When the GDMBR was complete I bought all the maps and had plans on doing the ride. Life took over and flash forward to this summer. You inspired me to take on this challenge. It will be in five sections but it will be done on my 60th birthday just a few years from now. This July I outfitted my bike with bike packing gear and trained for the ride. The first section I completed was from Moran Wyoming to Steamboat Springs Colorado. The experience was rewarding, challenging and incredibly beautiful. Great video as always Ryan! That first day for Kevin must have been seriously tough. Never easy to take on a climb that big on a first day of a tour. Kudos to him for keeping up with you guys. And a special kudos to John for hauling some extra stuff for the team. That man has some legs! Any forward motion up a hill is always good, does not matter if its pedalling or walking. I haven't met a cycle tourer who hasn't had to push his bike up a hill or two. Although I suspect that John can challenge that assumption. My mantra up the difficult climbs is from the song Spinning Wheels by Blood, Sweat and Tears, What goes up, must come down". Kind of apt for the occasion of climbing something steep. It also helps to keep me in my rythm of pedalling.
