The 2004-05 Sonics and 2007-08 Hornets were my favorites of these teams. Both really fun to watch. I really hoped they both would continue their success, but they couldn’t. The 2022-23 Kings are headed in the same direction as those two teams. As a Bucks fan, I’ll give you another one from a few years earlier. The 2000-01 Bucks went 52-30 in the midst of a bunch of mediocre seasons. They went to the ECF against the Sixers and were cheated out of a Finals appearance because the league wanted its three most marketable stars at the time, Kobe, Shaq, and Iverson, to all be in the Finals. That 2001 Bucks-Sixers series, along with the Kings-Lakers WCF the next year, which was arguably worse with regard to referee calls, were my first two hard lessons regarding the business side of sports. I was 9 and 10 at the time of each series.

The 07 We Believe Warriors shoulda made the list. Nobody saw them destroying the Top seed Mavs with a reigning MVP on that team and then giving the Jazz a legit fight in the next round.

What’s funny about the We Believe Warriors is that they actually were six games better the next season but missed the playoffs because the West was insanely good.

Wasnt that team the 8th seed? That team doesnt fit the narrative. These were teams that had great regular seasons. Keep up
