Just flew on the C919 from Taiyuan to Shanghai, just a tad smaller for the tray and baggage compartments, other than that the landing was pretty smooth. At the beginning they made fun of Chinese EV like 10 years ago, now VW along with the other legacy automakers are on the verge to bankrupt. For the aviation industry it may take a bit longer. Maybe in 10 years the Chinese airplane will have a fair market share but for EVs China is already 10 years ahead of western automakers.

From what I read it was to be 80% imported parts but in 2021 the western components suppliers pulled out in most cases under government direction. Since then through reverse engineering China is now producing a 63% internal supply of components which will rise to 84% in 2026 which will include new aircraft engines that are now in final certification. Italy will be the key supplier of remaining external parts supplier as they did not stop supply in 2021.

This is a fake news. C929 is still on the drawing board, COMAC is a brand new civil plane manufacturer and hence is not stupid to design two brand new models of large airplane simultaneously. To design a brand new model airplane needs about 6000-7000experienced engineers. Where does COMAC get 12000-14000 experienced civil airplane design engineers??? IF COMAC can find so many experienced designed engineers at the same time, how does COMAC keep these designed engineers on the pay roll if COMAC does not have another two brand new civil to design?? Even Boeing or Airbus cannot afford to employ so many engineers to design two brand new models at the same time.BTW, COMAC is a brand new civil plane design company compared with Boeing and Airbus.
