Watching this makes me appreciate how Jeep tries to make Jeeps easier to modify. You don't have to pull the fuel tank for instance to get to a control arm bolt. Bronco's are cool rigs, but they lacked foresight when it comes to make them modifiable. Same goes for trying to put a winch on the front, its a major pain and the bumper mounts like to rip off the frame. Great video though! And this kit looks super complete and well done.

They did a pretty good job in my opinion, but Jeep has it figured out really well
@aaronnorlund44848 ай бұрын
Ya, but keep has had years of trial and error working with basically the same platform. Give Ford 10+ years to perfect a standard. And work out the bugs. But, the aftermarket support is gaining fast!
@Stuka878 ай бұрын
@@aaronnorlund4484 Oh, for sure. Jeep having built vehicles non-stop for 75 years has certainly made it easier for them to know what works and what doesn't. But Ford did buy a fleet of Jeeps when they were developing the Bronco. The issue is that there are a lot of engineering choices that Ford made that go directly against making it easy to modify the vehicle. I feel its a differences in mindsets between Ford and Jeep. And yes, the Bronco's aftermarket support is getting much better. And several companies have stepped up to resolve the design issues (Steering, bumper mounts, etc). There is a lot to like about the Bronco. And having more competition only makes things better for all of us.

Good shocks make a big difference. Now to address those tie rods. A clevis steering kit would be the logical next step. That rear panhard also looks like it could use some attention.
@thedirtheadshed8 ай бұрын
The tie rods are meant to bend or break before they damage the steering rack. The rack is the part that needs addressed
@Fix_It_Again_Tony8 ай бұрын
@@thedirtheadshed For sure. I was looking at aftermarket Bronco racks this morning. They get pretty pricey. I think I saw a complete aftermarket one with improved parts for $4500. If it was mine I would still do clevis style tie rods, however. The stock tie rods will bend with 37" tires, but you could probably get away with the stock rack for a while. Maybe some bolt on parts to the rack is all that is needed. Beyond that you might as well just put tons under it. You need to know what the goals are. Is this a daily driven rig mainly, or is it a serious offroader? If it is both, and he wants to keep IFS then that gets expensive.

Put a puck lift and new shocks on my old JK. The Bilsteins made a world of difference in ride quality. If you ever find yourself in the area, there is a trail that runs in from Panamint Valley to the old Barker Ranch where the Manson Family holed up. There were some big obstacles that stopped our crew cold but would be a fun run in MazGrande or Louis Viten. We got stopped by a 4’ nearly vertical ramp, but it was a neat run. Best part is you come out on the road to Furnace and a quick trip to Vegas. There are also some pretty interesting trails on the east side of Lake Mead that are easy day hops. Just a thought.

The problem is that it is still an independent front suspension. It seems like it is time to get a solid front axle and be done with it. It probably would have been cheaper. Independents are great until they aren't and they have so many weak points. Sure they ride better and are better at high speed desert runs, but the rest of the time you are crawling over and thru mud, snow, rocks... Yes, you can improve them to a point, but then they still break and you are back to fixing it and nothing is simple on a IFS vehicle. I own one, a 1994 S10 Blazer and it is a fine street machine, I love it, but it is not a serious off roader.
