the guitar tones. I am also using it as an audio interface for midi guitar and keyboards. There are too many captures on the cloud to audition so I focus on artists such as yourself for tones I can try out.

Really enjoyed the "Human Nature" improv at the start. You've been one of the worst things to happen to my playing-I'm spending time watching your playing that I should be spending practicing myself so I might one day be half as good. 8-( I think at 4:00 Elodie was giving you a veiled criticism of the Nanocortex-that it's missing a comb filter block. -Tom

I have an FM3 and Nano Cortex. I use the Nano daily. Being smaller it's easier to stash in my living room along with headphones. I really like the sound of it through speakers as well. I ignore the comments online which in this case are mostly negative and probably from people that don't own and use it. I love my Nano.
@ozgunkaleliogluАй бұрын
John first of all thank you very much for bringing us such a nice channel. Nano Cortex is now on my pedalboard. Cry Baby - Boss Cs2 - Friedman Overdrive - Nano Cortex - Hx Stomp XL - Warm Audio Canvas Stereo. I got amazing results using IR cabinets from Hx Stomp. It pairs really well with a pedal like Nano Hx Stomp. If anyone has questions about the same setup I would love to help as much as I can, thank you again.
@alessio.rispoliАй бұрын
I want to try a very similar setup with the normal hx stomp. I will get my nano tomorrow. Are you controlling the nano via midi with the stomp? Is the Canvas necessary to complete the setup? Mine will have only nano and stomp.
@ozgunkalelioglu26 күн бұрын
@alessio.rispoli Hello, yes there are two options, if you want, you can control the nano with midi control. Another option is to connect it in the form of hx stomp after the nano and only open capture from the nano and cabin sim from hx stomp. You can get very efficient results by using it.
@quiqueberro-garcia24459 күн бұрын
Hi ! I hope you're well..question, I had the Helix which I sold later basically for the size, now I have the HX Stomp XL,and I've been thinking that maybe I could use both..(Still don't have the Nano ) I could use the amps from the Nano and the effects and drives of the HX Stomp. What I don't know is what would be better in terms of conections,to insert the Nano in the effects loop of the HX stomp so I can add it to the chain wherever I want or use it like a normal pedal...
@Margilio5150Ай бұрын
I’m kind of on the fence for this one, midi connectivity is a plus, considering it doesn’t have a screen. The drop pedal functionality is another big pro, the only con to me is the lack of a pc editor.

Wonder if the point with so many of these do-everything units is what the nano cuts out of the conundrum- people can’t decide if QCT/Helix/TMP is the right choice because sound fifty-eight of one isn’t as good as sound thirty-six of another. Perhaps you’re getting to the crux of it here suggesting there is enough in the nano….and echoing the stance of Mr Zappa - shut up and play your guitar?

If I could use a digital version of my own amp, a trem/vibe and great tape delay instead, it could function as a backup rig. Not sure it's flexible enough and I don't want to be tricked into something too locked down.

I put mine in the loop of an HXFX and use it as an "amp block" and I think it's great! I've captured my Komet K19 in two states, clean-ish and dirty-ish and it is the best digital experience I've had to date. I use the HX drives in front and HX delays and verbs after.
@mikestein8775Ай бұрын
I don't understand why someone would put the nanocortex in the fx loop of the HX stomp? Doesn't HX have amp models on it already? Even John is saying he prefers the HX Stomp and I've seen another KZbin creator say he captured his HX stomp on the nanocortex because the HX is so great. Am I missing something? Or is the Nanocortex really preferable for processing your DI sound? I'm asking purely out of curiosity because I'm just trying to process my DI guitar sound for live applications and can't figure out which product is better.

Im more and more convinced mine was faulty. It sounded pretty bad regardless of what profile i tried and it didnt take any kind of gain pedal upfront without acting weird
@nikhilnarahari8424Ай бұрын
Definitely either faulty or there's something weird going on with your signal chain (impedance mismatch or something?). Mine sounds absolutely exquisite - it's almost like you can't get a bad tone out of it if you tried (with the factory captures at least). I have a Keeley Aria out in front of it for compression and drive and it's perfect

Hi John, great videos! Question, what mic did you use in this video when talking? Thanks!
@philhatton3053Ай бұрын
I did some captures on mine yesterday. There is a difference, the gain structure isn’t quite the same, it also takes away some of the top and bottom end but in a band mix you wouldn’t know. I used Tonex before this and firstly I think the captures are better with the nano cortex and secondly the fact that in 30 minutes I was able to do 8 different captures of by amp without needing a preamp box or laptop made the whole capture process so much better than the Tonex. Also, the Tonex software is hideous from a user perspective, very unfriendly to use. As a practice solution and as a backup rig option the Nano makes a lot of sense
@brettphillips2309Ай бұрын
I love the tone of it , but I have some weird stuff happen sometimes with it. The sound sometimes comes in and out and I was using the app one day with it and all of a sudden it started sounding like someone flatlining on a heart monitor. So I need to get it repaired
@perforations6234Ай бұрын
that sounds like the Line6 Express Black we got us is better than the Helix or AxeFx2 that it's the backup for... obviously it isn't, it misses out on a lot of stuff... as backup device it's ok, for that one hopefully never happening case of one of our setups fail ;)

@mgdewАй бұрын
I agree completely. I have the QC and spend way too much time trying new amps and captures than just playing the guitar. I think the nano is my next purchase. I can use the QC to be permanent in the mini home office studio to audition things but when I want to practice or just play I’ll have two or 3 basic presets on a nano with my iems plugged in.
@franki68Ай бұрын
Given I (and many many others based on feedback) find the qc needs the least tweaking of any of the modellers(I’ve had most of them) and the limitations of the nano I’m not convinced by this argument in the slightest .

I wanted to like the Nano Cortex but it didn’t work for me. It had such an artificial and unforgiving stiff tone to play on and was no fun at all. I tried everything I could think of and couldn’t make it any better. My Neural DSP plugins sound so much better. I even tried to capture my favorite plugin and that failed too. Playing back on it again, it still had that same stiff unforgiving tone that was a struggle to play on so I returned it. I guess I am no longer in the hardware unit game and will stick with plugins. To each their own. 😊
