This came all the way from the UK and was bought by 4 good friends of mine.

11:03 the pathetic zoom could be due to the high image size. On Sony Ericsson phones if you use the high image size, you can't zoom at all.

Absolutely correct! Just tried it at 640 x 480 and zoom is fine so yeah that was the issue. Didn't even think of it! Thanks for letting me know :) (I never daily drove a Sony Ericsson, probably explains it lol)

on android phones it's the other way around. That means on a very low resolution image, you can't zoom in at all (in gallery)

I am Korean, and that font is usually known as "ugly", thus not really used on anything commercial unless it is a product from foreign companies(like Microsoft) or as a joke.

MediaTek and MStar is one company but they didn't use to be, they merged a decade ago. MStar is familiar to me because you have their products in your house guaranteed. PC monitor scaler processors, which also do those shitty menus and all the input stuff, they're basically the monopoly there, also pretty big in TV scalers, and another area they're pretty large in is satellite/cable set top box SoC. I was not aware they were making GSM SoCs as well.

As a Chinese, I can say that this is those kind bootleg phones you'll see in small cities in Mainland China. And they use WAPI network standard that might not work well outside Mainland China. (In fact situations that might use WAPI is quite rare now)

30:15 there actually *is* a touch build of Doom RPG. it isn't a great one, but it uses your screen as the keyboard, so i guess that works. also there used to be a windows app that added this kind of touch support into any game of your choice

That reminded me of the Chinavasion Odyssey I used to have, and I won't be surprised if it was made by the same ODM that made that. Mine had a UI skinned to look like iPhone OS 2, while yours was skinned to look like iOS 4, and you also reviewed a fake HTC phone that ran the same OS as both phones but skinned to look like some version of HTC Sense that I couldn't remember the version of (but the real thing ran on top of Android 2.1 if I recall correctly)

The battery thing you did reminded me what I did to my poor samsung ace gt-s5830i. I took one of the older note 4 batteries we had at home that was unused. It was too big but it held on fine with some tape. I wasn't able to use the camera but I really didn't missed out on much.

Given that the CIF resolution video can zoom in while the 1024x768 photo mode can't really, I'd guess the sensor is just slightly more than that, around 1 MP, and for whatever reason it doesn't want to interpolate. (Edit: or rather, doesn't want to interpolate too much.) I can see how awful that photo quality is even watching this video on a 3" Jelly Star strapped to my arm while I'm doing other stuff.
