You reset the system by pressing A-B-C-D and start together, no matter what you're doing. Much more convenient than a reset button!

Watching in 2019: Games like Samurai Shodown isn't known for being fast-paced nor combo heavy. It's mainly a footsy/heavy damage game. It's a thinking man's game where you need some strategy to help you win.

Just looked up the neo turf masters game for fun and seen it's selling for $20,000 right now on ebay...... I don't care how rare a game is that is a laughable amount of money to ask for any game let alone a golf game. I have played neo turf masters and i know it's fun and all but come on. Are people out there actually buying this crap?

***** Yeah, i can't get it, how it's possible to make such crappy emulation today when i played games at full speed without any glitches or hiccups on 333MHz K6-2 10 years ago, and TV out, especially composite, sucks balls, which is insult on Neo-Geo name - real systems have excellent video quality, with RGB and 21" Sony BVM monitor it looks awesome and even simple composite output with 21" 2003 Samsung CRT TV it looks great (i'm a bit lazy to make DIN to SCART cable for that TV). If you want a pocket Neo-Geo, just use PSP or one of those android consoles with open source emulators, and Neo-Geo X place is the trash can.

Thanks for the video

I stick to buying just the Games for my collection. I have a AES, which does'nt work an it is just for showing purposes. Neo Geo and Neo Geo CD can be emulated perfectly today. So if more people would think this way (collection the physical media mostly for the artwork) the prices would drop immedatly. As long as people are willing to pay those prices, as long they will stay this way.

I wonder if the ratio between the time I spend waiting for my NG:CD to load is comparable to the difference in money I would make working for that same amount of time, and spending the money on an MVS version of the same game instead. Perhaps, but I'm too impatient to do the calculations ;P

I didn't know the Neo Geo CD was developed as a cost-effective alternative to the original Neo Geo system. I always just figured it was a response to the ill-conceived CD system boom of the early 90s, but I guess a cost-reduced version makes more sense for the Neo Geo.

Space shooters are cool, and Twinkle Star Sprites looks cute, and I'd try playing that. But I'm just not a fighting game fan. Neo Geo Graphics were like combining SNES with Sega Genesis, and then injecting it with mild steroids. Some of those games were surprisingly polished. I bet 32X could match that quality, though. What's your take on that, cool cat?
@Tiidonator

I never had the privelage of playing a home NEO GEO console... Well except for the NEO GEO Pocket color. Yeah, 32X was Sega's biggest, but coolest mistake. The timestream would be very different if it weren't for that ugly black mushroom of an addon! :) Yet I have fond memories of Knuckles Chaotix, and a near perfect Space Harrier and After Burner arcade port.

Your show is better than a lot of the game review videos out there. Some ideas for episodes and opinions. Bad voice acting in games. Show less Shooters. Coop 16 bit games. Left in Europe. But it's all arcadestyle games. I wish they would have used the hardware for some other genres in those days. A RPG or Action Adventure for the AES oder CD would have been awesome. On the big cartridges you had about 80 MB (640 Mbit) of space. If they went with smaller sprites there would have been plenty of space putting Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6 to shame in 1994/1995, which had t o deal wtih 4 MB of Space on the SNES-cartridge.

I love SNK, it's just too bad they haven't done anything really big as of late with the only thing to my recollection being KOF 14, which is growing on me despite that lousy initial teaser. It's also been around 6 years since we had a new Metal Slug game, the least SNK can do is port over the remaining 4 main line games over to the PC, hell I will even take the disappointing 3D game. Yeah I grew up with SNK more than Capcom and Sega and I consider them being an important part in gaming history.

I have a CDZ with a region switch. Most games have tolerable load times but if you have played the game on an AES/MVS you may not have much patience for this system. I solely bought this system so I could play Crossed Swords II. Nothing beats a medieval multiplayer punchout game. I also like the prices of the CD games with tolerable load speeds compared to the AES/MVS counterparts mostly.

Great episode and great console. I also suggest Shinsetsu Samurai Supirittsu: Bushidō Retsuden, or also know has Samurai Shodown RPG. Really good RPG overall, but with a lot of loading time.

I love the Neo Geo CD hands down my favorite CD console of that time, Love the library of games. When it comes to Last Blades I would recomand the japanese PS2 version, or get digital on swithch,steam or PS4.

This was a great review but there is a couple things I'd like to mention: 1. you can reset the system from the controller by holding down all 4 buttons and the start button 2. I'd recommend you get the tototek controller converter to play this system with ps2 controllers. they're way better than the neo geo controllers and much more affordable

actually most MVS versions are cheaper than the Neo CD versions, Metal Slug is $40-$60 on MVS and $100+ on the Neo CD. Heh I got Last Blade for the MVS for $18 including shipping haha and Neo Turf Masters for $28. Basically the Neo Geo MVS is the Sams club of Neo Geo collecting, it's rather expensive to get into it as you have to buy either a consolized MVS or arcade cab but then the games are extremely affordable.
