I haveing troubles understanding or following of ADHD. I truly want to learn, how am different. How my brain are different. I had many test in 2018 by a Psychologist/neurologist. I didn't know what was wrong with me, my Anxiety attacks were Daily. I never Mention to him ADHD nor did he. For 2 months I had test after test even a brain scan. At this point I was so hopeless I was just letting him do it I have no clue why. After the testing he let me know that I that I am officially diagnosed with diagnosed with severe ADHD. He explained what it was. Mostly everything I struggled with. It has gotten to the point, I was scared to go back to work. I felt I always had to work harder then every one else. There where other things, that I had no idea, was ADHD. He said with Ongoing therapy and medication, you can Manage it, & start having a life you wanted. It took another month to see what was right for medication. I continued my Therapy and took took my medication seriously, taking as told. He explained the medication is a tool to help along with Therapy the medication is not a cure all. He had told me about the discrimination against against ADHD and that I might, experience it to only tell people that I trust. I was in my early forties and I and I felt like I just begun life there is hope I felt my best at this time it was working and I and I couldn't wait to keep continuing my Therapy allows my medication. I felt normal one for the 1st time in my life. People actually thought I was on medication for anxiety for anxiety because I wasn't always nervous nervous or taken anxiety tax I was more calm. Then do to help Problems my psychologist decided to retire. He had told me it is very important that you continue your therapy and your medication. I had gotten very lucky when he take me on as patient. I had other doctors from the hospital telling me how great he is. At the time I had insurance the covers the colleges it took me 3 months to find him the smooth of the psychologist on the list that was supposed to accept it said yesaid yes we can but we choose not to. I had to go without psychologist for 4 months finally I've done another one. I like him and we started our journey. Unfortunately my husband had the insurance and he got laid off from his job and lost that insurance. I worked but I did not have insurance under my work. I cried I had to stop saying my psychologist. I could not afford it. He was over to launch for 200 per appointment and you went to see me twice a month. I tried desperately to find anything that was affordable mental health care & there is none. Extremely disappointing what do we do if we are seeing a psychologist been taking medication in one day we do not have the money for it do we go back being unhealthy?? Like I said to change my life I was able to work again. Now that it has been several months it's getting harder and harder hang on. My anxiety came back I can barely leave my home. I can't keep my attention when anything no matter how hard I want to learn. My husband and I are a hard times. He needs me to be well. The way people treat me is awful. They jump to The conclusion is I just want the medication. Because I'm trying to find a therapist and maybe my family doctor can prescribe the medication if she only looked at my doctor records I gave her permission for it but she has not looked.. To show that I went through the proper test and through . It wasn't someone just saying oh well I think you have it let me get your prescription I was officially diagnosed ADHD. I take this so seriously it's saved my life I wish doctors would take it seriously to. So far I've been talking to doctors who insinuate that there's no such thing as EDH day or I'm just gonna jump in trying to get drugs. Now and I am a deep depression But what do you do if for example someone had bipolar important for psychology with would they deny them of their medication? I finally got an appointment with my family doctor, & a List of therapist so I continue my therapy. I had to say to her please I'm giving you access to all my medical records please look into it and you will see that this is a serious problem and I have been officially diagnosed since 2018. She said she'll give me an appointment within a month she will look into it and we will discuss it then. I'm so scared I have no idea what the outcome is. Trying to get treatment for ADHD and not having the money for a psychologist is near impossible. This has to changed. Here I am a person who wants to help myself. Follow every doctor's instructions and look where I got me?? It gave me a little taste of hope poop on how life could be good and then they said since you do not have the money you will have to suffer even though there there is things you can do that can be helped. I feel why doesn't this psychology world Start using insurance?? I was told the insurance was husband had to pay top dollar, Insurance cover psychology. Even then psychologists didn't want to take on my insurance. It was a good insurance and they were definitely going to get paid but I guess didn't want to wait. Knowing there's so many people out there that need help. I would never tell anyone that I have ADHD except my husband and my mother and fear I would get laughed at. Because sometimes has done so. I can learn all I want but if I don't get any men eat mental health treatment what is it all for? Has anyone else come across this problem is there a program out there I am not aware of? Please let me If there is I just want to be well again I just want to have hope.

I absolutely love this real time presentation. I was diagnosed with ADD as a 5yr female and always trying to learn more about how my brain functions. Having a prestigious Doctor even stumble during a presentation just shows how we are all human and no matter where each of us is in life that as long as we try to do our best that is enough. Each new moment is a Moment to Start Over. I will keep this in mind when I am public speaking that my anxiety is normal my fear is also a human emotion to feel and that as long as I keep moving forward that I will make it through the difficult times and get on the other side of my struggles. We are all Human and as Humans we can come together to help learn, care, love and support one another. Thank you for showing this. 😊

Very well explained. How is it diagnosed? PET-scans? Oh well, and will my health care insurance pay the diagnosis?
@lissaajz6 жыл бұрын
Isabella Bihy unfortunately no. There are no lab exams that can say if you have ADHD. Take a look at some online tests at CHAAD or ADDitude and if you still feel like it’s for you look a doctor at your area, the real diagnosis are clinical and made by a psychiatrist, neuropsychologist or trained psychologist ;)

A bit monotone--if you'd added some random blaring sounds maybe I could have stayed awake for this--no offense! ADHD'ers are in dire need of a "Bill Nye" the ADHD Science Guy' type of person to disseminate this information to us, lol. Perhaps if I use this video as a sleep aid, the information will enter my subconscious....

Jens Kühnemann Sure! I probably have something for you saved right here. Just tell me something more specific about your case or what you’re interested... (like, in my case, I’m 31 and only been diagnosed with adhd now. I had it since childhood but no one even talked about adhd were I live, and I’m the inattentive tipe. Latter on, with adolescence came depression, again, for years people thought it was just a fase. It became very serious. So the comorbidity of major depression overcame adhd for more than 10 years and right now I’m pretty much impaired) Ok just just my case, for illustration, 😂😂, and that’s the reason why I’ve been searching A LOT on KZbin and internet in general. So shoot me and I’ll see what I got! ;)

I am 41 and have been diagnosed a year ago. I read a lot of books since then but most infomaterial is quite basic. As I am a medical profesisonal with general knowledge of biochemistry, physiology and (neuro)anatomy I am interested to know a bit more detailed and also would like to see / read where the medical research stands at the moment. I had a really hard time at school but somehow managed to get throught school and university but find myself having more and more issues in my everyday life (changed workplace 16 times within the last 14 years, getting into arguments with patients, wasn't able to keep a releationship for long etc.) meds are working well but there is still a big impact on my life.

@MegaGrawp Жыл бұрын
I mean it is a risk. This is why you should have a psychiatrist that you trust and unfortunately as someone with ADHD it would be worth your time to understand dosing and drug interactions as I've found no shortage of people on the internet who are on potentially dangerous combinations of drugs. But if your shrink has a clue and you don't fuck around your chances of speed psychosis are very slim.
