I recall a Viper (as a slang term) being a term for an underhanded person in the same vein as a cad, fink or a scoundrel. Makes sense with how Rogue-like they are. As for the new Limited Job, I know I’ve seen Beastmaster and Blitzer (I called it Blitz Ace) thrown around as a Melee DPS and Ranged DPS respectively, but I don’t know anymore.

Beastmaster has been so highly speculated ever since the concept of Limited jobs was first revealed I'm actually having a hard time imagining they'd do something else. Think there's tons of people that like the idea of just traveling around the world collecting rare pets.

vipers strike with great speed. the class is a speed-based dps class. the swords as fangs metaphor works, too. they may have a dot, as well, but all melee dps have something dot or dot-ish, at least, so that's unsurprising.

The Viper should have a greenish hue rather than blue, you know..for poison, too many classes have blue already, assuming it even has poison abilities but with a name like viper it surely must.

First tging it thought when watching the skills was that it looked like paladin. Literally same colors and effecta used for paladin and the aura clearly also pulls from Sage skills. It's disappointing in a way....i'll wait and see the rest

I like this job for the major FF9 Zidane reference, but also because this seems like a scouting job that will focus heavily on physical attacks. Ninja used to have a pretty decent balance between its ninjutsu usage and physical attacks back in ARR and HW. But since SB, its been leaning further and further into using far more of its ninjutsu techniques rather than physical attacks, making it feel off and lopsided to me. I really hope Viper is the complete opposite of Ninja and so far from what we've seen it seems to be that.

THIS. Since HW i have been begging for a rogue/assassin class that is NOT a ninja. I don't really care for elemental magic they have and despite playing the class for many years, i despise mudras. I'm really happy to get a scouting class that will be more about the rogue gameplay

I'd like to think the limited job will be a pet job, either Puppeteer or Beastmaster. Something familiar to fans and make them want to play it since a lot don't enjoy BLU, plus they'd be more melee focused which would compliment BLU. I'd also be curious if new job and BLU can team up since both limited, or if there would be some goofy restriction based on class.

Those monuments remind me of the Rhonka stuff in the first. I wonder if there'll be any connection. I hope that along with the second limited job, they'll also allow the limited jobs to do a bit more together with the other "proper" jobs. Like maybe at least one daily roulette queue that allows them for example.

In Final Fantasy 9, Zidane had a weapon called Rune Tooth which looks almost exactly like the swordstaff seen in the trailer, which when you look at it's tooltip in FF9 says "Also known as 'The Viper'"

3:50 we actually kind of do. In that of the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion from Final Fantasy XI. In fact that expansion in Final Fantasy XI is the first appearance of the Mamool Ja, and the left head on Gulool Ja Ja looks kind of like the Blue Mage helmet from FFXI.

When I see the weapons for the Viper, first thing that pops into my head is Zidane from FF9 who used a dagger paired with a shortsword, or a double-bladed glaive, as seen here. As for the buff that enhances our abilities for a short time, that sounds awfully close to what the Trance Gauge was in FF9, as well. Fingers crossed for Beastmaster as the limited job. I'd love to see it as a main job (like a melee version of Summoner), but something tells me that just won't happen.

Beast master is my guess for the limited job, as the raids are FFXI inspired, and Beastmaster in FFXI was similar to a limited job in that game, geared towards solo play, if I remember correctly.

This job is definitely my type of play style, and you weren’t far off guessing Pirate because this job looks very similar to a pirate without a pistol

My current theories for the two new classes that we have no info on yet: Corsair for magic DPS, but geared up similar to the Gun Mage from FFX-2 rather than gambling/RNG as in FFXI. Magic gun go BRRRRRRRR! We could pick it up in Limsa from the same area as the Marauder HQ. Either Pictomancer or Beastmaster for the limited job. Each brings with it the ability to take control of an animal or beast, or utilize their abilities. Tural is a jungle area, likely chock full of new creatures, so it'd be rife with potential for either Picto or Beastmaster. I theorize that the green clover earring is actually related to this job rather than Viper or the magic DPS job. Pirate/Viking (from FFTactics) could still be a factor in the future, maybe even as the Limited job.

