I have to say, the 8800 is the workhorse and entry level of movement that is in the Seamaster watches as well. The Coaxial escapement is the greatest improvement in the Swiss lever in 200 years. I don't care about power reserve beyond 50 hrs, or if I can independently move the hour hand. Although it would be convenient. I've got the Railmaster and love it! Thanks for your time making this video.

The Omega Seamaster Diver 300m black black ceramic has the 8806 movement, not the 8800. I just purchased mine from the Omega Boutique in Chicago, on Michigan Avenue, and I love it.

100% I would get an Aqua Terra Terracotta if it was in 41mm. All my watches are 41/42mm for my 7.5" wrist, and tried that 38mm out and just seems a slight bit small. And brushed > polished for the low key flex.

I really like the size, dial colour options and the date window on these models. If Omega could fit the 8900 movement, add a stripe of lume to the minute hand and micro adjustment to the butterfly clasp [other brands can] it would be a compelling option. Too close in price to it's Rolex counterparts with better residual values also. Fix these problems and price the watch more competitively and I think Omega would sell a lot more of them [including one to me]

I have to agree Bruce, a very well produced and designed watch. These have taken a while to appear at the AD's, certainly in the UK where I've yet to see one. I would have preferred the twin barrel jump hour 8900 movement but the 8800 is still a great movement that I have in my SMP300M that has the quick set date. I think I prefer the smaller size but would have to see one in the AD. Many thanks for sharing.

The cool thing about the 8800 movement is a quick set date whereas on the 8900 you need to move the independent hour hand to set the date.

The new 38 Aqua Terras are gorgeous! I too love the Red one. Stunning. But the price just don't sit right with me. It costs more than the SMP300 (by almost $1k) and almost matches the price of a Speedmaster Moonwatch Hesalite. How is that possible? Given the minimalistic and simple characteristic of the Aqua Terra 38.

Mid tier luxury is always on a very shaky nail , they are not produced in small limited numbers they are mass produced and are not exclusive . Omega are not patek or rm who often produce for people where money is no object in general they produce watches for the middle classes so price is very much a factor ,

When it comes to the Aqua Terra, Omega got it right the first time they tried in the early 2000 with the 2503.50 and 2504.50 and every generation since is just a lesser version of the first one. Luck to have the original

Omega would say “yeah, but your 40k day-date doesn’t have quick adjust system on the bracelet either and I don’t see you complaining!”… but I agree, Rolex clasp is easier to operate than butterfly. I think the links are small enough to fit most wrists… just no micro adjust. Great VDO! ❤️

I love everything about my watch but just wish it wore more like a 40mm. I am thinking about the 38mm aqua terra shades but wonder if it might wear too small. Thanks!

I have had the 41mm version for two years now, with the 8900 movement. The crown is super hard to turn and between winding it and no quick set date, which means having to turn the hour hand to set the date a couple weeks ahead, my thumb/finger go thru a lot to say the least 😡. I love the watch except for this issue. I’ve seen other comments about this on KZbin. I assume they are all like this?

These are really cool, at least in videos/photos. I have not seen one in person. It is strange that Omega announced these spring '22 and did not put them into dealer hands until this spring. The AD I work most closely with had the red one in briefly, but it was not in stock when I stopped by. My rep actually was not a fan of it though. My father picked up the wave dial AT in 38.5 size in January '22, even though he could pull off the 41mm easily. He just wanted something a little more balanced between dressy and sporty. It is a bummer that the smaller movement does not have the jumping hour adjustment of the larger model. That would be huge when traveling. As for me, I do wish they had a micro adjust clasps. Omega now has quick adjust on the Speedy and some other models. Think about how great it would be if that was offered on the AT. Honestly, the lack of that kept me from buying the Railmaster, which I otherwise loved.

I think maybe the dials are harder to make than on the old ATs. I did sense frustration from my AD that Omega takes so long to deliver watches after announcing. I think Tudor's doing it right. I've tried on all the new Watches & Wonders Tudors already.

Omega is playing a dangerous game with these price increases. More will look to the gray and used markets for deals bc the increases aren’t going to help the depreciation these incur. The finishing on this watch is insanely good. However I still think that this watch needs to be refined. The case back needs redesigning in order to disappear when you wear it just like on Rolex Oyster cases. I think a size between the 38 and 34 mm would be interesting as well. The gap is too big. Tried both and none of them fit well. The clasp is not functional enough. All that pushed me towards the OP with which I felt like I didn't have to compromise on anything unlike with the Aquaterra sadly

I saw and tried on the new Aqua Terra. I liked the watch and the size, but the colors did not wow me enough to buy. The red dial had potential, but I already have one red dial watch in my collection. I like brighter colors like found on the Rolex OP models. Looking forward to Omega launching a new set of colors one day.

I honestly do not understand the issue with the butterfly clasp and polished links. Omega has gone a great job making the butterfly clasps on this model comfortable. If people keep demanding the same sportiness between watches each watch will begin to lose it character. This can be seen in modern cars and motorcycles, each manufacture begins to design them and they all become basically the same and loose all the original character and feel that you desired.

I have the blue Aqua Terra and found it top heavy, subpar lume and clasp suck, nothing like my Starbucks submariner Rolex. I changed the strap with a Artem strap with deployment clasp and now my wife wears it as well. I wish the Omega changed the bracelet with tfit

No, no, no! This whole BS about toolless micro adjustments needs to end. This is a good clasp. If anything the folding piece is too long. Nobody needs a micro adjust clasp that adds the equivalent of a watch head to the underside. It worked 50 years without. There is a reason the Day Date, Patek and AP don't do it. It's like the huge watch madness all over. You only need a millimeter adjustment if the watch is heavy, the watch is heavy because there is too much bulk... get rid of the bulk and all is good.

As much as I hate this new age, soulless, overpriced swiss jewelry, I'd really like to see other swiss manufacturers besides Rolex and Omega step up their game instead of releasing shit, bland dials and quartz watches alongside their mechanical counterparts. Also, I'd like to see some vintage dials make a comeback. Today's dials are so uninspiring. If I look at what's available today, only cushion case style Titoni Airmasters come to mind. Their 38-39 mm versions perfectly capture old school watch sizes and design.
