The CJI promotion was trying to expand the popularity of bjj to the general public. I think Leary's guard system failed to gain any new fanbase. Even the bjj crowd was booing him. When Kade mocked Levi, the crowd cheered. It's clear that bjj fans and for the uninitiated alike, this style is not popular and will not grow the sport. It's an absurd way of fighting, and bjj is supposed to be grounded in real-life, actual fight/self-defense capability. Just like in judo where an ippon throw ends the match because of the consequences in a real fight scenario, this kind of ludicrous fighting style needs to lead to point deduction or something to recognize how implausible this stuff is as it relates to an actual martial art.
