I liked it. It's not emotionally heavy, but I think its a pretty grounded way to complete Kaede's story arc. I get that its slow and a tad uneventful, but I prefer they animate this than skipping it to go straight for the more emotional story arcs. There's something to appreciate in the way the story nudges both the characters and we, the viewer, to move on from panda kaede's passing(?) and yeah, while short, I still found it a pleasant watch.

[Edit] For some reason some people think I'm saying Kaede's story isn't important. No that isn't what I mean. I know how important Kaede's story is, I just wasn't sure how the story was going to be handled in this movie when taking it from the LN. This short was made *before* the movie came out so I just assumed that Kaede's story would be sidelined in this movie while the main focus of this movie would be a setup for the next movie's story (so the next movie being a part 2 to the main story of this movie for example).

Sister Venturing Out is very much a setup for the following movie, Knapsack Kid. If they tried to make the three movies into a second season, I imagine it would have taken much longer to get any sort of new Bunny Girl Senpai content after Season 1 ended. That and/or the studio (or shareholders idk) might not have had the confidence to invest the assets to do a second season altogether and wanted to feel out how the anime would continue to do after each movie before deciding to green light the next. It’s also entirely possible that they may stop the anime altogether after Knapsack Kid since that one nicely wraps up the characters’ high school arc. I think it depends on how well these next two movies perform.

Man, I can’t wait for the release. It might be boring; however that series is really good, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting the new instalments in the series, so I’ll probably enjoy this movie. Seeing as this movie seems to be more dialogue based; it’ll be a delight to watch, given I quite like the interactions the characters have via normal dialogue.

I just watched this movie, and I loved it. Yea it’s not as “action” packed as the one before or the first season. But after both season 1 and the first movie, our boy deserved a little break. It was a bit of a happy/ normal moment they deserved even though he did need to work through the problems with his sister. The ending was wild, can’t wait for the third one and new season.

Let me tell you a beautiful detail. As you may know, in the series, at the end of each episode, the character relevant to that episode sings the song 'Fukashi No Carte.' Before Kaede, the character regains consciousness, her voice tone was different when she sang the song at the end of the episode, reflecting her state at that time. However, as the series progresses, Kaede regains her old memories and consciousness, and her voice tone changes accordingly. The plot of the latest movie revolves around Kaede, but it takes place after Kaede has regained her consciousness. Therefore, in the ending song of the movie, Kaede's intonations and voice are different from her pre-consciousness state, as in this movie, Kaede learns to be herself and gains self-confidence. It's an amazing detail :)

It’s hard to follow up with a crazy story after A Dreaming Girl. I think toning it down for this story was definitely a good choice, but as far as making it a movie, it gets kind of lengthy. I heard Knapsack Kid is supposed to be amazing though so we’ll see how that goes

I understand completely, the biggest problem on this movie is not the character itself, in fact this movie makes me love the "new" kaede even more, but the story itself felt too smooth without a really major probelm, and it feels like a big advertisement to me if you know what I'm talking about, idk the "product" they advertise is real or not, but it is still feels like it.

Honestly I don’t blame you for feeling this way. I sorta felt the same. But I will say I did enjoy it nonetheless. Kaede felt like a super relatable character to me as someone who suffers from severe social anxiety, so her character means a lot to me personally. I felt that her social anxiety was presented in such a realistic and genuine way, instead of using it for comedy like other animes do. I just love how this anime is so realistic with the emotions presented, as well as the characters. Sakutas character was also very interesting to watch. It was interesting to see how he actually got seriously angry when Kaede confronted to him about how she believes he preferred her previous self instead of her current self, because he’s generally shown to have a more calm and indifferent demeanor. This movie might’ve been more filler than anything for the story, but I think it’s still a good watch if you enjoy the show.

The problem with the movie is that what makes Bunny Girl Senpai interesting is the relationship and interactions between Mai and Sakuta. The other characters are interesting in a supporting role, but it's Mai and Sakuta that really make the series special. Taking a focus off the main couple waters down the most interesting aspect of the show.

The first volume focuses on Mai and Sakuta’s romance, but the literal rest of the series focuses on different characters and uses Mai and Sakuta’s relationship as a common subplot that ties the series together. Honestly, if you don’t enjoy the focus on other characters, you probably don’t enjoy 75% of the show beyond the first couple of episodes. The series is not a romcom. The whole point of the series is about the characters insecurities and problems that stem from their insecurity. People have to deal with insecurities and inferiority complex when theyre going through adolescence or puberty. The Rascal does not dream series’s plot is about how if the issues people face during their adolescence isnt dealt with the insecurity itself physically manifests and affects the world around them which is called the “Adolescence syndrome” and our main character Sakuta is solving said problems and trying to make the “Adolescence syndrome” known by the whole world as an supernatural phenomenon thats not fiction. The relationship between Sakuta and Mai is just the byproduct of Sakuta dealing with the main problem “Adolescence syndrome”. Though it would save us readers from whole lot of traume and sadness if the series was just your average Romcom

I’m telling you rn these will not reach the same hype as dreaming girl even as a reader of the light novels I can say nothing beats dreaming girl. The next movie is good though if you wanna know more about Sakuta and his family life. Also the reason these are movies is because after these movies the series goes on a “different path” starting Sakuta’s college years so it wouldn’t make sense to make a whole season V8 and 9 (which are the two new movies) would be the only adaptation because V10 is the start of Sakuta in college, if anything a S2 would be that the start of V10 especially because V9 is basically the end of Sakuta’s current chapter (without getting into spoilers)

I swear to god if Sister Venturing Out won't be available in US after Knapsack Kid releases on 1/12, I'm gonna be pretty upset. The fact that it got released only in Japan and India till now is upsetting. If the same stuff happens with Knapsack Kid, I'm probably gonna lose it. Been a huge fan for quite a while now and them region locking the movie is genuinely sad and a weird move towards western fans. And alot of people are probably gonna tell me to go read the Light Novels, but I'll pass on that. Don't have the best imagination and reading it doesn't feel the same for me as seeing it with proper voice acting (original) and storytelling as they did till now.

I think it would be much better if we have some sort of Flashback to the Last Episode of the Anime, where Sakuta was Screaming in Agony, just to give us some Context. Without that Scene, this Movie just feel Lacking. Anyway, for those who are waiting, I recommend Re-watching the Last Episode of Anime before this Movie.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the movie (I watched it late in the run, though, I think I was the only one in the theatre who hadn’t already seen it). It’s very dialogue-heavy, and not much “excitement” happens, so I can definitely understand and sympathise with people who don’t like it that much, but for me it was one of the most “real” arcs. In the past I have worked with people in situations similar to Kaede and [name redacted to avoid spoilers], and some of the scenes brought up some very specific memories for me (so maybe I’m a little biased). I found the ending very emotional and very satisfying, and if it had continued into the next arc immediately (like some people wanted), then I think the emotional whiplash would have ruined the mods for me a little. I do hope that they look into re-editing these movies into a TV series (a la Demon Slayer), but that might be too much to ask (because that might require adding new scenes to Dreaming Girl, and dubbing in new lines after 4 years have past is probably a sound designer’s/editor’s nightmare)

Right now it's only available in Japanese cinemas. I believe it will be released to the general public next spring.

@adamayup474 it's not that, it's released in some countries and have strict piracy laws making it very difficult to watch it anywhere other than those selected countries. Not an issue with the subtitles

Its.not bad actually. Its just very dialogue heavy, but still the banters between the caharcaters are heavy. For me I liked it.
