Competent generosity is the key for healthy masculinity.
Jesus prays that His Church is never without shepherds. This world and His Church is in need of leaders, of shepherds, and of fathers. While we will always need women and mothers, we stand in particular need of fathers at this moment in history. We need both: strong and generous men and women to place their strength at the service of the people around them.

And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. 9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 *Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.* 10 *In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,* neither he that loveth not his brother.

Happy Fathers Day Father Mike. You are a great father figure for me for the past 3 years. I’m praying for you ♥️ I’m crying because my dad used to bless me every day, I didn’t even know how important that was, and how blessed and privileged I was to have that. He led by faith and was the definition of a holy, strong, sensitive, protective, loving father. I’m also praying to St. Joseph for a future spouse that will be a great father. That was so beautiful. My children lost their father at a very young age, and I tried my best to raise them to love their Holy Father and do the next right thing. I did tell them to do better than I did, and that they couldn't just have certain behaviors because I may have done some terrible things before I became a better person. They couldn't say...."well, you did it , so I can do it". I said nope . You have your own page in God's book. I'm responsible for my actions and your responsible for yours. 24 years later and God not bringing them a father figure, I pray that I have raised 3 beautiful people. I believe God is still with us like he was through their fathers illness. Your homily is wonderful. Thank you. 🙋‍♀️🙏

I love you father Mike and I will continue to pray for you. I had a meek and disciplined dad. He published editorials that described about the weaker sex. He was indeed a humble man by saying he was the weak and meek one in his marriage.

Sadly, I do not have any girls as children but I like to think I would have done things the same way. I have tried to show my sons that they can be the good form of an alpha male, not the bully or toxic media depiction of a so called alpha male but what a good man they can be, to put their wife (if they choose to find someone who loves you for who you are) and family above everyone, including themselves. I listened very carefully and I could hear my own father in what you were saying, the same kind of man I tried to be to my own son’s. I hope I taught my son’s to be a shepherd, to learn what they need to do and remain a good person. To stay within the law but always question the powers that be and ensure that they can you have the courage to speak for those that have no voice of their own. To respect others from all walks of life, but expect the same respect back. Stick to your beliefs, but make sure in your heart they are your beliefs. I hope my lad’s listen to this and hear me in your homily. That, in preparing them for their life and hurdles ahead; I hope they will be set up to help their their own family and kids to cope in this twisted world we find our selves in. Faith is the foundation that I hold on to, it keeps me grounded and enables me to think for myself and those I love, just as my father held his faith, and his before him. I just wish they would listen to our God and listen to what he has to say in every predicament they might find themselves in, do not listen to those outside your immediate family unless they have proved their true moral worth to you. Those who are all too eager to tell you what they think, that you should think, do and say; they don’t want you to think about what they would actually do or think when the others aren’t looking. Most people who are quick to offer free advice would never take their own advice, they will always have their own agenda in mind first. Now that my boys are grown men, I hope they realise that I would never knowingly give bad advice, if I have loads of questions then I am trying to fully understand their issue. If I sound too abrupt or stern, it will be because I think you aught to know the blunt truth now that you’re grown up enough to hear it. If you get upset over what I say, then promise me you will think on it, because I do not want to upset you, you’re my Son’s and I am not perfect. I do get things wrong sometime but that will be because you have not explained something you me properly or left something out; or I got the ring end of the stick, it happens. Don’t get mad though, I am just trying to understand. The answers are not exactly written down for us. I alway have and always will love you with all my heart. No matter what. When I get stuck, I usually say to myself “what would my Dad do in this predicament?” He was usually a wise person or just honest and up- ight. If he did not know, he would say so. I’ll tell something though, he would do everything he could to find out for you though! I try to emulate that. As an example; look at the way I think about politics I Always look at what a leader actually does for their communities, country or party, whether they keep their promises, when they keep telling you what should be done but do not really do anything for the good for those they “serve”. You should look at all the local candidates the same way; I always find that the independent candidate is more inclined to be more involved than the other party members, especially those who have been allegedly doing the job for the last 10 years. National election are decided by those who run the media. Very few in politic can be considered being truly honest because they are all , one way or another, hankering for more power. I am truly proud of my Son’s and am convinced they will both find their way through life. Listening to heart but double check with your mind that you are not being led astray from your honour and God.

