Vyce had a massive reputation for himself across the multiverse - it's why Linksano fled his own universe when he heard he was coming its way. Creatures like the Entity (Lovecraftian monster-Gods and the like) don't tend to go out of their own realms, but Vyce was a continual active threat... until Linkara managed to take him out.

yeah plus Vyce was basically the only villain anyone really KNEW about. LInksano was basically just a harmless asshole, The Entity had basically hid itself from everyone aside from its followers and only Vyce knew about it, Mechakara was purely largely focused on Linkara and thus hadn't set up a name for himself outside of that and anyone else was basically just restricted to linakra's univverse or a more or less myth, and even aside from that Vyce's defeat was basically the one people would most likely hear about due to the sheer NUMBER of universe's he invaded and the myth surrounding him.

Some of the New Guardians bits have been mentioned in more recent stuff, so it's not impossible. It might be fun to see him fight Section8, who do get revisited from time to time.

Not sure who HUD is. There was a team failing heroes that first appeared in a 90s DC comic called Hitman who went by the name Section 8. They've cropped up a few times more recently. Noteworthy members include Sixpack (who can get drunker than any other human), Dogwelder (a legacy character that fights using a MIG-welder and a dog corpse), Friendly Fire (can shoot lasers out of his body, but has no ability to aim them) and Bueno Excellente (who lowers the tone). Mostly seen as a joke by other heroes.

Ha you know I was just thinking the other day how rare it is to see Aboriginal or Australian stuff depicted in popular media. Like you see the Greek and norse GODS in everything even weird add stuff like Mayans, native Americans and Celts get more love and recently there's being something of a boom of interest in passific islander stuff. But when was the last time anyone saw say the Rainbow serpent in a line up of GODS. Or an Australian super hero?

I was struck by the significance of the guy at the AIDS clinic makes a big deal of his still being there three years after diagnosis. It's a stark reminder how much has changed, considering that these days in the developed world, if you can secure access to treatment and are diagnosed early, you stand a very good chance of being able to live with the condition for decades.

Wow, an appearance from Thomas "Pieface" Kalmaku, one of my fave characters from the Silver Age "Green Lantern" stories! Man, between what happens to him here and what happened to Jimmy Olsen in "Batman v. Superman," the past couple of years have not been kind to DC Silver Age sidekicks. Also, I apologize for referring to his somewhat derogatory "nickname" from way back when; maybe the next time a DC writer creates an Alaskan native sidekick character, don't refer to him in terms of an offensive stereotype (Do they even make Eskimo Pies anymore?). I'm just kind of surprised to see him popping up here; I always assumed he was left behind to join the dustbin of terrible history of misrepresentation in comics. Awesome character otherwise in my book, but I don't think he's gonna be a part of something like "DC Super Hero Girls" any time soon.

He'd been somewhat rehabilitated in the Green Lantern books around the time of Crisis on Infinite Earths. He got a career upgrade from mechanic to engineer. He was back working at Ferris after they bought an engine design of his. He didn't appear all that much due to how much flux the Green Lantern title(s) tend to be in (Hal to John to team book to weekly strip in Action, back to Hal). He was probably put into this title because of its relationship to Green Lantern and them wanting a somewhat familiar face for the audience. One of the things never followed up on is that Booster Gold was actually supposed to be the descendant of one or more of the New Guardians. It's also worth noting that Extrano was the ONLY male member of the team capable of procreating. Tom already had a family, so he wasn't about to do anything with the three eligible ladies. To be fair, it's not like this has been the ONLY really stupid plan devised by the Guardians of the Universe. They're not very good at their job.
