*Quick note about the World Map shown at **20:18* I drew that map. It is based on the official Map we got all the way back in 2nd Gen (specifically seen in the JP only Hunters Encyclopedia) and on speculations made by GaijinHunter in his "Map of Monster Hunter" Video you can find here kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnrCh6OLnqadhas. Newer locations, such as Kamura, are complete speculation by me. Anything besides the 2nd Gen Map is not "canon", as we haven't gotten an official world map since 2009. But i do believe the map presented in this video is a good intersection of official material and reasonable assumptions, so I will continue to use it going forward.

I've noticed that valstrax is very capable on the ground (at least for a skybound species). For that reason I theorize that they do land often, but perhaps only in places people don't visit often, or are completely inaccessible by land. Maybe valstrax is like an albatross. Flying across vast oceans, and nesting in barren, rocky islands.

Part of the reason I respect the Volvidon is that it is analogous to a really interesting and often underestimated group of animals. In our own real world even power house predators like Jaguars are hesitant to take on Giant Ant Eaters. One swing from their claws can cripple other animals, since in comparison to the near concrete hardness of termite and ant mounds a living creature is made of tissue paper. They are such a bizarre and fascinating group of animals that they fit right in with the setting of Monster Hunter.

The Blood Orange Bishaten doesn't always spit its fiery saliva onto pyrecones - any time it wields two together, it conserves the fuel for its fire by striking one against the other, using their rough outer shells to ignite one another via friction, like matches. Using its saliva to ignite pyrecones is only used when tossing a singular pyrecone as a grenade, or when it shatters multiple cones on the ground and flies through while spewing fire to ignite them and make a fire trap. There's a number of other unmentioned species of monsters that roam the Sandy Plains as a preferred habitat. Most notably, Barroth calls its muddy oases and caverns home, and Diablos can be seen munching on cacti in the area. Anjanath can also be found here, and frequently run afoul of Diablos in the process - Diablos generally being the winner of such confrontations, although almost never unscathed. I've noticed Seregios aren't very aggressive in the Sandy Plains. Their threat display usually wards off most monsters they could readily kill, and those that would put up a fight - like Diablos - they typically just fly away from. In fact the only monster near Kamura or Elgado I've actually seen a Seregios stand its ground and fight is Gore Magala, and brother, those fights are brief but *vicious* let me tell you. Who wins is a toss-up, but neither of them get away with it unhurt. I've only seen that happen in the Shrine Ruins and Citadel, though, as that's the only places I've seen both Gore Magala and Seregios share an environment. You raise a good parallel between the Crimson Glow Valstrax and the Savage Deviljho, and honestly, I believe it's the same phenomenon. Something either damages their Dragon sac, or causes it go over-activate, creating a positive feedback loop of adrenaline and dragon energy that overwhelms the creature. I think though, that Valstrax handles it a bit better than Deviljho, as I've seen Crimson Glow Valstrax have moments of calm. I even photographed one in the Flooded Forest sitting calmly amidst a pack of Wroggies and next to a sleeping Nargacuga, making no effort to attack either of them - though the Wroggies were certainly panicking and making threat displays towards it. I've never seen a Savage Jho coexist peacefully with anything short of an Elder Dragon, and then only by running away. I think that the Crimson Glow Valstrax is simply a very old Valstrax, whose Dragon Energy has built up, like a residue, and thus they periodically descend to the ground to briefly go nuts and unleash excess Dragon energy, before finally regaining control and returning to the skies. I've noticed that they don't often attack any other monsters deliberately, and even then it's usually just enough to convince them to back off. They usually attack terrain features or buildings; hard, stationary targets that let them vent a lot of energy at once. They also seem to go after Hunters with particular fervor - like they've had encounters with us before. I've also observed that Crimson Glow Valstraxes can produce Red Serpent Orbs - which are crystalline orbs of condensed Dragon compound, much like outsize pearls. This is completely unique to them - other forms of Valstrax drop smaller crystals called Mindstones.

Personnally, I don't think the Seregios and the Bazelgueuse are that closely related, the Bazelgueuse's scales are more akin to highly unstable secretions and other than the fact that they use projectiles and the chin spike (also present in stuff like the Rathian), there isn't many similarities. In my opinion, the Seregios is closer to the Astalos, considering their overall body shape are more similar and they both posses a specialized headcrest that can move, something that, if I remember correctly, only those two have among all Flying Wyverns. Maybe the muscles that control the bladescales under the skin of the Seregios evolved from the same set of muscles that make Astalos able to produce its electricity, this hypothetical common ancestor having a mobile headcrest, and scales that could move, maybe purely for display purposes...

@@ricardobarsch4117 I wasn't speaking about Seregios in this part, I was speaking about the possible common ancestor of Astalos and Seregios, and my hypothesis that it used specialized muscles just under the skin to move big scales for display, because it's a common reason into the animal kingdom, and because Seregios itself still uses them like that to an extent. These scales later evolved into Seregios' bladescales and disappeared in Astalos, but the muscles underneath stayed and evolved to be able to produce (and maybe store) electricity.

Theory about valstrax what if the reason they spend all that time in the upper atmosphere and fly around at super sonic speeds is actually to keep the constant build up of dragon element down. But if they land for too long they become overwhelmed with dragon energy making it so that if they were to ignite it like they did before they'd blow themselfs up so they become extremely territorial because they are stuck to the ground Also id like to point out that the sand plains seem to be a high dessert so while we might not realize it. It actually might be pretty high up from sea level or even close to the top of a mountain. Making it a totally legit place something that lands on mountains would land on or fall on

You know: with the Valstrax and Deviljho similarity of Dragon energy seeping into them causing much pain... The New World commission team actually has kept a iron grip on classified information otherwise burnt elsewhere - particularly on Alatreon. Alatreon just produces an obscene amount of dragon energy - even entering a State where a majority of its elemental properties are draconian, a jack of all trades. One can only ponder how discomforting it is for the thing despite its terrifying mastery over the elements.

@Dotexclamationmark Жыл бұрын
Perhaps the Crimson glow Valstrax lands so often in the plains is because of the heat. If draconic energy is seeping into its muscle, hide and blood perhaps the warmth of the area helps soothe its pain even for a tiny bit. Warmth is a common source of pain relief so the hot sand/rocks of the plains are the right temperature.

what if the reason crimson glows dragon sack is damaged is because it spends alot of time grounded in the sandy plans for breeding and isnt putting out as much energy causing it to overflow with energy explaining why it does more lazer attack, also meaning crimson glows condition is similar to black diablos as its a side effect to breeding, possibly causing them to die like salmon
