Audelio Mejía’s family has grown corn in the agricultural heart of Central America, known as the Golden Triangle, for three generations. But for the last year, the 50-year-old smallholder farmer has seriously considered migrating north with the help of a coyote.
He’s not afraid of gang violence or political persecution, like many migrants who would claim asylum in the U.S. He’s worried about rain - and the lack of it.

Yes, stevemac, climate change will produce mass migrations of people, as entire regions dry up. Where will they go? Who will take them in? I recently read an excellent book called The Great Waves of Change (dot org - free online as an ebook) by Marshall Vian Summers (he has many publications). It describes what is coming over the horizon and what people must understand and what they must do to prepare. I highly recommend it.

To the guy above... i work with lots of migrants my whole life, south florida, north michigan.. colorado, oregon even.. lots of illegal mexicans working on all types of ag farms, apples, pesch, weed, hemp, etc.. a lot of farm types.. not a single LEGAL MEXICAN works them, because farms are a dime a dozen, meaning competition and lots of farms selling the same new thing... hemp. weed, apple, you name it... illegals do the job because its always the popular easy job to find work in, and like i said, no legal latino can do it, theyre lazy too.. cause white and legal mexican knows hard work for minimum wage is 2nd backup work pay to normal us jobs.. truth hurts your myth, i know but i have lived it, and seen it 1st hand, i am not going to argue facts i know and live year after year here in the usa, lol

What other area of scientific endeavor has "deniers"? The scientific method necessarily includes re-examination, debate and reassessment. That's how science advances, it's the only way. The state of scientific knowledge is always in flux. Only in climate science, an area so complex, with so many variables, assumptions and unknowns, and with so much uncertainty, are scientists who question or contradict the prevailing wisdom denounced as "deniers" and sought to be silenced. It's telling.

In the 80's and 90's I migrated to the middle east enduring temperatures regularly over 100 degrees Fahrenheit a day, in the military. I worked 96 hour weeks, my highest day inside was 134 degrees on our thermometer. But you are telling me south Americans are migrating north where its actually about the same as I endured easily for a decade. Ok. Let's send them via ship to Greenland where it's even more cool. Sounds like a reasonable solution. Greenland is big, barely populated and north of America. It would be economically cheaper, the Danish have become socialist liberals, which is why they are bankrupt. Also I suggest we build a transitional facility on the sould border capable of holding 100,000 people to undergo a multi process legal immigration testing and indoctrination. Mostly for Russians though.

He should sacrifice some humans to Tlaloc like his ancestors. Tlaloc is the god of rain, water, and earthly fertility.[37] The Aztecs believed that if sacrifices were not supplied for Tlaloc, rain would not come, their crops would not flourish, and leprosy and rheumatism, diseases caused by Tlaloc, would infest the village.[38] Archaeologists have found the remains of at least 42 children sacrificed to Tlaloc at the Great Pyramid of Tenochtitlan. Many of the children suffered from serious injuries before their death, they would have to have been in significant pain as Tlaloc required the tears of the young as part of the sacrifice. The priests made the children cry during their way to immolation: a good omen that Tlaloc would wet the earth in the raining season. According to the accounts of some, they assembled the children whom they slew in the first month, buying them from their mothers. And they went on killing them in all the feasts which followed, until the rains really began. And thus they slew some on the first month, named Quauitleua; and some in the second, named Tlacaxipeualiztli; and some in the third, named Tocoztontli; and others in the fourth, named Ueitocoztli; so that until the rains began in abundance, in all the feasts they sacrificed children.[40] The proud native herritage.

@Wizard Kool It's not that specific piece of land you fool, it's all the land in that area, it's country wide and continental weather patterns we're talking about here, not just a few acres. The same thing is happening all over Africa and parts of Spain. It's a global pattern as global warming takes effect, it disrupts the weather, funnily enough, all around the globe. The only realistic place that this guy can move his farm to is the US that has more stable weather patterns and accessible irrigation if he can afford it. Climate change is the biggest cause of the immigration crisis, as peoples lives get less sustainable due to the weather and the month long droughts, they move north towards the stable/wetter grounds where farming/living is actually possible. If you're serious about supporting Trump in his anti immigration rhetoric then you're against climate change, simple as.

@Wizard Kool This is the most hilarious comment I've read - "Trump is an extremely successful businessman" and "most successful Presidents" - you WK, live on another planet - or have your head in the sand. Have you ever been outside of your little bubble? Because there's a real world out here, and there's factual information that is readily available to all. Trump was forced to bank overseas because American banks stopped loaning him money that he never paid back. He doesn't even pay his contractors, he screws people out of their money and then makes false claims and uses the courts to bleed them until they can't afford to defend themselves anymore. He's a mobster. The bankers in the 90s called him the "P.T. Barnum of the 21st Century" - they told him the only thing he knew how to do was sell the Trump name, so told him to sell his name to co's to use on buildings. That's how they got some of their money back - but for decades, he's been getting money from Russia and the Saudis - and now Jared is doing the same thing. Even Dumb and Dumber Eric and Don Jr bragged about their dad getting all their money from Russia. You need to read more and get outside of your little box. You've got some hard news coming up soon re Trump and his money. Money laundering via the NRA and trafficking via his modeling agency and Mara-Lago. He met his whore wife through Epstein, she was an escort and a porn model ffs. Seriously, open your eyes! Ever watch the documentary about his golf course in Scotland how he screwed the Scots - they hate his ass. You Got Trumped is the name of it. WATCH it. Watch the Documentary on him and Hillary too, tells their backgrounds and how they became who they are. It's The Choice 2016 on Frontline, from PBS - Public Broadcasting - not affiliated with parties. Just straight up truth, you can even see photos of your mobster when he had Roy Cohn as his main lawyer, the gay mobster who taught Trump to never admit wrongs and just deny over and over and then sue until they can't afford to sue back anymore. Leftist have logic, which is more than you've got right now, el zippo - nada - just a bunch of worthless BS crap - it's pathetic. I feel sorry for you. You're in for a big surprise headed your way. BTW, you need to start thinking about who you'll vote for in 2020, cause your dawg ain't gonna be in the race. The fool pimped himself into a corner along with his lapdogs in the GOP - a sorry shitshow about to come to a messy crash.

So the guy is willing to pay $5000 - $10,000 to a coyote to enter the US illegally. Instead of using that money to build some type of irrigation system. Sounds about right, take the lazy way out.

Yes the climate changes, and it always will, but because of us it's getting worse at a faster rate and the shift in climate is drastic and will cost us millions in lives and billions in dollars. Billions lost in fishing, agriculture, and public and private sectors. People and many species will/ are dying as a consequence of our actions. Please read up on this topic. It's important.

@@unnamedenemy9 You mean the same experts that said an ice age was coming in the 1970s and we should be terrified of global cooling? Or do you mean the experts that said all the ice would be melted at the north pole by now? Or the experts that said hurricanes would be getting worse and more numerous, when the opposite is true? Or maybe you mean the experts who were caught fabricating climate date at East Anglia in 2009 to fit their narrative?

@@DegreesOfThree yeah we're actually in the middle of the 6th mass extinction don't take my word for it. look at Google for like 5 seconds. It's somewhat gradual but it is happening. It's already costing us money. Look up the acidification of the ocean leading to coral reef die off. Coral reefs are a lifeline for many species which our economy partially depends on.