To me, viper feels like what'd happen if rogue split into 2 jobs like arcanist does. One leaning more into the base class's vibe, and the other doing its own thing with the base concept. It's obviously not, but that's the vibe for me.

Finally, my Judge Gabranth cosplay is complete. Everyone compares the Viper with Zidane, but if you look up Noah's moveset and look at Final Fantasy 12s logo, you can see that this is a 100% carbon copy of him. And I love it.

If you guys want to speculate what abilities the viper will have, search "zidane tribal abilities and dyne commands". For people who dont know, its based on Zidane Tribal from ff9. He was a variant of a thief archetype. He went into a trance state, which increased his power for two turns and unlocked special abilities called "Dyne commands," sort of like limit breaks in ff7. In trance, a blue light would envelope him, and he would essentially go super saiyan. The tail of the miqo'te in this trailer is a 'tip of the hat' to zidanes signature monkey tail. Thats why they dont show the cat ears. They wanted him to resemble zidane, and not a miqo'te.

I'm hoping the dual blades is an actual stance change to make it a little different rather than something like RDM melee combo or RPR Enshroud. I'm sure if that's the case they'll have a mechanic that makes it beneficial to switch back and forth but for open world and dungeons, It would be cool to just run around with the dual blades.

NIN is probably my favourite class in game currently, but in nearly every RPG I have played which gives the option to dual wield swords I always take it. So a dual sword welder which plays similar to a NIN, please just take my credit card now 😊😊

My only disappointment is the second Scouting Class also dual wields bladed weapons. It's too Ninja feeling I guess. I dunno how to describe it. Still I appreciate the more traditional roguelike option. When I played Rogue I wanted to stay in the pirate thief fantasy but we ended up upgrading to Ninja. So this is kinda nice. Do not get me wrong, I hope they keep doing more original jobs. Reaper and Sage were nice so I hope we keep getting that sort of stuff.

Rogue-Ninja already has a poison DoT action and two blades. I kinda hope that this is an elaborate red herring by YoshiP to throw people off the scent of Corsair (yes, even though it probably isn't). Tmnt is about mutants. I'm thinking a limited job about mutations into various mob-based forms would be cool. Maybe something along the lines of Altered Beast? ...but a Beast master or beast trainer job would be cool too.

The hubby and I watched the Keynote live. I genuinely loved what I saw of Viper. Hubby was like, "Sure, that's good, but when are they going to fix the glamour thing?" So many of us like the new classes, but any collector wants to collect more glamours instead of being capped at 800.

What if there's 4 classes? Ok, so think about the Ninja Turtles shirt for a moment: Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, and Raphael. So Viper is a dual sword wielder, which would be Leonardo. Donatello is a bo staff wielder, which would fit the heavily hinted at green mage. That would leave two... and we know there's going to be a new limited class coming, which would leave 1. So at this point I think the new limited class will use a sai or nunchuck (or some loosely interpreted variation thereof), and that there is one class left to be revealed using the other... possibly or probably later in the expansion.

There another character from XII Gabranth which his signature move combine dual blade into twin blade similar to Viper. While Zidane can equip between Dual Blade or Twin blade originally in IX not combine them as far as i remember

Noone is replying, that the name Viper really remembers of the name of one of the grand companies. The order of the twin adder is called "Bruderschaft der Morgenviper" in german, which can be translated to Brotherhood of the dawnviper.

If it's a 2 modes thing like red mage, magic and melee/ 2 swords and 1 long sword, I'll be very happy. I like the red mage 2 modes. It also opens the idea to other jobs like tank. An idea I had was a mech tank with a similar system. Be in mech ups defense and out of mech for a burst of DMG. I thought I was going to be disappointed by another melee but actually wasn't 😊

I think the logic behind the name is that a Viper kills with its two fangs. It would make more sense if the Viper the class has a kind of poison mechanic.
