these are the perfect cars, they last for about 100,000 miles after rolling off the factory.

Your kidding right! Pure quality... There are some things that nothing but a human touch can judge, and this is more evident in this video and the current prestige marque of German cars. It's obvious now why Audi is gradually taking over BMW and Mercedes in sales; because right from the get-go they have prided themselves not only on the best engineering but precision from every aspect (From what a robot can do better-to what a human can judge and perform).

but on a BMW you can't just use any motor oil in those machines, you must use those approved oils that BMW tells you to use. so your only choices are to go to a parts store hoping if they carry oils that are approved by BMW(one time I was at the store and store told me that oils for German cars were all sold out),or go to the dealership. which is often overpriced for one bottle of oil.

your only option, keep several bottles of oil and other articles in the spare compartment in case something goes wrong. because those types of oils and anything else is difficult to find especially in the rural areas. don't go to the dealer for parts unless its the last resort. any good parts store should carry oil that are approved by BMW and look for sale on them too.

notice how the newer German cars that most of the cooling system hoses are all plastic, overtime, plastic exposing to extreme temperatures can lead to cracks,or otherwise difficult to detect if there is a leak. plus replacing them is not simple at all without special tools and repair procedures. In addition parts are expensive and difficult to obtain if something goes wrong. eg you are low on engine oil in a Lexus how to get engine oil? simple go to a auto parts store or even a supermarket.

very professional and disciplined craftsman! Italians should take example from them IF they want to increse theyr assembly quality on theyr vehicles Italian designers are good but the craftsman lack on discipline

Not a bad manufacturing process, but if you want breathtaking quality, watch the Rolls Royce Phantom and bentley mulsanne videos.

I own a bmw 740Li, and it does nothing but chew oil. I have treated the car with the up most respect and things just fail on it and break down.... same problems as every other 7 series that i know.. not saying that you 5 series is a shitbox... im just saying that the experiences that i've had with all my 7 series BMW's were not very good. Shame because they are a beautiful car

@JET997u So true! I don't understand why people make it such a big deal, is it becoz it's BMW? Even the chinese car factory I've visited last year looked pretty much the same... but heck no one ever yelled "Chinese car= pure quality" ever? It's called modern automobile manufacturing system, pretty much standardized globally and mostly robotic while eliminating expensive man powers. The ford factory in Europe is pretty much all robotic, you rarely even meet humans....

I know how an American production line would look; they'd be on strike since they aren't happy with $60 an hour for screwing on a few bolts and assembling a few panels, poorly that is.

you have no idea. the life of a BMW is 3 years, after that its going to kill you with maintenance. am saying this out of experience with BMW. i owned 2 X5s '02 '08 and a 750 '10. am not saying its a bad quality car, but its not durable and BMW does that on purpose
