You should also check out how ASV was started. It's a pretty cool story. It's online somewhere. I found out about it when I was buying my first ASV and was looking for reviews on how they were as machines. I ran across something on the history of ASV and read it. Good read!

i mark underground utility lines for work. if you ever have any questions about it let me know. and that line you hit alot of times there is old dead cable and phones line that went bad and they ran new ones. and left the old ones in the ground it happens alot that i mark a property and they hit a cable or phone line and start freaking out till i show up and show them the house has a new service and what they hit was the old dead cable.

and also when you call in for a locate dont just say mark entire property. that is the most frustrating thing. when people say that and really they need a 10x10 spot in the back yard and i spent 2 hours marking out there entire property. its a waste of the utility companies money for one but also i have to go to neighbors homes to hook onto there gas meter and electric meters and cable lines. people do not understand that to locate one house in a suburban area i might have to go to 10 different homes and get into there yards. so i could spend alot of time marking entire property for contractors only doing work in the back yard where nothing runs at. and im sure since you have been around a long time if you get a good relationship with the locaters we will help you out as best as we can. and you get alot more accurate locates when you define your dig zone.
