This is a good discussion but, within the clip at least it fails to highlight one important thing. This isn't necessarily a "Bandai Namco" problem. If you look at Tekken 7's sister series (Soul Calibur VI) you can find detailed patch notes which highlights and explains all levels of a patch. The Tekken team should just follow their example as it's the better format.

Though I agree that there needs to be clearer communication, especially with patch notes, I’d like to point out that it may not necessarily make players feel better about changes to their character. Using SC6 as an example, I’ve read about many Sophitia players being unhappy that she is having her fundamental tools nerfed and being compensated by buffing moves that are considered gimmicky. Even with a rationale for changes, there’s always going to be a risk of alienating some players. Maybe I didn’t pick Sophitia because of the vision that exists for her now. Maybe the rationale won’t really change anyone’s mind, who really knows? I’m starting to think that either the devs can’t find a middle ground that pleases the player base (and maybe there’s not one) or that players are just prone to complain. I want to see devs make improvements too, I’m just afraid it’s still going to be a matter of damned if they do, damned if they don’t with certain things, especially game balance.
@Taziod4 жыл бұрын
Thing is if they start to divert a character from what you enjoyed about them, you can see plain and simple it's happening. It's not as if you just sit idly by, wondering why moves are being changed until two seasons go by and you realize your character is a shell of it's former self.
@egrassa14804 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it doesn't matter. You will not like the changes regardless of their reasoning. But explaining changes helps players to get devs ideas, and sorta see in what direction game is going
@XIVDock4 жыл бұрын
@@Taziod While this is probably more true for fairly casual players, I think most people who've invested considerable time in a character will notice when something central to a gameplan is changed. As useful as it is to understand what the devs' vision is, I think it can be a double edged sword in that some people may not read the technical details of patch notes and abandon characters based on dev rationale without giving the character a fair shake. A lot of people already do stuff like this based on tierlists honestly.

I absolutely agree with the point regarding detail explanations of why a character was nerfed/buffed. It just gives a clear idea of what the devs are going for a character,so that it doesn't leave the community totally baffled of why suddenly a big patch comes through for no reason that absolutely changes a character. Buffing fundamental moves like pokes and ss is actually a good way to go after thinking about it. It doesn't change the overall of a character too much, but gameplay wise for (maybe top ranks/pros) will change quite a bit due to how they prioritise fundamentals in their gameplan. Lets just hope S4 will be better for Tekken.

I know it would be very hard to do with the entire cast, but I do really hope they find a way to even the playing field for all characters. I'd really love to see more diversity in tournament. Theres like 50% of the cast that we rarely see in the top 8. Theres never nina, anna, feng, asuka, lei, leo, lars, josie, miguel, maven, katarina, yoshi, lili, ling or gigas among a few others that dont come to mind at the moment ever in top 8...and when they are in the top 8 it's usually a character loyalist that is very good that has a very good tournament, but doesnt typically make top 8 very often. That's such a huge chunk of the cast that we never see.
@Senumunu4 жыл бұрын
Ling and Asuka were quite common in s1. especially in pools. top 8 is a high threshold bcs you also see the same people in top 8 time and time again so its obv their main character will be up there. if all the top players dont like the aesthetic of a "good" character than you wont see that character.

One of the things I especially like about competitive Rainbow 6 Siege is that the devs will usually put dev notes along with their patch notes, explaining what they want to see, or intend to happen with the change they've implemented. It helps frame their decisions more clearly; but the cynic in me thinks it's a problem with Harada/Namco just wanting to change things merely for the sake of it. He seems like the kind of person who would push for a fully tracking hellsweep cuz _"Woah holy shit how insanely crazy would that be?!"_ and alot of the time, Harada seems to care more about the shock and hype that a patch will create; rather than whether it's actually going further towards balancing the game.

Idk if this has been talked about but I have a solid idea for tutorial. What if Tekken s4 or Tekken 8 added daily challenges. For example Successfully land 5 i13 punishes in a match. Not only will this give points but this will also teach players how to play the game. Points can go towards a scale like a battle royal and once a certain amount of points are earned a sick customization or ost is added. Make online fun again!

If this was handled as well as for characters like lee, wich i know is "low tirer" this wouldnt be a problem.i mean i think lee has 170 move and this is what make him fun to play because they all have a purpose, even if it's only poking or being a false but fun electric, on the other hand lei has like 240 moves i think and this is not even half the fun.
