This was always my favorite movie and still is today. We had such awesome movies back in the 80s. Pippi longstocking, never ending story, Legend, just to name a few. ❤

My mom would drop me off at the local library, and I would watch Pippi Longstocking with other children, while she went shopping. Great memories! I have to watch the movie again. I love how much the scenery is still the same. Thank you for your thoroughness to detail matching up shots.

I absolutely love that you guys did a video dedicated to this film - I've watched many of your horror-related uploads, but to find the movie I was so incredibly and annoyingly obsessed with when I was a child was such a great surprise! Well done!

Pippi longstocking movie is good. Her horse can talk a little bit. The song is hard to get out of your hair. Nice knowing Michael and Jessica are fans too. I grew up watching this movie. Still enjoy it. Even as adult. It is a good movie.

I always thought these film adventures were the sole property of Sweden. Interesting to know that a story of Swedish origin was shot here in the states. As usual fantastic work and very captivating.
@giggles71793 жыл бұрын
Pippi's creator Astrid Lindgren would have definitely preferred her creation remain the sole property of Sweden. Much like P.L. Travers (the creator of "Mary Poppins" who was an absolute nightmare for Walt Disney; see 'Saving Mr. Banks"), she refused to sign off on any foreign film adaptations for years and when she finally did, she hated "The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking." It's pretty sad - I believe only children can truly critique children's films and though it wasn't by any stretch of the imagination a commercial success, this movie is forever beloved by so many. I understand how authors can be protective of their creations, but it's just sad that Ms. Lindgren couldn't see this movie through the eyes of a child.
@nahomgirma50953 жыл бұрын
Actually, to correct it, not only did Lindgren hate it, but even critics and audiences despised this. It currently holds 17% on Rotten Tomatoes, has a 5.9 on IMDB and it is also the ONLY film based on an Astrid Lindgren story to be nominated for a Razzie Award. Two to be exact. Worst New Actor for Tami Erin's performance as Pippi and Worst Supporting Actress for Eileen Brennan's performance as Miss Bannister. The latter is pretty sad given she got an Oscar nomination 8 years prior.

I watched Pippi so often as a kid my mom eventually banned me from watching it. Not only was she annoyed with the theme song, but I was also replicating the scenes 😆. One day the cops had to go looking for me because I was in a fictitious barrel down the stream! I was around 6 at the time. Running away and having a great adventure became a daydream for years.

OMG thank you SO MUCH for doing this location!!! I've been watching you guys for awhile now - This was my most FAVORITE movie in the world when I was 5 or 6 years old in the mid to late 80s - I was even Pippi for Halloween, my mom sprayed my hair bright red, and put the wiring in my braids to make them stand up, and she sewed my costume from scratch :-) You know, I was just thinking - even in my 36 year old brain, I never even thought of the fact that this magickal little town was REAL or even considered where they filmed this ( I mean obviously it's real, it had to have been filmed SOMEWHERE!) - but as a 5/6 year old at that time - it just seemed like a magickal thought up place, and it just stayed that way in my mind, all the way up until I just came across this on your channel. I loved seeing this so much, and it just brought back all of my wonderful childhood memories of this movie and the magick it made me feel. This little island seems like such a charming and enchanting place to visit, and I hope to visit one day :-)

Around ten years later, a animated movie/TV-series of Pippi was released, which was a Canadian-German-Swedish co-production. The owners behind Pippi and the rest of the Astrid Lindgren's characters rejected Studio Ghibli offer to animate it. Instead they went for a Canadian animation studio. Studio Ghibli did much later got a second chance and got to do the animation for Ronja Robbersdaughter. This year Pippi Longstocking celebrates it's 75th anniversary. One of the things they did to celebrate it, was the release of the Pippi Longstocking popsicle. A new international production of Pippi are currently in the plans, as a theatrical movie.

I was in this movie it was still in the summer of 87 I was in seventh grade and I was an orphan in the ice cream fight( which were actually colored mashed potatoes and we had to wear the same uniforms every day and they began to reek she . I was also in the scenes of the class rooms and fire scenes. All these locations are all within a couple of mile radius of each other .I'm a local in the town and it is very historic but the girl that played pippi was a b**** from hell. This was her first and final film and she ended up being a pornstar you can look her up her name is Tami Erin I guess karma got her a bad hand also fun fact the winter scene where she gets a puppy the snow was poisonous that they used and urged us not to touch it
