I'm all in on Google products with several devices around the home but nah, this new version isn't catching my attention. The sleep stuff sounds terrible. I don't need advice on improving sleep. I know I sleep terribly and I've tried everything from meditation to medication. I suspect most people with sleep issues have already googled solutions so what is the device going to suggest that's new? Don't use blue light screens late at night! Said the device with the blue light screen hehe.

To be fair though, the ambient light sensor does a really good job at adjusting the color and brightness of the display to the current environment. It's like night shift for your iPhone or flux on PC's, pretty much eliminates the blue light.
@ClayMann3 жыл бұрын
@@yannick_yt you are absolutely correct and while I was really just trying to make a joke I forgot it does that lol but great point, glad you brought it up because that's a great feature and I've had tablets with that feature but it didn't work. I believe you can also adjust that in the settings to be more or less intense which is a nice feature too.

Brian, for a next topic. Can you elaborate on the different aspect of routines en multiple users. In my experience with my wife (which has her own routines) it sometimes activates her routines, sometimes my routines, while it can perfectly recognize her voice. Google doesn't really explain how routines work across multiple users and says u need to set routines for every user seperately. But in our house my wife can activate my routines (bedtime, goodmorgning etc) but other times it activates her own routines. There is a great inconsistence. Can you look in to it? I can also activate routines she created which I don't even have set.

It looks like a pretty decent upgrade to me. Glad to see an extra microphone. All of these devices are going to annoy users every time they don't hear them or mis-hear them so the performance of the mic array is a really, really critical part of the package. Having said that I just finished binge watching the latest series of "The Expanse" and noticed quite a few gesture interactions with various home automation actions (hanging up calls, muting audio, turning off lights etc) and was thinking "hey, I would actually use that instead of voice if it was implemented" so for some of my use cases Soli could have great potential and this sleep tracking stuff is something that I would use. I'm 99% sure I know the answer to my next question but I'll ask it anyway. Can the sleep data be uploaded to Apple Health? ..... OK, you can stop laughing Brian, pick yourself up off the floor and just answer the (almost rhetorical) question 😀
@AutomateYourLife3 жыл бұрын
There are good things here Julian! For sure...it's just that there isn't a TON of change vs the previous generation. How well does the sleep tracking feature handle cats? I used Sleep As Android on my phones for years and never had a major problem with the stats until I got a cat. It moves about the bed constantly, from one side to the other, it purrs randomly throughout the night (which SAA thinks is me snoring!), and when it runs out of the room for 3am zoomies around the living room SAA thinks I have got up to pee, and been gone for well over an hour! Sleep stats are now mostly useless because of my cat! Will Google be able to cope with cats, I wonder?

Surely "Sleep sensing" is just a novelty that people use for a week, then just forget about it.... Ill stick to my 1st generation, not enough of an improvement..I was hoping for a camera, not this "sleep sensing" crap (sorry) Thanks for the video, great work....

The availability of smart watches seems to limit the need for this feature in bed, especially the activities that may accidentally be recorded. Pass on this.

I think this could work to compliment what the watch tracks to give you a better understanding of your sleep... I would like to see this feature work with my Fitbit Sense so I can get an more accurate sleep measurement.