There was no big problem with her life, maybe some abuse from men (I always think about men's fault in such cases), but she had a good family, sisters, she had friends, no mistake was made during her treatment and she lived only for 6 years, so severe case. I had ana for 14 years and I'm alive (from 15 to 29), she was ill from 12 to 18 and then she died, her case is so unfair. I feel absolute darkness when I think about her.

Hi Father Mike- I was wondering what the Church has done to protect children from being harmed by priests? As you probably know hundreds of priests have been convicted of child abuse just in the Los Angeles area between 1990-2020. Can you address why the Pope has allowed these assaults to continue? I look forward to your response.

John 14:21-24 KJV 21 *He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.* 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, *If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.* 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and *the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.* 3 John 1:11 KJV 11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. *He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.* 1 John 3:6-10 KJV 6 *Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.* 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: *he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.* 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.

What about the kids, the adult kids whose father did not bless them & continues to not bless them..

I think in that case, I recommend having a devotion to St. Joseph. He can be their spiritual father and bless them from heaven. St. Joseph’s intercession is SOO powerful. I’ve seen it in my life, especially after having a devotion to him. I’m sorry that the children: adult children didn’t have their earthly dad to bless them, but I promise you that they will not miss out on any blessings from St. Joe.

And I had a big uneasiness when I tried to pray for her soul (Her name is Emma Caris), like I'm not strong enough to pray in this case or there is no hope in this case, but I don't want to approve that. Unpleasant feeling. Maybe someone stronger could pray. People think ana is about pureness, but there is nothing pure about that, it's all dark, human will shut down, turn to absolutely wrong and deadly direction, it's all dirty. Nothing is similar with some good fasting here. I'm happy my ana part of brain is switch off.

The problem with the world is that we don’t want The Church to teach us,guide us and help us to be better Fathers and Mothers. Toxic feminism also has done a lot of damage to us women into thinking that having a family and to give yourself for the other is wrong. Over Exposed and degrading image of women are everywhere including those that have families. So to be a good man and a woman requires a lot of taking responsibility for our own actions and the consequences that brings to those close to you. This society only encourages us to be self seeking in our lives .

I appreciate your clarity about the slacker and the brute. I find that both are selfish in getting whatever they want. One through force and the other through not taking any responsibility, even for themselves, this force everyone around them to have to take care of them. It seems as much a bully position as the brute except more insidious. I wish they could see that they're equally as harmful instead resting in a belief that they're doing no harm. I want everyone to hear how you make this generously understandable

Yes Father Mike , we do need Fathers, both Dads in our family, we need Spiritual Fathers, (happy Father's Day Fr. Mike)and most of all we need GOD our Father .Makes me sad that there seems to be almost a fear to speak of such an important need. Yes we also need our beautiful Mothers. GOD knew best and HE gave us the very best , Fathers and Mothers. No they aren't perfect but I believe they are perfectly suited to help us become the best we can be, to deal with what ever we may have to face in life . We have the perfect Father in Heaven , who is also here by the Holy Spirit through our Savior Jesus Chist . Come to me says Jesus, learn from me , HE has the true answers for the rest and peace we so desire. We need Fathers and Mothers equally, let's Pray not to be ashamed to tell the truth.

He is feeling the truth. He is just not being schizophrenic stating the "la la la" message with out the emphasis of the real world problems too. We hear "God is love" every day and it's getting worn out, sadly. How man and woman exemplify this love of God, and God as father, is by BEING a godly man and woman, but on this day, the emphasis for a role model in earthly fathers, during a month 'celebrating' gender confusion and glorifying the anti-thesis of God and what and who we need? This was important. For a godliness culture, you can't throw a baby a steak.

My brother and sister-in-law had briefly separated. One evening, he was picking up their son to bring him to the babysitter. The little one started sobbing, "Daddy, I don't wanna go to the babysitter". My brother, not long out of his teens, told him that he wouldn't need to go to the babysitter anymore. So, he quit his partying and stayed home with his son. I have always remembered that because I saw my brother turn into a man that night.
