It’s ironic when men complain about the culture of female rap. Biggie and Kim for example, he made Kim’s image as sexy and raunchy as it was. Wayne and Nicki, Nicki said she felt pressured to look like the women Wayne hung around, hence why she got plastic surgery. At the beginning of rap, women were already put into a box because of the way men viewed them. Sex sells. It’s alright when men rap about women’s bodies, sex, money, and having a beautiful woman as a sign of status. Will Smith, later on in his career, got a pass (to some extent) because he was a movie star and largely was considered more pop, but hip hop was shitting on him largely. Even Will later made an angrier album, which didn't do as well, to try and counter the super clean cut image, because of the backlash he was getting from hip hop. De La had to get a bit more aggressive later on, ATCQ felt they needed to bring Consequence on board to make them more street. Luckily they learned their lesson and made TLM. It's really like you have to be an exceptional emcee to have maintained success as a positive rapper by the mid and late 90's whereas the goons could be mediocre af.

My uncle always told me that "Gangs is all fun and games until you get shot at" So when I was little I lived in a not so great neighborhood with alot of gang related issues until my parents became divorced then my mom moved us into the mountains of NY out of that kind of environment. That was the purpose of rap music when it was taken over by the corporations. Dee 1 called rappers like RR and JJ for the trash they promote in their music being in their 40’s like they are still in their 20’s. One thing I feel compelled on my heart to point out, is that many of these rappers who promote drug usage in their music, do not face life-altering consequences like loss of work or loss of home due to their addiction. They are addicts, and yet still live a luxurious lifestyle. They have the money to go to rehab if they choose to get sober. However, ordinary folk who become addicts due to experimenting with these drugs...SO many lose their jobs. So many become homeless. So many can't afford rehab. So many, their lives spiral out of control. Even when they get sober, they can't find employment again (esp if they're a felon), they can't rent, their credit is messed up. These rappers promote the usage of these drugs to ordinary folk, but they will not feel many of the repercussions that normal addicts face as a result of their addiction. That feels so scummy and makes me honestly want to cry. Also, yes, I know there are some artists who did go broke due to their addictions; this is a generalization.

TW I used to listen to a rap song about a girl that actually died because of drugs, she thought it's cool because her parents sheltered and neglected her, and then she found a bad boy who took her to parties that involved alcohol and drugs. It was shown in a negative way, as it ended in her death and him feeling guilty. I really appreciate that nowadays, not saying that it's cool but rather "hey this crap kills the entire chorus is about that don't do that" it's really rare nowadays. The older I get (I'm 41), I'm now like how my elders were, "Turn that mess OFF!!!" Drill rap has influenced so many killings within our own communities, it's all disheartening. No other genre of music are the entertainers being killed. It's ALL bad. The devil is here to kill, steal, and destroy, and he is doing his job to the fullest extent. It’s crazy that these kids enforce snitch culture but don’t know what snitching means. In order to be a snitch you have to be involved in the actual criminal activity and then tell on your criminal associates in order to get a lesser charge or immunity. And yes snitching is wrong cause if we all did it you committed to the outcome before the incident, you made a choice. However if you’re an innocent bystander and see a crime taking place you should definitely report it…it wasn’t you’re idea and you aren’t a participant. Folks need to know the difference.

My experience growing up in the white poor areas: kids learned from the black kids and imitated them. It was not their parents culture, it was not the majority of culture around us, yet it still influenced them greatly. I have hundreds of videos and pictures of white kids saying the n word, and imitating black kids to the fullest extent. Kids who have college funds and two story houses are finding guns and hurting each other and hurting themselves for just an image. So many kids that are being given so many opportunities to be something and they just throw it away for the chance to be perceived as one of these rappers. Their influence is reaching so many places it was never meant to be. They will do anything to be black on the inside, for literally no reason. I grew up around so many kids with big family money lying and saying they are from California hoods and claiming to be ex gang bangers, at 10 years old. Let me repeat, white upper middle class 10 year old children are claiming to have the same background as Tupac. Their image is so strong and so influential and no one is even trying to stop it.
