I really like that system will look into them. I think it is something my brain can figure out not being tech savvy. Thanks for sharing this great find. GOD BLESS 🚂 💕 🚂 💕 🚂 💕

I got this about a month ago, and I LOVE IT!!! I got all my buildings lit, and with the micro LED's, I got the headlights of one of my transit busses illuminated.

Great! I’m just starting my first train layout (N gauge). This lighting looks very interesting. I am hoping I can apply it to my system.

Nice find. I do all of my own lighting effects, control with Nanos, but they have a nice selection of SM LEDs, resisters, thin wire, heatshrink, etc. I will be placing an order closer to fall. I would rather give my business to a small business than the big one that starts with an A.

Dear Jimmy, awesome lighting system, great assortment this firm offers! Love the compact design, the plug system and of course their range of different leds in different colors. Very cool share, very much appreciated!! Cheerio

Jimmy, I know it means wiring it all up myself but for that price I can get 50 street lights and numerous other micro LED lights suitable for building interiors or signals and so on, from a very reliable Chinese source starting with Ali and ending in Express. I can also include a variable power supply to go with it all. It looks like you would also have to extend the lengths of your cables if you have a reasonable sized layout.

Nice find. Will definitely check them out. Some competition for Woodland Scenics will hopefully mean lower prices. One big difference though. That hub with the dimmer, dims all 10 lights equally. With Woodland Scenics hubs each port has it's own dimmer. I have found that to be indispensable as I need some full and some dimmed and can control as needed. One thing I have found is if you go on Amazon, eBay or whatever, you can absolutely build your lights and expansion wires far cheaper then buying from Woodland. Just need to purchase the hubs and expansion modules.

The JustPlug system uses 2.5 mm XH JST connectors. (This is *not* from Woodland Scenic's documentation, but the plugs fit perfectly.) Based on your video, it looks as though Dioramo is using the same connector. The JustPlug LEDs operate with 3 - 12 VDC and cost (retail) $11 for 2 prewired LEDs. I see the Dioramo LEDs range from $8 to $11 for 2 prewired LEDs. I'm not sure I'd call this a game changer, but it's nice to see an alternative to Woodland Scenics. BTW, if you are willing and able to do your own wiring, you will pay less than $10 for 100 or more LEDs. If you want to stick with prewired LEDs, they'll cost less than $10 for about 20 LEDs. You will *definitely* pay for the convenience of a ready-to-plug system.

The only thing to consider are voltage and current when comparing these with others for compatability. Might be an idea to see if you can use a DCC accessory decoder to turn them on/off
@Dioramo_Scale_Modeling5 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew! Dioramo Lighting System lets you connect up to 150 Lights through connected devices. Need more lights, simply add more devices. A DCC switch accessory is in development too!

I’d like to see a comparison of these vs JustPlug and nce’s illuminator. If they are all plug compatible, I’m sold. I’m looking at purchasing woodland scenic Storefront combo which contains JustPlug lights. If these are plug compatible, it would definitely save me time and money.

This response to my query You’re in luck! We have options for you. The connectors are the same but the Dioramo Lighting System runs at 12 Volts DC. We anticipated this need and developed easy adapter plugs to help out guys like you.

As you build your T-Trak, I would be interested in seeing a video on how you will be doing the layout bus wiring, accessories, etc. I have noticed that there really isn't a good quality video on how to do that, at least with Power pole connectors.

JImmy, I bought the Pro set #20080 it was on sale for 79.00. It was hard to find on their web site but I found the starter set # 20010 the better one came up as well. I do have a question about this I run a 12 volt buss can I just make my own pig tail ? Places on the layout I don't have access to an out let. I t has been already shipped!!

Hello Jimmy, got a challenge for you, would you consider putting together a playlist and publishing it, taking a N scale DC locomotive, diesel or steam ( steam would be cool) and fully converting it to DCC, i"m taking wiring, programming , sound , lights the works using your favorite top tear products. I could very much see how this playlist could be informative, inspirational and a kind of all you need to know in one stop place.

Thanks for the great video. I am just thinking about leaving this morning and your video came up on my Google feed! Drinking 8 O’Clock Medium Roast. A question about lighting: do you know if this lighting, or any available lighting system, for that matter, produces steady light, or is there flicker from multiplexing when you try to get video - especially slow motion? I am a newbie, and haven’t tried getting video of any layouts, but before I get serious about putting anything on my own I want to be sure it’s not going to preclude decent video. Many thanks!
@DIYDigitalRailroad5 ай бұрын
Good question. These are DC powered so there is no flicker or pulsing.

Part of me doesn’t want to bother with lighting with my new layout, especially since I’m not even into the new house yet. Maybe once I get further, I’ll decide otherwise. My layout will likely be all industrial without windows, so I’m thinking any lighting would be just street lamps and on the outsides if warehouse style buildings. There might be a single house, so there’s a little bit of internal light. While people actually work 3rd shift or late 2nd, I don’t think the railroad would service this little spur after dark. On the prototype though, there are no crossing gates or flashing lights at crossings, so maybe they’ll have an option for lit police cars. Here in town the police pull up to every crossing with lights flashing to stop traffic when a train crosses, and that’s what I want to model.

Have you looked into airbrite type wireless systems? I’m new to the hobby world so I’m not sure if the wiring is part of the allure, but for me I can’t believe in 2025 that everything isn’t done with conduction mats or Wi-Fi controlled wireless lights of some sort. I just want to make buildings and layouts and then light them up, not go to school to learn how to spend 500 hours wiring things up and hiding the wires. I just wanna grab a light a put it somewhere, then hit a button and have light. Why is this not everywhere? Wireless phone charging has been around for a millennium already (sarcasm obviously, but you get it). Anyway any thoughts or knowledge or experience with wireless lighting?

Jimi would not be more interresting to create such simple electronics at home, instead to present the factory made unit. There are so many optimal extension boards for Arduino. A simple DIY description would force the viewers to do something actively in their workshop.
