This documentary is right on time, I've been revisiting the Neptunes music lately and I've come to the conclusion they were the real Avant-garde hip-hop collective of the 21st century. Over outkast , over kanye, over timbaland! The pop music landscape of 2021 bears the influence of Pharrell and Chad! Tyler the creator, the weekend, even Billie eilish wouldn't exist without The Neptunes/NERD, their music now sounds timeless and sounds almost like a hip-hop version of Brian Wilson/the beach boys sonic genius! Long live Star Trak true musical prophets🖖thanks for making this excellent documentary.

If you're not a producer who grew up in the 90s and early 2000's you wont put respect on chads name. The thing i like about The neptunes is their versatility across ALL genres of music INCLUDING remixes. They were REAL remixers. they made a song so un-recognisable you had to hear the vocals to know who sang the original and made it sound better. Example, One of their best remixes SADE - by your side and Backstreet - The Call. Prince - The Greatest Romance ever sold. Even their more obscure Remixes ALL Saints - Black Coffee. and theyre still making beats for artist and still sound good. Even with their sound scaled down. That new joint they produced with SZA "Hit different" or Kendrick Lamars "Im Real" its still the neptunes sound.

I was definitely out in the clubs in nyc in the 90’s (especially late 90’s) when the Neptunes sound was unfolding. The sound was so fresh, different and innovative that we didn’t even know how to dance to them but we knew it was 🔥 I feel so lucky to have lived that 🤗

Facts. I’m from the south and remember visiting Connecticut in ‘99. I think they were playing a DJ Clue mixtape at the skating rink and it was the first time I heard Half-A-Mil’s Thug Ones. Seems like it came out right after Nore’s huge hit Oh No. I was blown away by the sounds back then and couldn’t find Thug Ones anywhere. Soon as I saw his album in stores it was instant cop just off the strength of being in the skating rink in CT that night. I copped just about every album I could that had a Neptunes produced song on it.

The day the Clones album came out I bought the CD and brought it to my homies house party and it was dope. Honestly the beats were so wild for the time that I don’t think a lot of people were fukn with it. Like their palate wasn’t ready for something crazy like that.
