@Guser Tyubie why though if we want to how much would it cost to import from US the white one 3080 since it seems to be cheaper than buying the grey one 3080 for $3899 at retailers ready for preorder...? But yeah not certain and apart from the fact that yes the US import will need either a travel adapter plug or hopefully just a c7 cord swap but yeah... sigh how much are import taxes going to cost is what I am asking I think and nice choice there where did you order from? So, far I have only found scorptec and ple to have them on preorder the rest don't even have them up since I got a email from ple saying their suppliers are having issues sourcing models for AU might be why we only have 3070 in stock in white. Anyway hope the eclipse grey model has the rgb like in best buy but idk please tell us when you get it and if it has rgb single zone or just white backlighting which is also fine on that model unlike the white one... why did they not use teal!?
@YayaTia_II3 жыл бұрын
@Guser Tyubie thanks for the reply yeah atm I have a working laptop so I'll fill the 1tb ssd first and then yeah if it keeps slowing down... Otherwise I guess I can directly purchase it from best buy and proxy it over or wait for stores like cplonline to grey import it I think they did it with msi so just got to hope and see... Otherwise might just settle for the 3070 white model or bite the bullet on the 3080 grey model.

As someone who got very bored of waiting for 5000/3000 series laptops to actually become available, i'm glad to see the 2080 Super is more than able to mix it with the 3070 and lower power 3080's. I suspect driver optimizations will let Ampere stretch it's legs more as time goes on, but performance and availability of Turin-based machines (which have some PHENOMENAL discounts going on) is the real kicker right here, right now.

The track pad most definitely doesn't click down anywhere from my experience. It still has a wedge mechanism and the mid/back of the trackpad is significantly less responsive than the front - especially with two finger right clicking. For those familiar with a MacBook Trackpad, if we rate it a 10 on a sliding scale where my MacBook is the 10 with complete responsiveness across the entirety of the trackpad, the G15 is a 7 in comparison. A shame all the high end laptops have 1440 this year.. It's really not needed for 15".. 1080p at 15" has a higher PPI then all 4k TV's. Just makes it harder to hold higher fps. The slight extra clarity is not worth it IMHO.

Great video. Will probably replace my dell g7 with this, since the new bios doesn’t allow me to enable turbo boost to the processor. Do you have any tips on that? I can’t downgrade it somehow.

I think you made a mistake when talking about RAM and Dual Channel at 5:14 - Confusing but you corrected it at the end of the video. Also the soldered RAM in one slot is kind of a deal breaker, especially as it's the same in the 3060 and 3070 models which start with less RAM, and you're paying a serious premium for 32GB with the 3080 model. The popping speaker, heat (directed at the screen too), and build quality don't seem confidence-inspiring either. For £1000 you can get a Legion 5 with 4800H, 2060, 512GB, and upgrade it to 2.5TB storage and 64GB RAM for about £1600 total. This machine costs £2600, and is worse for upgrades, with seemingly lower build quality and worse thermals. If you're buying it for gaming the middling performance and 32GB RAM seem like a waste too. I don't think it's worth £1600 more, or even £1000 more than a laptop with 4800H, 2060, 2.5TB storage, and 64GB RAM.

I’m getting the model with 8gb+8gb of RAM. Could I theoretically change the removable 8gb stick to a 32gb (also 3200 speed) and thus have 8gb+32gb for a total of 40gb of RAM? I know some performance is lost, but it’s surely still better than just 16gb for the long term?

yes, several online forums say so

@@QuadAA Thanks. I probably will upgrade it then and replace the 8gb module with a 32gb module.

Realistically, how much would a G15 with a Ryzen 7 5800hs, 16 gb ram and rtx 3060 lose in terms of performances compared to the specs you re showing here on this model? I found one at a good price and I'm thinking of taking it
