India is almost like EU with different religions, customs, languages and politics. So India is the real example of Unity in diversity, and can make the best out of it.

There should be more summits like this - with more interaction with the youth. It would be beneficial to both sides of the panel.

Thank God the discussion ended in a positive tone and with right message. Disgruntled Barkha tried hard to keep the discussion centered around only "secularism" which she and other self-claimed "keeper of India's essence" have devoted themselves since the Modi Govt comes in the power. I completely second the opinion of Dr. Hamied and Jubin Mehta that, it is the quality-affortable and universal education which should be the cornerstone of our our discussion, rather than secularism. If we succeed in providing quality education to everyone irrespective of his/her caste religion and social status, we would be in a position to afford a informed, rational and thoughtful society which would take care of their personal matters including religion. Education with the blend of morality enables oneself not just to earn respectable livelihood but also teach the rule of society and the manner in which one should treat our brethren. All the imaginative concerns of secularism and plurality will get evaporated from the mind if we give our undivided attention, financially and emotionally, to the task of creating a informed, educated and learned generations.

Govts. at all levels should give priority to quality education, health and skills. India is our motherland and every Indian should do his/her best for the motherland to make it an exemplary country of peace, progress and prosperity. India's population growth should slow down till it removes poverty from the country. Every Indian is made an asset to the country. Unity and peace should be on every responsible person's lips.Without peace, progress and prosperity is meaningless.

Narayan Murthy is very clear in his thoughts. Plurism is a way of life for Indians. 1.3 billion people are the real assets of our country and every political party should be concerned of their welfare and progress.

India is a country of humanity. It shows the greed, incompetance, ignorance, contradictions and apathy of humans towards other humans. So all intellectuals including the ones on the panel, religionists and others must look at their behavior on how their thought actions and theories are working in real laboratory. Unfortunately Amartya Sen still talks about majority minority instead of talking about Insaniyat.

Can we atleast ask Barkha Dutt to give the due respect to the panel present there? I mean they're some of the most respected people of our country whether we agree to their viewpoints or not. I heard Ms. Dutt address Mr. Fali Nariman as "Fali" several times...

What a sham that Burka Datta is anchoring a discussion on 'protecting the essence of India'. She got a fellowship at Brown university, through Varshney, who is a blatant anti-Hindu advocate, who also hosts her regularly. Her pseudo-secular eyes are hardly veiled in this program aswell. Time and again she is trying to cut down Arun Shourie here. So amusing to see she speaking of the philosophy and essence of India and its protection. If not for Hinduism's 'ekam sat vipra bahudha vadanti', were does the plurstic Indian mind/essence/philisophy arise.

Bakra got her handpicked panel who would fit to her point of view! Perhaps, Mr Shourie has spoiled it for her! How awful for her! Indian pluralism is the result of the Sanathana Dharma and its tenets that permits multiple belief systems without any discomfort. It can be a model the rest of the world could copy to bring peace in their societies! No need to carry the 'coal to Newcastle', that we have enough of it!

In this debate , the BHARKA DUTT herself is not objective, she is partial. ARUN SHOURI is 100% correct to say what is the meaning of secularism - is imported from EUROPE . SECULARISM claimed by communism is totally faulty. AMARTYA sen is playing jugglery with words and is wrong with his own lifes example.

Iam an indian.iam shameful to say it's still poor. Because many Indian they look like poor. Narrow minded"conservative. So long Indian aren't rich by job @activities, mutual understanding with no caste, color'minority:majority. India wouldn't be great country. Until unless Muslim aren't in power full.like they rulled over India over 900 years in the past.this is an example to India. Those who love the country. For me I would say simply that make people eligible to stop female infanticide"stop rape'start follow your scriptures atleast, stop killing your mother; sister; aunty.try to save their lives. After all @your religion'Hinduism'christianism, Buddhist, &Judaism are not a good religion which will never be accepted in the sight of almighty God. So anything is useless except Islam. Try to rectify your religion first.then make better India. Where you will go after death"hell or heaven. Decide now!
